See my photos. This place is dirty! I was hoping to end my workout with a nice shower. I end up finding that none of the showers were clean. I also didn’t see at first but stepped on multiple razor cartridge covers and noticed wads of hair on the wall. This is atrocious and nasty. For 220 a month you’re better off joining equinox for less and getting a cleaner experience. Not to mention the girl at the front desk has an attitude cause she’s upset you’re interrupting her talking to her boyfriend when you walk in.. I called the front desk and she shut off the phone, it’s only 9:15.. come to find out she’s there but flirting on the company dime. I didn’t expect to be paying more for a planet fitness experience.

Would you like to cancel your membership? I’ve been a member of different gyms across and outside the US since 1995 and NEVER had anyone asked me this, much less a manager, until a few months ago at this Life Time in Syosset. (The Equinox in Woodbury charges lots less, $205 per month, and reimburses you the initiation fee after taking their physical; they don’t have a pool so happy to report I no longer pay for something I don’t like or used) The LT staff is great (especially the instructors), but things go downhill when something goes wrong. Unfortunately, I cracked my knee cap in two different spots last year in January, so I had to be immobilized for 8 weeks and then slowly started PT to recover. LT kept harassing me to restart my membership (they would actually start charging me) and requesting doctor’s notes to reimburse me. I was finally ready to start in July but obviously had to do it very slowly. I was able to start going to the gym 3 times per week by September, but out of no where they raised my dues by $30 per month without notice (less than 3 months after getting back!). When I complained, they explained that they had sent me one email (I never found the email). So I asked to speak to a manager. The manager (MC) finally called, and I asked him to change my “home” club to Syosset since I had moved here since 2021 and had no intention of ever going back to GC. After telling me “it doesn’t matter” where your home club is, I explained what I had gone through with my fissured knee and how it DID matter when things went wrong, so I needed it done. Then he asked what I wanted to sit down and talk with him about. I told him it was about them raising my dues by $360/year without letting me know. He got extremely defensive and said my membership was already well below the new member dues and there was nothing to do or talk about. For some reason I started telling MC all the ways I thought this whole situation could’ve been managed better, to which he further snapped and said “we have over 5,000 members and have no time to communicate any differently”. Maybe you shouldn’t have 5,000 members? You certainly don’t deserve them. Would you like to cancel your membership?, Absolutely, MC! I couldn’t be happier at Equinox since they do make time to listen to me (Perry at Equinox was great and patiently explained all the ways I could get the lowest cost and how I could make the best use of the club given my interest). The instructors, service, spa (Denise’s massages are amazing!), and the facilities are much better than at LT (for me). Equinox cleans the yoga mats before and after every class! (The mats at LT are absolutely gross and the wipes they provide don’t work to clean them). You can check out my review of Equinox for more awesome details.

Terrible place, paying expensive membership fee, really not worth it, my daughter had paid swimming lessons here, the lessons were cancelled for no reason, with no notice and no make-up lessons. I told their staff, nobody cares. And the swimming pool is very dirty, I have seen twice, there are guests in the pool to vomit and poop, the staff just fished it out, did not do any disinfection measures, too disgusting! I will never go there again!

What’s wrong with the employees here? Why are they so rude and racist towards non-white members? There’s a visible difference in how they treat members here. Are they trying to win the Jim Crow award for most racist gym on Long Island? To the owners, get it together and hire employees with a baseline level of human decency. And if you’re hiring racist employees, then learn how to TRAIN them to act polite. You’re charging a small fortune for membership. You need to do better.

Quality has seriously gone down. Been here for a year and in the last 3 months it just seems like the staff doesn’t care anymore. For a membership that’s $200+ you’d expect to be treated better. They’ve gotten rid of q-tips and small towels for some reason. The shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the showers are almost always empty or very watered down and filled with products that leave a film on you. It used to be filled consistently with the same stuff but every time I go now it’s a dice roll. Other members won’t acknowledge your pool reservations and lifeguards on duty won’t enforce your reservation. Gym equipment smells most of the time or is occupied by a group of 5+ high school students just sitting there but not working out. For $200+ you might as well pocket $175 and spend the other $25 at a normal gym where you’d get the same exact experience here minus a hot tub and sauna.

A wonderful gym. I especially love the Arora classes for 55+ and the programming of early, midday and late afternoon means I can always find a class that fits my needs and my schedule! The ondoor and outdoor pools makes this a great place to be!

Great gym with great amenities! Only down fall is when the pool outdoor is closed due to maintenance. Expensive, but the gym does a good job of getting you the best price as more people join on your side. Lastly, if you’re looking to join, find Keith at the front, he’s amazing and the biggest reason we joined. Staff are all amazing and make it feel like home and they make sure you’re taken care of. Highly recommend.

I have been a member at Lifetime since 02/26/2023. My son was invited to a B-day party and I was instantly hooked (signed up that day) After 7 months I can absolutely say I am still hooked. My children 13 & 8 love this place. Since joining, I have had both my mom and father in law join. I have participated in the personal training (shout out to Jonathan C, love you man!) The club is always clean, the staff is always friendly and a pleasure to work with. I have zero complaints about this location. It has put my entire family in a healthy lifestyle and I will continue to tell everyone I know to join! I can not end this review without shouting out Sean who gave me the initial tour, sold all four of us and 7 months later still goes out to say hi and Carol who has become my go to for haircuts! So far five of my family members have seen Carol and not one complaint. Jonathan, Carol and Sean, you are the reason I return 2-3/week! Hats off to you all and the entire Lifetime team! If you are second guessing based on pricing like I did, DONT! It is so worth the money! Hope to see anyone reading this there if you need a gym partner!

Life Time is not a gym - it’s a lifestyle. A country club. A spa. I come here to socialize, to do light workouts on treadmills (which connect to Apple Watch workout using NFC), to spend 15 minutes in the sauna doing some thinking, a nice shower and shave. Of course you can work out as hard as you like - there are daunting classes that would satisfy the cravings of ardent fitness enthusiasts. I prefer leaving the hard workouts to purely class based gyms in the neighborhood and use Life Time as my recharge regimen.

If people want to cancel/change membership just tell them to go to lifetime.life/change ! Stop making empty promises that someone from member services will call back! And train all staff about how Gympass works from signup to how cancellations are done!

I really enjoy being a member at Lifetime and so do my husband and children! The facility is wonderful with so much to do. The children take swim lessons and in just one school year advanced SO much it blew our minds! They were extra ready for summer! The entire staff in the aquatics department are all phenomenal. My experience with the trainers has been truly wonderful as well. Jerremy J. and Dexter C. make working out fun and very productive. I enjoy their classes. They are amazing at what they do! Aisha K. at the front desk is always so helpful and a pleasure to see each time. She really goes above and beyond and is truly a lovely person to deal with. The kids love the kids academy and also the summer camp! Overall we love the time we spend there both as a family and individually.

I had a really bad experience today at their childcare. When I went to pick up my kid they complained about that he had been trying to unplug their snowman. I went to my kid and he told me: I am hurt. He had a bump in his nose near the eye. Nobody called me about that. So I told the director. She told me that my kid shouldn’t have ever been allowed to go into their childcare because he is in the spectrum and that is not a one-to-one facility. I ask her: so my son doesn’t have the right to be here because he has autism? And she told me: well, also because he behaves very bad, so tomorrow I will talk to recommend he doesn’t come again. Great! Today that he is hurt in a class I didn’t sing him up for and with nobody noticing it…he is bad behaved. They didn’t even allow me to write a complain. They gave me the manager card and told me to call the gym during his office hours. And for the records, he is very well behave, or that is what they tell me everywhere he goes and what I see at my house. The person at the front desk complained because he said my voice was starting to be loud when I was complaining….which is true, but after being treated like that…when he told me that I just left with my card with the name of their manager on it. Also, I have to add. My son is going to PRIVATE swimming lessons, The other day I saw another kid with him in the lesson.I asked the teacher and told me: the other kid instructor is not here and I thought you wouldn’t mind if I put him with your son. It seems his autism condition didn’t cause any trouble for that. They gave me another card. I am still waiting for being able to talk to somebody and this happened before Christmas. But the girl that gives him class is nice so I didn’t insist, I thought: let it go. But If I am going to share my review, let’s share everything.

Extremely professional, highly qualified staff. Huge variety of machines and the best amenities available at any gym. Facilities are constantly cleaned. Never too crowded to do the exact workout you want even at the busiest of times. Instructor led courses are top tier and the kids section alone is a big as many others gyms.

As a mother and working professional I am constantly juggling a career while raising active children. Lifetime is an important part of our time spent together. Many staff know myself and my children and are wonderful. However, I experienced an upsetting situation in which we were left feeling demeaned and belittled, instead of understood and helped, by staff. Upon arriving at our primary club location, my son requested permission to go to the bathroom while I finished getting his two year old sister out of the car. I felt it unnecessary for my son to wait for me to scan in, and advised him to just go relieve himself in the restroom. He is fully capable of doing so on his own and due to the security of the club I have never felt the need to helicopter parent him at Lifetime, as I see members allowing capable children to utilize restrooms unaccompanied. I had to take my daughter out of her car seat, and no reason my son could not proceed in front of me considering I was at best a minute behind him. When I approached the desk I was accosted by staff in a verbally demeaning way for not accompanying him into the club. I felt compelled to relate my upset to management, as member experience has always appeared a priority. Unfortunately the response I received was both curt and dismissive. I sought not to create an adversarial situation. I merely wished to express consternation at the way in which I was admonished, and ask that a level of courtesy be extended to myself and anyone else who may infringe on any protocols. Regrettably that did not happen and has left me with a much diminished view of the club.

The worst service ever. I am with family friends came in to buy a one day pass and they won’t let me because I am not with my legal guardian. It’s the most stupidest thing I have ever heard. It took me an 1 hour to get here and I will willingly to pay money. All they do it just suck out all your money. Not worth it, LA FITNESS is way better.

I was coming in as a guest with a friend and was “greeted” by an employee (Hannah I believe) who was extremely rude and condescending. You would think with all the money these members pay, their guests would be treated with gold level service. The gym itself is stunning but if you wanna pay a lot of money and be treated well, you should try another location. I’ve seen nicer people and better service at Planet Fitness. Maybe it was the fact that I’m an older guy (43) that they were steering me towards not joining as Hannah became more rude after she looked at my ID.

Before meeting Elisha at Lifetime Syosset, I had never felt comfortable with my hair. The thought of getting a haircut always made me nervous, and I struggled to make decisions about my style. However, Elisha changed all that from the very first second I met her. Her warm, open demeanor instantly put me at ease, creating a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. She has a unique talent for understanding and executing exactly what I need, even when I can't articulate it myself. Elisha's skill and attention to detail are unmatched, making her the only hair stylist I've ever truly trusted with my hair. Each visit is a delightful experience, and I'm always thrilled with the results. I've decided that I will only go to her from now on. Elisha, please never retire – I genuinely don't know what I'd do without your exceptional talents!

Great gym, the one thing I would suggest is to stop renting out the basketball court. Lifetime doesn’t rent out any other portion of the gym. They’ve turned one of the basketball courts into a pickleball court, and the other they constantly rent out to birthday parties during peak hours.

Our family has been a member for around 4 years and there has been a steady decline across the board. Facility showing age, place is SO overcrowded that you won’t get to use any of the amenities (there is barely room to workout), outdoor pool is typically filthy and unusable, cafe staff is extremely slow and often unprofessional, list goes on…. This is now a glorified LA fitness for a lot higher premium. If you are looking for a quality gym, don’t even bother looking at this place. PS - Please don’t copy and paste a message about how my opinion is so important to management etc as I have already cancelled my membership

I don't know why many times, there were no clean towels provided in the men's locker room. Several times I had to go through the swimming pool to go to the steam room to get clean towels. Sometimes there were even no towels provide there , so we had to wait. A lot of times, when my body was wet after taking a shower, I have to wait more than 20 minutes for a staff member to bring clean towels. Sometimes it even takes more than 30 minutes. What's the point of needing a towel when I'm already dry? Especially sometimes there were many members waiting, I hope the lifetime Syosset will see this comment and address this matter, it has happened more than once or twice

If I could give zero stars to the general manager, Edwin, I would be thrilled. He has no people skills, condescending and does not evoke kindness. He needs to learn how to be a person. If I didn't use the pool on a daily basis I would terminate my membership. here's the issue I was kicked out of an empty studio as I was standing in the corner doing bicep curls bc the cleaner was wiping the mirror at the far end of the studio. she told me I am not allowed in either studio (empty) between one and 4 o'clock. Neither studio is to be used by anybody due to cleaning. I never heard that rule before. In fact, there was never a sign visible, and people have been in and out of the empty studios throughout the day. I have been a member here 13 years and never saw evidence of this rule. so upon addressing this concern with the general manager, Edwin,, his level of empathy was zero and to quote him...." Have you been happy overall with other things here?" my reply was"not really", and he said "then what are you still doing here!" Talk about a slap in the face. Who talks to a paying member for 13 years in that manner... the answer is Edwin! I pay over $200 a month to be spoken to by a smug, condescending young man. I then approached two lovely trainers, named Kaylar, and Bryan who work on the second floor. They never heard of this rule about the studios being closed between one and 4 o'clock on a daily basis. They were so kind and listened with an open heart and open mind. they should be commended for their professionalism. My recommendation is if you have a concern find Kaylar and Bryan and steer clear of this Edwin character... he is useless.

Wish I could give it zero stars. Use to be a decent fair place when they were publicly owned. Now they went private and are a very greedy company out for every last buck. The facilities are very nice but here are some issues. - BEWARE of overcharges. Every time you deactivate a member that goes to camp or pause a membership, when you reactivate they charge you a new rate. Worst part is they don’t mention it to you. - Kids that have been members for years, when they go to college they use to offer a special college rate to use the facilities during breaks. Not anymore, they did away with that. - They did away with the $2 waters you could buy in plastic bottles. In place of it you can buy their metal bottle waters for $5 each. Or drink their filtered water from the fountain (which usually has a silver light on needing to be changed.) - I paused a membership which requires 30 days notice (which I provided) and was still charged for everyone. I had to go in person to resolve it. - they don’t provide any covers for toilet seats. Unsanitary in a post Covid world. Even gyms at $20 per month offer this. Do yourself a favor. Planet fitness for $10 a month is a better investment. Until members start canceling management will just keep raising their prices and treat members awfully.

As a founding member (been there from its inception), Lifetime Fitness in Syosset is my home away from home. The place is pristine, and the staff is exceptional (special shout out to Megan Grady and Amanda Taveras-do an unbelievable job at the front). I consider Lifetime to be my private country club. I recommend this place to everyone!!!

Big & spacious facility. The equipment seems still quite new & not worn out. Love the nursery service. However, could be quite difficult to make reservations for certain items (e.g. lap pool, pickle ball, etc) sometimes, due to the demand.

The best gym. Love the classes. The spa, cafe and salon are cool to have. Wish they’d stop raising prices. Staff is friendly. Pools are clean, fresh towels. Great there’s many lifeguards, it’s safe for the pool guests.

Don’t get attached to any gym equipment because it’ll disappear within weeks, never to be seen again. Grips, weights, and machines will vanish and either never be replaced or replaced with very low quality cheap ones. You also pay over $220/month here and the shower towels are thinner than a sheet of rice paper. You end up more wet after wiping down with one of them than when you were showering. Place is also filthy all the time everywhere. Locker rooms, shower, gym floor, pool area, steam rooms. Thin towels just mentioned also always have streak marks on them and clientele just throw them on the floor and don’t clean up after themselves. Take your money elsewhere. Me and my friends and family are all planning on leaving soon.

The steam room in the men’s locker room is FILTHY. More than half of the showers also have less pressure than a leaking garden hose. Don’t even get me started on the shower products. They used to be good however for the past year, they’ve been disgusting. You can see mold and mildew building up in the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash bottles as well as the shower walls. Opened a bottle up recently and saw BLACK CHUNKS of God knows what. Oh and their towels suck. They recently added in like 10 new towels for hundreds of patrons that will actually dry you off but those have gone missing too. REPLACE ALL YOUR CURRENT TOWELS. THEY ARE FLIMSY AND DISGUSTING FOR A SELF PROCLAIMED “LUXURY” FACILITY.

Stay away from their pools! It's well-documented and talked about how people would go from the steam room to the pools to cool off. There are stairs leading into the lap pool, and people would lounge in there after the steam room and jacuzzi--100% health violation. Really want that filth in your mouth while underwater? My swim team discussed it with management, who did nothing. The front desk employees told us it was because the GM was too afraid to put up a poolside notice that it was a health violation and not to do it. I hope the gym responds here--I am happy to provide several videos of men, one after another, going from the steam room into the pool in a 20-minute period! Nassau health department has it, so hopefully they do something about it.
