Nice and quiet beach side, just outside of East London. Convenient shops quite close by and very easy to access from the main road.

Place is beautiful and natural, it is a place where you can relax and enjoy watching the waves and sunrise. It's clean and secured, not much of beggars and homeless people around

Very beautiful and scenic. A few places to either sit or stand along the boardwalk and just watch the sea and hear and feel the waves from up there. Down in front of the boardwalk, there is a tidal pool as well, but it's been open and dry for a few days now. But th boardwalk takes you straight from Main road to the main beach and the Gonubie river mouth, which is also very beautiful. I like walking there towards and from main beach

A fantastic beach to visit. White sands and crystal clear water. The boardwalk is particularly lovely to walk from one end to the other. There is also parking on either side which is free. Would recommend to anyone especially on a sunny day.

Good beach, open spaces but not alot of cover, most folks camp under the boardwalk, even though sand comes through as people walk on top. The life guards are vigilant and friendly. The parking can get full at times, so best to go early for space. They have a well run takeaway and convenient shop as you come in the parking area. Sells good chips and other meals. Would definitely recommend.

Such a beautiful little spot. The board walk isn't a long one but it is still fun to go on. Very peaceful and relaxing. It was very clean and the views of the ocean were stunning! 🏖️

The place is really nice, there’s ample parking and a couple restaurants close by. It’s clean and has a little curio shop that I’d suggest you visit to support local business and the owner is friendly

It is a beautiful walk from passing the dunes and enjoying the waves - the ocean presents a new show every day. The river has its beauty - nature can be enjoyed.

1 of the most beautiful beaches I've been to, The scenary is breath taking something very different to City life and definite to do when on the East Coast, I felt relatively safe even though there was about a handful of people around...

Walk way with lovely sea waves noise

  • 5/5 Daniel M. 5 years ago on Google
Great view and well maintained, highly recommended. You'll have a great view of the ocean and at the end, you'll get to the river mouth which I highly recommend. Worthwhile even after dark as it's well lit.

Great beach with life savers on duty. At least 3 restaurants in the vicinity. Public toilets and a tidal pool. Quite a walk from the southern carpark to the beach. But boardwalk is well maintained.

(Translated by Google) Nice place to just take a break from everyday life. The boardwalk leads you comfortably along the beach. The beach itself has a great soft sand and offers a picturesque backdrop. Here you can just relax.

For a small museum it houses some famous stuff. This is the place that houses the world renowned Coelacanth - the extremely rare fish that was caught near East London, of which fossils have also been found dating back to the Devonian era, 400 million years ago. The museum also has the only known egg from the extinct Dodo bird. And a set of fossilised human footprints in beach sand dating back 200,000 years and believed to be the oldest human footprints in the world. There are also displays on shipwrecks along the local coast and Xhosa tribal life and beautful bead work.

  • 4/5 Kathryn Smith D. 4 years ago on Google
A great museum with local history as well as broader themes, not to mention the famous oldest footprint in the world. Spent one hour but easily could've spent two.
