Worst hospital for care. The waiting time to be seen is outrageous. HIPPA policy training needs to happen it crazy I heard other people business. Disrespect is at a the all time high from the staff. As patient we have the right to speak on our health and ask questions for correct clarification. It should not be discussed by other staff in front of the patient why they are asking about the care and treatment being given. Example: Nurse tells patient she has to be given an IV. Patient ask why will I be receiving an IV. Chatter in the background why is the patient asking why she is getting IV. What treatment does she want us to give her? Patient just wanted to know why the IV for what purposes. Why is it an issue on a patient asking what treatment and medicine she is being given? Worst experience and after being discharged I left with no answers to my problem. I went in for abdominal cramping. I was discharged with papers for abdominal pain. No answers

I initially didn’t want to write this review because I am a employee of Mount Vernon Hospital, but I make it a priority to always speak honestly about my health care and my other life experiences I have worked for Mount Vernon hospital for nine years and I have only had to come to this hospital for treatment about three or four times now I live in Mt. Vernon, so I get my primary care here but I am slowly going to talk on my experience from yesterday I went in to the ER about 11 at night they took me in. There was about 4 to 5 patients. It was not busy. I went in because I had an emergency. I fell in my house, trying to go to my bedroom. I couldn’t step on my foot I passed out trying to walk to my bed so I went into the emergency room to see if my foot was broken I went in and I don’t know the nurses name, but she was not very nice. She did not know that I worked for the hospital at the moment. When I went in, I was laying down, and she started throwing all of the things that she needed onto the bed with an attitude. Eventually, I did see a Dr. Lee the doctor was kind, but she did not have the best bedside manner. She did not fully ask me everything that happened. I tried to tell her some of the things that happened in order, but she never even asked me about my foot. She told me I need to give you IV and I need a urine sample and take some blood everything came back normal, but for the urine sample I had to go to the bathroom they did not provide me with a wheelchair. I had to ask a random nurse that was walking around to bring me a wheelchair. The doctor literally wanted me to walk to the bathroom but I wasn’t able to stand on my own. Eventually, I went to go take x-rays.Thank God my boyfriend was with me that he was able to help me onto the bed because the x-ray tech was very nice but he couldn’t help me onto the bed alone they started the IV and the blood work she took out my blood very rough She proceeded to drive the needle in and out of my hand multiple times instead of just trying to try another spot, or finding somebody that was able to find the Vein my whole hand and my arm got bruised up from them, trying to put the needle in and out of my skin multiple times I tried my best to be patient and just take the pain so I could get it over and done with so I never told her she was physically hurting me but she saw that I was uncomfortable but didn’t proceed to try to help me be comfortable they gave me two Tylenol for the pain the doctor comes back and tells me she thinks that I probably passed out because I was hot and that I fractured my foot they gave me crutches but they were too small. They didn’t give me a size that was more comfortable for me the nurse didn’t want to give me an ace band and didn’t give me any sort of shoe or boot to walk home she gave me my discharge papers told me I was able to go home and to follow up with my primary care doctor she didn’t give me any sort of medicine for the pain as I was attempting to walk out one of the Security that knows me told me why didn’t I ask for a wheelchair and I said I shouldn’t have to ask for a wheelchair if you’ve been treating me for 2 to 3 hours the doctor and the nurse should already know I cannot stand they just sent me on my way Eventually he went to the lobby and found me a wheelchair. No one helped me outside then we walked home Mount Vernon Hospital is not a bad hospital. It’s just some of the employees. Do not have good bedside manner. And I feel if you work for a hospital as a nurse, it should not matter if the person works for the hospital or does not work for the hospital. They are still a patient and you are supposed to treat the patients with kindness the EMS workers were so good with me. They helped me get down the stairs of my apartment and got me to the hospital with time to spare I will only be returning to this hospital if I have no other option I would prefer to take my healthcare elsewhere it’s not just the patients that don’t want treatment here. Majority of the employees rather die before coming here for treatment.honestly

The staff is very nasty and they are willing to argue with you Carol Wellington wanted to argue because I questioned her about just leaving me in a Hall in a wheelchair knowing that you are sick. Their behavior is hostile When I came in the emergency room at 3am the guy at the front desk was sleeping so hard I had to bang on the walls to wake him and I said are you ready to work now cause you were sleeping. This man said to me so what are you going to do about it. This put you on blast in my review

Stay away from this hospital I had went in for a mental breakdown and got admitted their for a month. Their fights between patients and staff in the mental facility daily the staff is rude and childish they kept me in the ward for over a month when I tried to get out after two weeks their care worse then the prison system, floors and rooms are a mess some of the therapists were nice they fed me 6 times a day but food is inedible sometimes undercooked the doctors are dismissive and keep patients their way longer then they should. but over all the worst psychiatric ward experience of my life

Very unprofessional nursing supervisor and doctors are extremely rude.Whoever nurse Nancy is, if that’s her real name gave me a false name at first over the phone. When I originally called “Nancy” said her name was Beverly. When I called again to speak to Beverly Ferguson they said nobody at the facility “works here by that name” then proceeded to hang up the phone, this whole hospital need to be under review.

Omg, worse most ghetto hospital in the USA, they should have gone ahead and shut it down, even in third world countries you get better service, staff here is very very rude, doctors don’t know what they are doing, they only thing they are good at is gossip while on duty and ignoring their patience, I feel bad for anyone who went there, including myself, I wouldn’t even call this a hospital. If y’all don’t like your job just quit, instead of making patients life miserable.

My friend had cataract surgery there recently. They were not very attentive….. that’s the polite way of saying they pretty much ignored her. Prior to her surgery they kept asking her if she was OK. She told them she was freezing three different times and all three times they said they would bring her bring her a blanket. No one did. She was crying at one point and came out to the waiting room to tell me and no one even noticed she was gone…. It’s not the care that should be expected from a Montefiore facility or any place that refers to themselves as a hospital.

How is it you stand on waiting line for 10 minutes to be told you are now to late for your appointment and can not be seen. My time is also important considering it took two months to get the appointment. Time for a switch I'm done with you Mount Vernon

Attention Patients Relations Department, I had a love one that was brought to the Hospital Emergency Room. They were transported via Ambulance from their Mental Health provider for high fever. He was tested for Covid after 3 hours, and sat there for (9) HOURS. THE TEST CAME BACK NEGATIVE. What happened to RAPID Testing??? We called for information and left our phone number. Nobody as in ER Doctor or Charge Nurse NEVER called us BACK. Our love one who has Mental Health Challenges was IGNORED. He was never given any food or water. He on Medication, if someone called us BACK this information could have been extended. When he was released all he said was I never felt so Disrespected. The Level of Quality Assurance is ZERO. If he truly needed to have a Serious Medical issue addressed would this have happened?

This is the absolute worse hospital and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. The nurses are rude and insensitive and the "doctors" are not knowledgable and they misdiagnosed my husband who had suffered a stroke. Instead they gave him a bunch of pills for his pressure and sent him home when he could barely walk. I feel we have been traumatized by this hospital. (This is not the first time we have tried them for emergency care and it's been the same thing) If you care for your life and your loved ones stay away from this place.

I don’t think I have enough words to tell you what a great experience I had with both surgeries done two months apart. First my doctor/surgeon Bijou Nfor, not only she’s the nicest person ever but she’s experienced, professional and did an amazing job. Then a huge thank you to miss Jackie from the surgery unit. She’s very friendly, encouraging, and boy does she know her job! I literally couldn’t ask for a better one. Also, all the other professionals involved were a pleasure to have them around and taking care of me. Needless to say I’m very happy with everything and everyone that made the 2 surgeries feel like a walk in the park…and they were both foot surgeries 🙃. Thank you guys, you are the best!

Hands down worst hospital. I went to the emergency room and the doctor literally asked me 2 questions and then said he’ll be back and never came back. He didn’t even introduced himself. I was in the hospital for 6 hours. The staff is not kind at all except the security and receptionist.

Last night we visited the E.D. Everyone we encountered was professional and friendly. Each detail of care was explained. The Associates were exemplary. Our thanks to the E.D. Team.

EVERY LAST NURSE THAT WORKS IN THE ER DEPARTMENT THAT ARE OF CARRIBEAN ORIGIN SHOULD BE FIRED. I WILL CALL AS SOON AS I GET THINGS TOGETHER ON MY END, BUT 1199 BETTER NOT ASK ME TO SAVE THEIR JOBS, GET RID OF ALL OF THEM AND PUT NEW ONES IN ,THAT CARE, KEY WORD CARE, THOSE NURSES ARE JUST THERE FOR A PAYCHECK, NO EMPHATHY WILL EVER COME FROM THEM UNLESS IT'S ATTACHED TO A DOLLAR SO THEY CAN GET THEIR NAILS DONE AND BUY A NEW WIG, YEAH I SAID. AND TO THAT HEFFER THAT SHOVED THOSE ASPRINS IN MY HAND U SHOULD BE THE FIRST TO BE FIRED.

The service Nurses and Dr' s are very good. Howver management is horrible.I asked the nurse when was the last time she was tested at the hospital she said we don't get tested. They don't test the staff for covid at all unless they show symptoms. Horrible, what if they are asymptomatic ? they will infest the entired staff and patients. Get it together Management. Test your staff on a weekly basis like other hospitals do. PROTECT YOUR STAFF , FAMILES AND PATIENTS. ...

I was rushed to the hospital by ambulance with covet. I was taking excellent care of. The nurses were amazing. They allowed my husband to stand next to the door and wave to me and talk to me. The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is because my hospital room was disgusting. Roaches were coming up out of the shower drain.

I’m calling to schedule an ultrasound and as they answer they hang up. If that’s how communication works I don’t want their service.

EDIT* 9/21 I had my second surgery and once again nothing but nice things to say!!! Jackie and Jermaine were my nurses and were awesome! I want to thank my doctor Dr.Isaacson for doing my surgery and to the entire staff who works at the ambulatory surgery center. Never once did I not feel safe they made sure I was comfortable and took very good care of me. If you need surgery please do not hesitate these people care about their patients and are very compassionate. I have nothing but good things to say about this hospital. I went in for surgery today (8/31/23) and from the moment I walked in I was greeted by a nurse name Sharon and she was very sweet and calmed my nerves. All the staff are very sweet, compassionate, and caring. I recommend this place for anyone having surgery! My doctor did an amazing job on my foot and I am very pleased. I will be getting another surgery and will come back here 100%! The level of care I received was above and beyond.

I have been going to this hospital since it was New Rochelle Hospital, then Sound Shore Hospital, never had an issue. For several years I have been a patient at the Montefiore Clinic ( I believe now it's called Montefiore Health Center). The doctors are excellent very thorough and caring. I have absolutely no complains. The ladies that work at the front desk are very friendly and the nurses and residents that work with the doctors are all terrific. Besides being a patient of the Health Center, I have visited the ER on occasion, the Lab, and various other departments in the hospital and have never had any issues.

I went here for my COVID vaccines, and all the staff were very kind, outgoing, and helpful. A good experience on the whole.

This place is horrible. In the ER and the attending physician never even took time to see me personally, did not help me in distress, they tried to send me home weak and unable to walk.. and when an administrator was called to intervene.. she said she will get to it when she has a chance and couldn’t say when cause she was “very busy”also the nurse gave a very dismissive attitude after I fell when she was trying get me out.. only to later tell me I had to stay until a social worker came in the morning because they then realized my discharge plan needed more thought. Please try to avoid here if it’s medically possible. They’ve been thinking about closing it and as much as I don’t want some to lose their jobs, I see exactly why

The worst expeience ever in the ER. A naked person stood in front of my son’s doir and when I went to speak to the Dr on call, she told me that she is not speaking to me she is busy. She was extremely rude and dismissive. Dr. Ehlow is very unprofessional.

Omg this place is horrible .. if you love yourself or the person that is feeling ill … go anywhere but here . I can’t . This place needs to get shut down . Been here 4 hours .. haven’t seen not one doctor yet . I haven’t even gotten water ! Incredible . Like this is sad . I’ve never given a review and I felt it’s necessary for me to give one now . That’s how bad . This don’t even deserve one star
