Last visit not good. Very different than what we expect from them. The service was slow and very inconsistent. I asked for my dish spicy and it came out with cinnamon sticks innit and tasted like sugar. They made it sweet. Not spicy. It was awful, but didnt have heart to tell them. Why would spicy come out super sweet. Unedible sweet. It was my wife and I 5 year wedding anniversary and it was bad. We love their food we wanted them for that meal. I should have showed them and let taste. It truly made em question going back beacuse that is a huge mistake. I said hot and spicy. Not Vindaloo spice but hot. And they made it sweet. Wow!! The gentleman taking care of us seemed like he did not know what doing. Maybe we go back. Unsure. Amazing Indian place on Hope St that is 100% authentic. I'll let you know a secret!?!? We were on our way to Rassoi, which we often frequent, but stopped here instead and wow were we impressed! They also have a spice place across the street, where they are actually able to deliver authentic spices across to Just Snacks to make authentic, tasty and clean Indian meals. My wife and I had stuffed Aloo Tikki, lentil soup, garlic Naan, Chicken Vindaloo and Tikki Masala. All very good and some outstanding and a few best I have ever had in life. The Naan was the best Naan I have ever had and their Stuffed Aloo Tikki was the best I had ever eaten. My wife said her Tikki Masala was outstanding. My Vindaloo had all the right spices and just the right amount of Vindaloo heat. Some places want to kill with you heat, but forget the flavor of the dish and others vice versa. Not Just Snacks hits the flavor profile and heat perfectly! If I had to give something back it is the Lentil soup. It is not that it wasn't good. It was, but out of everything else it wasn't the best as everything else was. Wonderful meal. We can't wait to be back !! Thanks Not Just Snacks!

My original review was 5 stars but I've since had to edit. My family has been coming here for so many years, the entire staff knows us by name. They have some of the best prices on authentic Indian food in the state. The atmosphere is also very homey. Recently, we noticed a sign in the window (see picture) that made us feel unwelcome and unsafe. We'll be going to other places in the area instead.

I've been waiting so long to check this place out. I am not disappointed either. First off, I love the name , 'Not Just Snacks.' There is a lovely dining area inside and some tables outside as well. The hand painted murals are unique and wonderful conversation pieces of art. NJS has a great menu list and I can't rave enough about the actual dishes. Presentation and taste. The ladies are genuinely beautiful waitstaff with complete knowledge of everything on the menu and the shop as well. NJS is now my favorite place for authentic

It was absolutely great. We've been to other places and this one had the best variety, the best flavoring and more personal attention. We didn't even leave yet and already discussing going back again.

One of the best food places in Rhode Island. My orders are always fresh and filled with flavor. Tastes homemade. The girl at the front desk is very kind always. Absolutely love this spot! Highly recommend!!!

I love the authentic, non-pretentious vibe of this place. You walk in and there is a counter with quick bites and packaged Indian treats in a clean but weathered deli case. You can be seated but they are briefed for rapid to-go foods. I'm a fan of the Seder-esque plating of the food in the little tin compartments, my girlfriend loves the little Jalebi it includes. I had a delicious tikka masala, it was on the spicer side rather than sweet. I appreciated the distinct gluten free options! Next time I will have to try the salted lassi. Food was of great quality and very well priced (((cash only))), wish there was something like this back home.

DEFINITELY don’t get enough recognition. Between the amazing and authentic flavors to the best prices for the quality, hands down probably the best India in the area! Always super nice too.

we ordered a takeout from this place today evening and it was aweful. Masala Dosas were stale. Sambar looked more like bhindi (Okra) curry. Pakora was super-stale and I could not even eat that. My friend had Chicken Tandoori and he said it was ok. In general, food was cheaper than some of the other Indian restaurants but I am not going back unless they improve a lot.

The owner of this fine establishment is a true gentlemen. You are greeted and welcomed here like family. The food is, without a doubt, the most authentic and of superior quality among all halal South Asian restaurants in RI. Thank you for providing exceptional customer service, the amazing variety and quality of food, and making each patron here feel like family. I look forward to many more years of dining at Not Just Snacks.

Impressive food and prices. I have gone with my husband twice in the past 2 weeks. We go from Warwick to Providence/Pawtucket just to eat there. Love this place !!!

was nostalgic for southall, london so i came here and was soooo happy i did. got dosa (my obsession at this point), some grilled chicken, and gulab jamun. very cozy and filling, and so affordable (!!!) server was hospitable and kind, we made great convo about his home country and his time in rhode island. great family business to dine in or take out. across the street is "not just spices" with great ingredients you can't find in major rhode island grocers. love the creativity in the names.

The worst food I ever had. Please save your taste buds and your money. I ordered malai kofta and I still can't figure out what they served me. There panipuri cold and I can't even describe how bad it tasted.

Not sure of the hype. We came here on recommendations that it was legit the best Indian. We wanted to just try it out, so we got a bunch of the snacks and so on. Literally everything we got had been cooked, then reheated. The samosa were clearly reheated, and a bit oily. The pakoras were barely warm, and clearly reheated from a previous cook, which resulted in a soggy, limp pakora. We tried the chicken rolls, and it was very off. Clearly reheated, again, but the filling was weird, dark brown but flavorless. The pain puri should’ve been a win, the tamarind was tasty, the masala water was good, and the Chana was good, but the puri was stale, which ruined the dish. We always like to give places a fair shot, so I’m sure we’ll be back, but spending $25 for a lackluster “snack” might take a while to get us back there.

It's such a perfect, delicious hidden gem. Very relaxed, homey atmosphere. Authenticly delicious food. Our (4) samosas were forgotten, so we'll see if they will just give them to us next time line they promised. Either way, I do love this place!

This place is amazing. I've never ordered something here I didn't love. The butter chicken is life changing. I'd work here and be paid in food if I didn't have bills 🤣

Service was incredibly odd. The young man who took our order was weird to a point where we had wished someone else would handle us because of how uncomfortable things got. Not particularly attentive either. But... That aside the food was fine, and incredibly decently priced. They even had specials including Baigan Bharta and it was great. They didn't have Naan available which was a bummer but overall I'd say this is a decent option for Indian food in the area.

Second time eating here. Took the family years ago. Plenty of dairy free options. Indoor or outdoor seating. Very inexpensive. Great staff!

For someone who have been to many many Indian restaurants this wasn't the one for me.Good prices and service was good. However the food wasn't worth the visit for me.I ordered pani puri ,tea and dosa.None of them lived the bar of an indian food.

I don't know how I feel. Was dragged in by reasonable prices and wanted to like it, but I guess it means the price comes at the expense of other things. The Malai Kofta was just mind-boggling. Weirdly sweet, no color, just pale and milky as if they'd forgotten to put tomatoes. The dumplings also tasted old and/or reheated. The samosas (veg and meat) were decent but the meat ones were cold. Goat biryani was just ok. The spices were dialed way back (as well as hotness), had no fragrant spices aroma and muted flavor profile (I expected cardamom, fenugreek and other whole spices). Was plenty ghee-ey though. Goat meat was half decent. Tender bits and flavorful but a few stray boney and gelatinous bits. Garlic Naan was acceptable albeit a little chewy and lacked char. Lassi was good, although I like it a little thicker and sweeter. I'm not mad for the price (it is cheaper than other Indian places and maybe caters to students?) but not sure I'd order again. Can't weigh in on atmosphere but service was alright, maybe a little curt. The person who rang me up wasn't rude but came across as a bit frustrated overall (I understand how food service can be). I had to ask to leave a tip and wasn't shoved a tablet in front of my face with 25% suggested tip?!?!? Haven't found THE Indian restaurant in PVD (India restaurant is not it). Too bad Jaya's Kitchen in East Providence closed. Ok I'm stopping ranting.

Writing this on behalf of my friend based on such a disappointed experience after highly recommending this place to him. He Went in for dine in but ended up going to the front desk for a take out. After showing him to a table, people at the front desk were too busy on their mobile phones to give menu or wait his table even after 15-20 minutes of waiting when the place is not busy at all and two people are working at the front desk. Food was good but dining experience was very disappointing.

This place is honestly the most solid, delicious, and consistent Indian restaurant in Rhode Island. Food always on point and the prices are good. My only gripe, which doesn't matter in the slightest, is that I wish they had more comfortable seating for when you decide to dine in.

I got mattar paneer with naan. It was excellent. The paneer was *exactly* what I was hoping for: a touch of sweetness, a tiny kick of spice, and rich flavors with every bite. I look forward to coming back here next time I’m in Providence.

This is the worst Indian food and service I have ever had, spare yourself the sick stomach you'll have after eating at this place. Their Masala tea was made with spoiled milk, the Tandoori chicken has enough salt to kill a horse and very very dry! The Bhajia was Sally and disgusting as well. Never will we eat at this establishment again!!

Listen. Listen. Real indian food prepared very well. Extremely flavorful. Incredible prices I’d pay double and be happy. Do not, and I repeat DO NOT go to “India Restaurant” on Hope Street without trying this first. They give indian food a bland name

I got the paneer tikka masala with garlic naan and it was delicious!! Perfect seasoning and flavor.

Wonderful, home style Indian food with tables outside. A bonus is they also own Not Just Spices across the street, where you can do some grocery shopping.

I had to go the restaurant for pickup some food. While waiting I thought of trying the samosas, rolls and some dry stuff so I got one each. When I started eating them they were super OLD and super stale that I had to chew them so hard. They are supposed to be fresh and crunchy. I asked the guy who was honest enough to tell me they were from yesterday or maybe older. I had placed another to go order so I asked the girl at checkout to replace them with fresh ones if she has or just give me something fresh instead she rudely answered I cannot do anything thats it.
