Frere Hospital is a public hospital which provides tertiary level care to a large proportion of the Eastern Cape. Not the place to come if your looking for a sparkling facility and a private room but if your in need of care and don't have any insurance and are willing to be patient then we'll do our best to help.

Is the good hospital.

i was their with the birth of my little boy and that was a bid rocky then i found out my boy had a cleft palate in the inside of his mouth and i can only say good things about frere thanks to dr brown and all the staff that was so good to me and my little one i had lots of questions and they assist in every way you must remember it is a state hospital not a private hospital so be patient and stop moning be gratefull there is people that will helpyou for free

Why do a state hospital dont have a wifi ? Vincent Park has Free Wifi so does Hemming way mall have Free wifi. Patients that cant walk have to let the families know where they are so that the family doesnt worry. BUT NO a Public hospital doesnt have hot water no genarators. The food is is un eatable and I would rarther eat dog food. 1 have been in this hospital for almost 4 months and to see how they treat patients is worse then looking at dog fighting...

Big ups to Dr Machaya and Dr Lwanga My son was referred there from matatiele mtata,for beeding form his behind,he was operated he is healing well,thank you as well to the nurses at icu.

Not the place to go unless you are very broke

Best doctors who go an extra mile for their patients with the limited resources... Especially the theater, casualty and ICU doctors and nurses. They are kind, well educated, efficient, and they explain everything. It's a pity what our government is doing to the gifted and talented professionals by not supporting them...

My mom had an operation at Frere hospital at their Gynae maternity section recently, the Doctors and all the nurses were wonderful, very helpful and friendly. Dr Middleton and team keep up the good work.

been over a month now and been sent from person to person i have pictures that i have sent as well as a video of the abuse my gran had to endure on her last days on earth by the staff and frere and no one gives a s#!t. Spoken to more that 5 people and the CEO was suppose to contact me up until this very day nothing. I want answers

Great service and top of the line medical staff through out. I went to frere to get a molar pulled out, got lost, and was redirected by all staff on the facility to the correct area. On top of that I was in and out faster than you could say flash. Everything flowed super well.

Worst hospital I’ve been been to. Thankfully my parents were smart and didn’t take me there when I had to be born. If I did they would have left my mom because that’s just how they are. The service is extremely terrible, worse than any other place I’ve ever been to. A family member of mine was submitted to casualty and he was left there for days while he has broken bones and multiple organ failure. The people there may seem sweet (sort of), but don’t be fooled by fake people who don’t give a damn about anyone or if anyone dies in that hospital. Because they really don’t care at all. If they did they would take their job more seriously. They wouldn’t leave their patients to die like it’s nothing. Please don’t go to this hospital if possible. You will be wasting your time and money and get nothing out of it.

This is the worst hospital I have ever went to. From the staff to the service. I have even witnessed a child under the age of 3,suffered a third degree burn but still couldn't help the child was referred to a children's hospital in Mdantsane they weren't even given an ambulance. My partner had to request bolt for this family because she couldn't take the pain of seeing such a small child going through so much pains. EC is just bad in everything.

They messed up a surgery with my sisters teeth and then put her on the wrong antibiotics.

My grandchild was examined by more than 3 doctors for the same illness. I received the best treatment than I anticipated from a general hospital considering the large number of patients that needed attention by the same staff members. Patients from various clinics from as far as former Transkei with serious medical conditions are also attended to by the same staff. I commend the staff for their dedication to help our people, that was my experience

Not at all friendly. Caters only for the natives. Needs a serious shakeup in their management and control of their out patients in particular. The new South Africa must cater equally for all race groups. We are supposed to be one Rainbow nation.

Yhooo I would like to Thank all the Dr and Nurses @ Frere Hospital. They are so Loving and caring. they go an extra mile to make sure all patients are taken care of. was there due to car accident this week. i tell it was like we are in a health Hotel. everyone was kind ❤️

This hospital is amazing 🤩 thank you for your wonderful service and caring helpful friendly staff. My husband was transported over 300 km with acute appendicitis 70 years old to this facility and they are wonderful. They operated on Saturday morning and he was home on Monday night ...I cannot thank you enough 💖

Frere is a tertiary hospital that take more that half of Eastern Cape referrals from other hospitals....

Had an amazing experience,it felt like I was at a private hospital,friendly staff,helpful and informing .

Came into Casualty, RECEPTION TOK THEIR OWN SWEET TIME SIGNING ME IN/OPENING A FILE. Please get staff who actually want to work! Security seems more keen to help than actual staff!!!

Longest running hospital friendly staff sometimes service is good

Someone needs to supervise and discipline those nurses, they mistreat their patients.

I had the worst experience at this hospital the nurses do not care whether you are dying or not I was in the toilet after I had a miscarriage and needed assistance because I couldn’t get up from the toilet I was losing alot of blood and I was about to faint asked someone to call the nurse and the nurse said she can’t assist me while I’m inside I have to come out mind you I have zero strength to get up had to ask a patient to bring me water and pour it on my face so that I don’t become unconscious if it wasn’t for the helpful lady, lord knows what would have happened to me that night. The doctors are better some of them but when you ask many questions they get annoyed and leave while you are talking which is madness I can’t agree to everything that you are saying because you are a doctor I need more information to understand what is happening anyway this experience taught me to put myself on medical aid or I would die if I were to go back there. Their service is bare minimum 3/10.

I work here so I'm bias ,we try our best with the resources we have to our disposal to give our Clients ,Good quality and friendly nursing care.

I would like to admire the doctors of this hospital for their hardwork and commitment.

Place is easily visible as it is in the main route for taxis

It need an improvement in terms of doing more and improvement surgery every day...you can't always referred patients for a month to month that requires a special an agency surgery....

Very busy. Looooong wait so get there early to collect your medical folder. Service varies depending on the attending nurse. Doctors are usually very professional and good. Some upgrades under way.

I am not happy at all my mother was admitted there at frere Hospital and she was promised a new wheelchair but instant she was given dirty wheelchair with blood, I had wash it myself when i got home after she was discharged, Please revert back to me regarding this matter. who do i need to speak to regard this matter. Its terrible..

I'm not happy. my sister's has been attending hermatology for long time because she was diagnosed with spleen enlargement in 2015 but she hasn't find help until today and her situation is getting bad.I'm so hurt because fere was our hope that she will receive help and love a normal life again😭😭.
