Poor service. Follow up shot visit. Want to send me st Doms. Never told me on first visit follow up is elsewhere. Even though I told reception I'm here for follow up they make me wait and go through the whole form process they tell me at the end they can't help me. Pathetic. Glad I'm not here with a severed arm. They will probably make me do pushup to be admitted.

This is honestly the 1st and last time I visit this hospital. Overall experience- nurses were amazing Doctors on the other side need to work on their communication. Being told on day 6 that they need 3 more days to monitor my child’s weight which could have been done in the 6 days. I will rather travel to Joburg because the convince of being close by is not working!

Needing medical care is stressful enough but Life Beacon Bay makes the experience of recuperating even worse. Unfortunately there are no alternatives in East London, so should you have to pay these guys a visit make sure you are ready for a very frustrating experience...

As a Health Care provider I regularly refer patients to Life BB, for X rays, Neurosurgical Consultation..etc. My referred patients report back to me that Dr Muballe's manner is extremely rude, arrogant with zero bedside manner. This is most disheartening aswell as embarrassing. Will refer to other Neurosurgeon instead, Dr. Gowen...had very good feedback regarding his professionalism. Rest of Hospital is really great.

First time in my life that I experience such poor service at a private hospital the nurses lack compassion and customer service skills I expected more from a private hospital. To top it up their pharmacy close at a certain time than they want to discharge a patient past nine at night who just had a surgery without medication they should really get with the program and run a 24hour pharmacy like other private hospitals do in other provinces because at the end of the day we pay for these services. Not even worth one star if you ask me.

Dr Zwelithini Mpungana is the most amazing Doctor (Neurosurgeon) I have ever gone to. After going to many doctors to sort out back pain, I finally found someone who cared enough to help me and not just refer me on to someone else. He is so caring and professional. Thank you Sir, you are a true example of what a medical practitioner should be.

My mom got referred there with a cracked coccyx (tailbone). She was sent from pillar to post, having to sit from one chair to another just to be told the Dr she needs to see is not there. I called to try and get to the bottom of it, was transferred to a lady named Sinethemba. She gave me such a bad attitude, she didn't even give me a chance to finish explaining. Then told me she's gonna transfer the call back to reception, maybe they can assist me. Because there is currently no patients in front of her, so she can't help me. I understand all this as I've always been working in the medical field, but her tone, her attitude, it needs a lot of work. I've never even experienced this kind of attitude at a state facility.

The babe has a flue now and shenis complaining that ghe nurses there are the worst she is not planning coming there ever and moreover she almost died on the day of C section because of carelessness of a nurse.

Siya and your friends that worked with you at ICU on the 11th, night shift ,you are just bringing the hospital reputation into shame, not one of my family members will ever set foot in that hospital, the bad treatment you gave to my sister, trust me this is not the last time you hear about this.

Wow such a horrible experience when I went to deliver my baby. Everything was fine till I went to the post natal ward. No assistance taking the shower post ceasar. No pain medication given. My baby ended up in NICU and the nurses there acted like they are doing me a favour. I ended up not going to see my baby because I was so scared of the nurses there. I came out sure that i will go to Frere next time. Thanks bye

Worse hospital ever I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy, from lack of basic information from a doctor to nurses confusing medications for patients because their were incorrectly labelled from the pharmacy and using medication interchangeable for patients because its the same. To nurses comments such as saying "it must be nice to be on vacation" while your toddlers health is deteriorating every hour. I was horrified...nearly lost my baby had I not made a decision to take her to her original pediatrician in Pretoria where she had to be admitted for lengthy time just to get her to be herself again. PS: I put that star because you cannot post without it; otherwise I have nothing good to say about that horrible hospital, it waste of time and money.

ALL the ER nurses and staff here are only good at looking busy and doing nothing. Waited two hours to see an ER doctor. Ridiculous. This is supposed to be a private hospital. Unacceptable that this is what premium healthcare has come to.

I've never been soo annoyed in my life. The paediatric ward at this hospital is a total mess.. Bad service, bad attitude, no approach at all, disrespect. If only i did not know my rights i would've been stuck there while i was suppose to be long discharged. No manners from the staff, i felt like im in one of public hospitals. It took the staff 6 hours to get me to X rays, the next day, same issue until i complained and they came within two minutes... No communication as to what is causing the delay. Their beds have ticks my legs are soo sore... Im not going there ever again!!

Worst ever experience with Life Beacon Bay, my dad was admitted yesterday (09/11/2017) for a operation (Brachy Therapy), not one of the nurses or even the matron check up on him, so as of yesterday until this morning he was laying in his own faeces and blood, the staff that came on duty today (10/11/2017) had to clean him up. Where the oath that these nurses took on completing their degree. I will lay a formal complaint with the medical broad and even go to Hello Peter to expose Life Beacon Bay as to how patients are being treated.

From the ladies in the nursery to the ladies that make sure the place is clean; it was definately one of my greatest experiences in a hospital.

Absolutely pathetic. Came in for an emergency treatment at approximately 14:30 on 20170102. At 17: 27 I asked the sister on duty what's going on and she said that there were other emergencies that needed to be attended to. I have a lot of pain as I'm sitting here and what makes it worse is that there's only one doctor on duty. I c people coming in after me and been treated before me. How can anyone sit at an emergency section for more than two and a half hours. This is not acceptable.

This is the worst hospital to be in. I came in @ 8am, done C/S at 15h00. I last ate at home 7:15am , when I asked for food ,at least something light at 22:40, they said there is no food for me. M so disgusted. 16 hours wth no food.

My Doctor (Dr Chitnus) is the best and the nurses are wonderful and warm. However, I was discharged Thursday evening. Unfortunately, I forgot my powerbank and made follow up the moment I realized its not with me. Nobody has seen it, which is impossible, it can't just vanish. You would perhaps expect to lose stuff somewhere else NOT at private hospital.

The attendance of staff for monitoring medication, food, and pain killer adjustment is non existent. They left my mother pretty much unattended post-op - let her suffer in pain for an hour plus after vomiting before administering an IV pain killer; random waking up times for entire room for one other patient who had cosmetic surgery; giving food to said room occupant and not her; leaving the bed unkempt while she was in theater, after which she had to make her own bed; sitting and raucous talking after lights out at the station and with other room occupant; no monitoring or checking, BP machine showed a crash and no one came for the alarm. Gets 1 star for her not dying, pretty much a glossed up Frere, minus death as a bonus. Utterly beyond disgusting for the rates charged daily.

I was visiting my friend in the maternity ward and was dissapointed that the nurses didn't bother to greet us. We were clearly part of the furniture. No ubuntu at all. They were good to my friend though but this needs to addressed.

My husband was admitted to Life Beaconbay Hospital (Emergency) on 11/10/2023 for heart related issues. The treatment we received as a private patient with no medical aid was outstanding and the organisation of referral to Frere Hospital was done in a very satisfying manner. We are truly grateful for the help received from staff at Life Beaconbay Emergency Dept. Thank you to all from admission to security staff to nursing staff for the excellent service provided. Keep up the good work. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts

I will stick to Netcare Hospital in this province I'm in. I will not use this hospital again. I thought going to give birth at home at Life will be ncaaah but actually I'm Not satisfied with lots of things. Netcare Hospital is way better than them. The amount the medical aid paid to them they don't deserve it. The negatives overpowered some of your positives! Very useless account department that is slow. Will never recommend them. Gems must not allow their members to utilize them. Doctors there are dodgy you know.

Not impressed with security. What do they do there. Smoking where you not suppose to or just standing around chatting with other guards. Was told to be here at 7. It's past 8 still not helped as they lost my file. This is just not expected. You in so much pain then get treated like this. Incompetence bigtime!!

The care was good but the aftercare was dramatic, I was a tourist so paid almost 200 euro when I left the hospital, which they told me was everything. But now when I'm back home in my home country they are asking via mail to still pay for stuff, they don't reply or give info, they just threat with legal actions, very sad and I wish I never went there.

I begrudge even one star. The standards have declined to such a degree since my husband's last 4 visits, it is absolutely alarming. Admitted for his 9th back surgery on Monday, and his chronic medications not administered for either Monday or Tuesday. After surgery he was in 'ICU". That "care" was intensively lacking.

  • 1/5 Daleen H. 2 years ago on Google
Consultation, X Ray and diagnoses took about 15minutes overall, but I was here for just over 4hours. ER full of nurses standing around but only one doctor. Terrible service that I have to pay for. Maybe loose some nurses and get another doctor? They can take some lessons from Greenacres Hospital in PE. *Update* this automated message was sent to me on email too. I completed the survey and submitted my complaint via the link below. Even told them they can contact me should they wish to on my cellphone. Nothing heard ever since.

Hospital needs a few touches here and there with regards to maintenance, but the nurses and Dr's are one of a kind. Thank you Dr Fred Taylor for your attention and advise. Thank you Dr JamJam and staff who put in the hours and effort in helping me regain good health. Perseverance and hope is key to a safe and healthy healing environment.
