Driving past St Joseph and saw all the good reviews at this place so we decided to have lunch there. Simple home style Cafe and it was pretty good. I like the small simple menu and they have different specials everyday. Very good prices too. I ordered the Taco Burger with fries and it was really good. Everything tasted nice and fresh and good quality food. I like the crinkle fries. Wife ordered the "special" which was ham and bean soup and it was above average good. Plus she got three small sides with it and all three were good (deviled eggs, macaroni salad and potato salads). My daughter ordered the Philly cheese steak sandwich and it looked and tasted very good. We got there at 1:35pm and they close at 2pm. They were very nice and had no problem seating us with less than half hour of closing. The service was great and the waitress was very friendly. I highly recommend this place.

As always, a very delicious breakfast meal. The cooks always get the food prepared so quickly and the servers are alway so friendly. Thanks for the great food and service! I believe it's just 💵 "cash only" accepted here, but don't let that detour you.

Small diner, bustling on a Thursday morning. Fast service . Friendly staff who knows their customers. Classic breakfast menu with super affordable pricing. Very happy my family brought me here when I came in from out of state!

A throwback to the days of the corner diner, Betty's is very popular. Bring your cash and arrive early, for seating is limited and they only take cash. Also arrive early because the daily pies don't last long. The food was good. The prices reasonable. The service a bit unprofessional, but friendly all things considered.

If you're hungry, traveling through St. Joseph, Missouri, and want simple comfort food at a good price, then stop at Betty's Cafe. It's a somewhat rough, aging diner. They accept cash only and are only open for breakfast and lunch (closing at 2 pm) The menu is extensive (including a lot of side dishes) and the portions are plentiful. Contrary to what their T-shirts say, they accommodate special requests. They have freshly made pies and desserts if you can get any before they're sold out.

Stopped in for breakfast. Was not disappointed! Excellent service and great food. The pancakes here are really good, almost like wedding cake. I would highly recommend eating here, prices are really good too.

Service was excellent. Biscuits and gravy was great. Only thing I didn't like was that they used canned mushrooms on my omelet.

It's always so good. They have been around since I was a child, and even has the same waitress from 33 years ago. The only thing I've ever had was biscuits and gravy, and they are exceptional. A good, relaxed atmosphere there, very casual and laid back. Full menu is served all day, and they open at 5am. Would recommend to anyone looking for a good quality small diner!

Bustling place. Luckily we arrived in between busy spurts. Waitress was quick to acknowledge us. Quick to bring hot coffee and very, very pleasant. Informative, knew her specials and helped me decide. Food arrived quickly after ordering. Every one we observed eating seemed happy/pleased during their meal. Reviews were good. Food was good. Ample serving sizes. Affordable prices. Cooked as ordered. While many reviews expressed a lack of seasoning. I did appreciate that our food wasn't extremely salty. Today there were 2 specials were #1 was two pancakes, eggs, bacon, and #2 was biscuits and gravy, eggs and bacon. We also ordered a side of hashbrowns with gravy on the side. All of this and 2 cups of coffee for less than $20. The atmosphere was worth the trip. Food decent. Coffee was hot and fresh. Waitress was top notch. Enjoyed finding this home town style restaurant. Thanks for making these two travelers feel at home and welcome. Recommend this location. Will check it out again on another trip through here.

Fast and friendly service. Take cash only. Showed up at 1:30 they close at two. The place was full of customers. Special was a cabbage roll. Like bell pepper stuffed with hamburger and rice a tomato sauce quite tasty. I'll try the chicken fried chicken next time . Real mashed potatoes with brown or white gravy. Breakfast was basic bacon and eggs and hash browns and toast. Also good and warm. I got reason cream pie to go .yummy!!

Really nice place. The staff is super friendly and quick. The deviled eggs were awesome (almost as good as my wifes). I didn't care for my main meal which was a chicken fried steak. It was kind of bland and lacked seasoning in the batter. They are also cash only so be prepared.

Small town diner feel with very friendly staff. Good food and great prices! We come here often and are never disappointed. Friendly reminder, they are CASH ONLY. My favorite is the chicken fried steak!

Looked on Google reviews for a good place to eat breakfast in Saint Joe Missouri this place came up with a 4.7. The food was terrible. Ask for over medium eggs I received over hard. Both yolks were cracked. It’s not sausage gravy it’s chicken gravy. I am from the south we don’t care what kind of gravy it is but this stuff is terrible. Go someplace else!!!!

Breakfast was amazing. I Order the biscuits and gravy two eggs scrambled and two sausage links with hashbrowns. The hashbrowns had a good buttery flavor the biscuits were fluffy with good flavor. This establishment is not a fan of salt so if you like salty stuff you’ll have to add your own salt.I also had the breaded cauliflower for an appetizer and everyone enjoyed. Friends had same thing I did a side of wheat jelly toast and French toast. Service was fast food came out fast drinks were always topped off.

They have the best breakfast in town I love it, and on top of that some random guy decided to pay for our breakfast with out us knowing I just wanted to say thank you very much and God bless you .

VERY small building. Not many places to park when busy. Tables are very close together. They sometimes sit 2 separate parties together at bigger tables when seating is limited. Everyone bumps into each other. It's always loud, due to so many people in such a small area. But the food is always great.

The food was delicious and served so quickly. Easily the best pancakes we have ever eaten. The servers worked as a team to keep everyone in the restaurant happy. Overall this place should get 10 stars!

Got lucky finding this place online; went a little off our route to go for breakfast and were not disappointed - Lorie was our main server and did an excellent job. All staff were great and food was excellent. Atmosphere friendly and lively.

Excellent place to eat and great service... definitely my type of place to eat... Private business (no franchise), so the meals are cooked there daily from people just like you and me....

This place is awesome, a very old school cafe with excellent breakfast, excellent service and very familiar place. They make you feel home with great food.

Small diner with familiar selections. They have specials everyday and the food is good. Try the bubba hash browns or the hash browns with chili. OMG. They also have homemade pies and pretty darn good cinnamon rolls.

I've lived in the Southend all my life and I can honestly say that Betty's Cafe is a staple of the South's pride! I will say that it should be noted that they only take cash as payment, period. It can be surprising if most people don't know ahead of time and the closest ATM is across the street at the Nodaway Valley Bank. Of course they sometimes anticipate this so they will allow you to go withdraw money and come back and pay which is awesome. Other than that they are amazing!

The food is hot and many choices. Even when they are busy the waitress is very nice and never let our drinks go empty. Very good food and prices are very reasonable. The daily specials are never the same.
