It was a good experience staying there. The rooms are clean and neat, the grounds are beautiful and has a short walk to the beach. The restaurants food is very good, but the waiters are distracted from their jobs and have a very bad attitude. The staff was great and very helpfull ! I would not go again,, but it was a pleasant stay.

Although the hotel staff was highly professional, friendly and helpful, this place was not at all what I had expected. My room view was of a parking lot and the only view from the entire hotel is a limited lagoon view at the bar/restaurant area. Perhaps the photos on their website were taken many many years ago... Rooms are very standard, bedding and pillows low quality. The website also displays a full scrumptious menu, however, during my stay, buffet was the only option. The buffet breakfast was very impressive.

Such a bustling, fun filled place. Can see that this place is very popular in Margate. The sea food is delicious. The servings are huge. Generous. We enjoyed the prawns and jumbo fish. Service. Well the staff are cheerful and quick. But the kitchen took an age to send out the food. Bar is well stocked. We loved sitting out on the verandahโ€ฆ good breeze from the ocean.

Had an amazing stay as part of the U/20 SWD Eagles rugby team. Just wow! Amazing view from our conference room! The room was so spacious and sleek! Staff was professional, friendly and helpful! Thanx for a great stay!

Rooms are decent! Actually they are quite lovely. Management = warm + listens to complaints and respond quite well Food = (prepare to eat RICE everyday for lunch and supper TWICE a day...then same food for lunch gets ( leftovers) gets served for supper. A complete rip off for business people who are booked for bfast, lunch and supper) Staff - great people overall Conference facilities = great!

Fairly good hotel with good breakfast (although repeated or same thing everyday, might be an issue for some if staying long), WI-FI is very weak, could be improved, room service not always the best and rooms themselves were good.

Thought this would be a good find as it had many good reviews. Every surface was dusty. All the metal was tarnished. There was visible mold on the inside of the cupboards. The room had a damp smell. The drains appeared to be blocked so the water sat for ages. I even phoned ahead to make sure there would be Wi-Fi that would reach the rooms. I couldn't get Wi-Fi signal in my room. This would be a wonderful place if it were maintained.

All the TVs are faulty or not tuned in, lines across screen and hazy picture. Not any channels worthwhile watching, looks like a basic dstv or similar. Screws holding headboard to wall are loose, curtain holders either side of sliding door are bent and loose. Air-conditioning remote doesn't display any settings, so you guess the set temperature. Lady staff at breakfast didn't great us, I had to go look for coffee, no teaspoons on tables. Mirror in bathroom broken. On the plus side, it was clean.

Very disappointing and will never return, no sleep with people parting all night in the neighboring rooms, bathroom facilities need attention and towels with brown stains. I tried to call management and left my details no response, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and suggest they rather advertise it as an all night tavern.

Wow what a beautiful place in East London I would like to recommend it to people to start visiting such places for holidays not always go Durban or Cape Town while there are so many nice places out there and it's peaceful on the beach not overcrowded like other beaches.

The conference rooms are awesome, awesome with their outside views from the balcony. The rooms I was in are the the best but were quite decent and fully furnished.

My room had pieces of black cedament blowing from my aircon and it was leaking on the floor( Have it on video had to use a mug to catch the water while leaving it on). The shower literally floods because of poor tiling - expect to slip and fall as I did if there is a bath to shower conversion where the bath has been removed and the ground remodeled(but unevenly causing water to flow into the actual bathroom itself). The staff service is however is good in general. Recommend Pumeza highly at reception she is a pure gem. Saphokazi in reception wasn't friendly or warm welcoming at all. The gentleman in reception is also exceptional. My second stay at the Hotel and it has been the worst. I did make note to reception about my room but nothing was done about the aircon. One or two Bulbs were fused as well. Poor maintence in the room. TV doesn't even work properly interms of Channels or reception. Floor was already damp entering for the first time. Dissapointed to say the least. Nothing was done about my complaints. I expected better now that the lockdown levels has been lowered.

This was my first and last stay at this hotel. It is a very noisy place. Drunk patrons are partying and fighting in the rooms till the early hours of the morning. Management said they are aware of the problem but does nothing, neither does security. The food is good but the staff does not clear the tables once you finished a course, leaving your table with dirty dishes while you try and have another course. Loud patrons in the dining room make it impossible to have a conversation with the people at your table. Drunk patrons messes food on the floor and the staff just leaves it like that. Looks a real mess! It is such a shame...

Really nice rooms in a good location with scenic views. The cleaning services was underwhelming. One evening I came back to find someone else's dirty dishes in my room and another there were no towels available(I had to request them).

The reception staff was rude, unprofessional and need training. It's not the 1st time i have booked here but it is the 1st time that I felt mistreated. really felt like I was asking for free meals. The more I tried to explain my voucher to them is the more they made me feel like I was asking for free meals. Phakamani (I apologize if I got his name correct) must learn to greet before he can open his mouth. He must also learn to speak directly with the client and not talk via his staff and I say his staff as I assume that he is the manager. He is more rude that the guy I found there. I have decided not to go for breakfast and dinner as I don't want to see them ever again in my life. I really appreciate how i was received on Monday but the team I got yesterday spoiled everything. I suggest that the guy who checked me inn to train the staff in the reception area as they definitely need training. This happened after i recommended this place to my manager and I regret that.

This is a family friendly hotel. My sister rented an apartment and an additional room for a warm family reunion. The kids enjoyed the safe and tranquil environment around the hotel, including the breakfast and friendly staff. There were many other families that enjoyed the same as well as the amenities within the facility. A bonus is the quick access to have to the Nahoon River Mouth and beach from the hotel.

  • 4/5 Marco S (. 2 years ago on Google
The place is on a river, there is a nice view, there are outdoor and indoor space to eat, drink and enjoy, different buildings with rooms. A wide parking. And vegetation makes feel to be into a forest. Rooms are comfortable, big enough and with a nice view and atmosphere Are cleaned well but Sometimes they forget to replace towels. Never have laundry bags. And the restaurant is often slow. The buffet always has the same food, and not so good quality.

Specifically the restaurant that's open to public, my food would have to be frozen to be any colder. In my family it's considered rude to return food if it's not wrong. The service could have been better, we had to ask multiple times for simple requests like water etc but maybe the people were having a bad day or handling too many customers. Overall experience was disappointing. Won't be returning, the cold food was a big pain point.

Great place to stay. I stayed in a room in the J block on the 2nd floor and it was very humid and required the air conditioner to be on for me to enjoy it. Otherwise when the wind blows, it is amazing. The concern however is if I leave the windows open, will monkeys and other small animals or birds come into the venue. There is no pamphlet or info in this regard and this will really help. The chef seemed to be a little flustered at breakfast with the many orders and did not make the eggs I asked for, but there was sufficient other food in the buffet to not miss the eggs. But some sort of assistance must b rendered to him in future especially at peak hour. The drains in the shower and the basin were not draining optimally and when reported to reception at check out, they immediately put people to check it out and resolve. A beautiful local hotel and I will definitely come back in future.

I normally just visit the Hotel for a drink and Dinner with customers. The views from the Bar deck are awesome, together with the EL weather makes this an ideal place for after work drinks and dinner. The servers are always friendly for is good.

Lovely setting, staff and breakfasts and near beach! Especially Papama of Reception and Yolanda of the restaurant greatly impressed with their friendly disposition! Unfortunately our room smelled stale as result of previous smokers...such a pity that smokers can actually damage the impression one gets from an establishment that tries its best to keep it clean and smooth running! Do they realize what this selfish habit does?! I think the problem will improve once the unit is being renovated by removing the carpets. Also the unit will look so much lighter and brighter if it is also done in white and blue like the renovated rooms. But overall a positive experience and would love to be back in the future! PS We even had a little cervet cat visiting...we guess it was expecting a rainy night/flooding!

This is a huge hotel! We came through during January and this place was absolutely quiet, and was peaceful. This hotel even keeps power one during loadshedding, so you truly have a fantastic and relaxing experience - From your room, you can't even hear the generator! Last thing - It also has access to the beach but temper your expectations - It's not a Durban beach but great for long walks with your significant other.

  • 5/5 Shan B. 11 months ago on Google
Still the most spectacular view of the Nahoon River mouth, possibly one of the most beautiful views in the world. Had a delicious pub lunch on the deck. Brilliant service as well. An absolute must for anyone visiting East London, it will take your breath away.

  • 2/5 Dena-Jo C. 10 months ago on Google
Sadly the Hotel Bar area and outside is not like it used to be. You can hear loud music already as you walk into reception which does not set a good standard for the hotel anymore. Sound more like one is walking into a Taven than a classy hotel. Used to be such a lovely venue to take guests/family from out of town...

We just got robbed this morning,some1 entered into our room and took our wrist watches, wallets wth IDs and bank cards...reported at the reception an hour ago but still Noone has come from the hotel to check on us... This js just so frustrating and disappointing

This place was maybe a few years back a nice place to visit and have a drink. Now its a place you cant even wash your hands in the bathroom cause nothing is working. The people at night is always fighting and across the street its a mess with people drinking in cars and littering everywhere.

  • 2/5 Pedro S. 1 year ago on Google
Visited the restaurant on the 1st of Jan, first we were given a dirty table that I insisted it gets wiped (I hope it's not the cause for the bad service). We then waited almost 30 mins without being attended to. I went to demand assistance from one of the waitresses who said she'll find out who is meant to assist the table and that yielded no results. We decided to leave and waitrons didn't even bother to ensure why we are leaving. This was our first visit to this restaurant and i doubt I'll give it a chance again. Service was pathetic in the restaurant.

  • 1/5 Onalenna S. 1 year ago on Google
Firstly, the staff is not professional. The customer service is horrendous! The food came after such a long time, and it was not even worth the wait! I'd suggest the restaurant make an effort in providing further training for their staff. The only thing I enjoyed was the view!

It's a big establishment but no one bothers to accompany you to your booked unit. I carried my bags and got lost, went back to the car and asked a waitress who was passing by for directions. At least give clear directions or have a designated person to accompany first time guests

Overall our stay was pretty good. The flat was neat and had an amazing view of the lagoon and sea. We also enjoyed sitting by the pool and taking swims after days at the beach. We ate at the restaurant on our first night and thought the food was delicious and would recommend having drinks and something eat there. However, there were some faults. Upon arrival the receptionist was unwelcoming and didn't explain much that one would expect when arriving at an accommodation. Additionally, when rooms were cleaned it took forever for towels to be returned to rooms. As much as it claims to be self catering upon booking, the suite we stayed in had limited utensils and culterly with some of the dishes being incredibly dirty when we did want to use them.

The bathroom are low quality, toilet seat was cracked, bed linnen not clean, i felt itching, material did not cater for people with allergies. The rooms are made like hostel for students, it is very noisy

Beautiful, safe location. The rooms were clean and tasteful. Restaurant on site was well staffed and provided a delicious, well-prepared product. Access to a beautiful beach provided.

  • 3/5 Farieda A. 1 year ago on Google
When I arrived at Blue Lagoon, the loud music from the bar was quite uncomfortable, difficult to hear the receptionist. The receptionist did not inform me of WiFi, breakfast times or where breakfast will be. The general outlook of the receptionist was not friendly and he seemed irritated/ agitated. I got to my room and discovered that there were no towels and the phone was not working. The phone was sorted out, towels were supplied. I went for dinner at Highlander, no assistance or welcome at the door, a few ladies were standing at the left side of the restaurant entrance without looking up to attend to us.. we spent a few minutes wondering around before sitting, still the music was extremely loud. We were given menu's but didn't feel the need to stay.

Terrible noise! Not following COVID regulations. No one wearing masks. People walking out with drinks in their hands and partying in the parking lot.

  • 1/5 Alnatural G. 3 years ago on Google
Very noisy parties in the parking area in front of my room. The people come from the hotel's bar then they party and play music in front of the rooms that aren't facing the ocean, the managers don't do anything about it and neither do the security. People break bottles, play loud music, scream and shout and drink, it is so loud that it feels like they are in my room with me, i could not sleep until 4am when they finally left. Although we are in a pandemic there is no social distancing in the bar/restaurant as they seem to try and fill it up to the maximum and them allow even more people to enter and do not enforce people to wear their masks and so it seems like this is a hot spot for Covid-19. The only good thing about this place is that the staff are very friendly and hard working. The management and security need to up their game. If you value sleep and relaxation I would not recommend this place for you.

  • 1/5 Francois 3 years ago on Google
I'm not sure this Hotel is taking this pandemic very seriously. No social distancing. No masks are being worn. And people party way past the given curfew of 12am. People are walking out of the hotel with bottle and glasses with out masks then partying in the parking lot then going back into the hotel. Are precautions being taken? I worry for the staff working there. They don't seem to be being looked after. Personally this seems to be turning into a Covid hot spot. No social distancing in the parking lot that people party in till 4am in the morning.

It's a nice place with a beautifull view. But what you can find in the reviews it's real. The staff it's slow, uninterested and unorganized. Sometimes there are towels in the room, sometimes none. The food it's the same every day, but summary the stay was ok. Awso it could be a little cleaner in the rooms.

  • 1/5 Johann J. 3 years ago on Google
Hotel is extremely noisy and not adhering to covid restrictions. Drunk patrons party outside the hotel until the early hours of the morning and security refuses to do anything. Management claims its not their responsibility despite it being their patrons causing havoc in front of the hotel. Stay away from this spot.

The hotel is just marvelous. You get tested at the gate for the Coronavirus pandemic. Their conference facilities are arranged in such a way that very few guests sit in one table in order to allow social distance. The tables are also giving a distance in between. Their meals are exquisite.
