AVOID THIS HOSPITAL AT ALL COST!!!! My elderly relative had a fall in this hospital while under their watch. Solution was to put him into bed restraints instead of properly monitoring him. He has received substandard care and they continue to milk his health insurance. Tried to contact Ashley Oliver and have heard nothing back. Notice the soiled bed linens just hanging out in the photo….Just one small example of how this hospital is failing its patients. Avoid interaction with Case Manager Deb (6west), shouted at me, zero people skills.

Weird experience. First the lady said we had to wait in the waiting room and maybe until the next day this was at 9pm. She was ver rude and uncaring. Then we watched a young lady come in with what appeared to be a broken wrist. She was in so much pain she couldn’t breath well. They didn’t even get her a wheelchair to keep her from falling if she passed out. It was like a non- emergency room. On the good side , the nurses were very nice and efficient.

I went in for a 15 minute procedure, was told to be there at noon and procedure was scheduled for 1 pm. My procedure didn't begin until 2:30, making me fast for 15 hours. My glucose wasn't checked until I requested it even though I am a diabetic. My nurse, Heidi, was caring and compassionate, and made sure I was comfortable. She tried to keep things moving although the surgeon was overbooked. The tech and anesthesiologist were great. After the procedure we should have been able to leave at 4pm but waited until 5:30 for the surgeon to speak, briefly, with us. I had to ask to be taken down in a wheelchair, the nurses were busy having a "chat fest" about vacation spots. The nurse who wheeled me down seemed perturbed to have to do so. That made me feel like a bother. We left so late that my elderly husband had to drive the two hours home in the dark.

This was the most horrible ER experience of my 43 years on this earth. My 71 year old Mom was brought by ambulance to McClaren Bay, Aka: Bay Dead. This was the closest hospital to get her help ASAP. Big mistake. The hospital is very dirty, poorly ran. Very rude nurses and ER doctor with no caring bedside manner of any kind. They refused to transfer my Mom by ambulance to the UofM hospital in Midland for me. She refused to be admitted into McLaren for good reasons. They ran numerous test which all took a grand total of 6 hours with no answers in the end as to why my Mom was having a low oxygen level. Then they refused to transport her back by ambulance to Bay Medical Care Facility from which she came. My Mom was so weak she couldn't walk and they didn't even want to wheel her out to my vehicle in a wheelchair. They brought me the wheelchair to do it. They wouldn't help me transfer her from bed to chair. Then they brought 7 ppl outside trying to figure out how to put her in my vehicle in which I told them do not touch her, cause it was clear they had no knowledge of patient transfer at all. I told them to get an ambulance here ASAP to take her back to the facility safely and I would just pay for the ambulance ride myself as they said they wouldn't approve insurance to cover it. So this is the local hospital where the community is taking loved ones to be NOT cared for properly. DO NOT take your loved ones to McLaren Bay Dead under any circumstances. Please do not. This place is not fit for a dog even little along your Mom, Dad, etc. This hospital should be condemned.

I would give this place zero stars if that were a possibility. I was taken to the ER due to an emergency. The nurse was completely incompetent and misplaced the IV which caused my arm to swell. I was released from the ER and taken down to the Radiology Department the next day to check for internal damage. After that, I waited on the medical floor for FOUR Days to see a Psychiatrist. I was petitioned by the court to receive mental health care, but their doctor refused to see me. Once a doctor finally did show up to consult with me, I explained that I did not trust the care I would receive from this facility. Doctor Nicholas coerced me to stay in their Psych Ward by promising to remove the petition. To say that I received treatment in their Psych Ward would a lie. It was a glorified day care center for adults. All I received was a diagnosis and pills. Don't worry though, there were plenty of coloring sheets to keep us occupied. I have tried to communicate with Ashley Oliver, their worthless patient representative, about removing charges off of my bill. I specifically asked for the four days when I was neglected by their Psych Doctor as well as the bill I received from their radiology department to be removed. The hospital conducted an internal review and came to the conclusion that they have done nothing wrong, and since the bill has already been issued there's nothing they can do to fix it. Here's the problem. Ashley told me over the phone that McLaren Bay Region had it on record for me being in the radiology department was due to the lacerations on my arm and back. They never once checked my lacerations at the radiology department and, after I reviewed my medical records, I saw that they had it on file I was given an ultrasound to check for Venous Thrombosis. I can't call anyone from the hospital about this, because they have blocked my phone number. I have sent them an email about this, and they still haven't replied. After reading the reviews, it's clear that McLaren Bay Region does not give a damn about their patients. This hospital is nothing but a cesspool of negligent liars and frauds! You would be better off dead than in their care. I have already submitted a complaint with the State Department and opened an Investigation with the Attorney General. If you or a loved one needs medical attention in Bay City, take them anywhere else. You do not want to do business with these people. I was taken here by an ambulance and had no say in where I would end up, so trust me when I say that this is not a hospital that cares about treatment for patients who need it. They only care about money.

Worst hospital ever! My grandma had just died and when we arrived to see her for the last time, an elderly volunteer led us back and forth throughout the whole hospital trying to track down security personnel instead of letting us wait while she brings them to us or gets things sorted first. Then we end up in the ER and the lady at the front desk was a witch. The old lady was annoying the ER lady about getting us up there to see my grandma, Then the ER lady said really loud “well I have live patients to care for!” How utterly disrespectful and unprofessional!!! I will never forget this, on one the saddest days of my life!!! Go to Saginaw, not Bay City, they’re a bunch of clowns there!!

I had the best care I could imagine. From the emergency room to the operating room. Every nurse, nurses aide, CT gals, phlebotomy, ER staff and transport. I highly recommend McLaren Bay Region. My needs were met and the entire staff were efficient and caring. I am very pleased with my entire four day stay at the hospital.

Not a new statement on these reviews but the only reason I gave even 1 star is you have to to leave a review. I’d rather give a negative number. I was transferred there for kidney stones and dehydration. Even though I repeatedly asked to see a doctor I didn’t talk to one for over 20 hours. I was ignored and mistreated and treated in a completely unprofessional manner. One nurse got loud with me right after surgery because I wanted to ask questions about my care. At 7 at night. Sleep tight other patients. That being said my other nurses were absolutely wonderful and I hope they can all find jobs at somewhere else because I found this to be the worst hospital I’ve had the displeasure of staying in. They should be ashamed of themselves.

I always receive great care, however, central scheduling for testing is a struggle at best. I was ordered an ultrasound to rule out a DVT, after I attempted to contact them, several times, I got through almost two weeks later, then over a week for the test. They said, "yes, we have the order", and I only got it scheduled after I contacted them. Thank goodness I didn't have a DVT. All other services, I have been involved in, are great. Thank you, Pam Doan

The nursing staff and doctors were great. I had to ask to have my sheets changed which then weren't. I took a shower and left the towels on the shower floor because there was no other place to put them after use. They sat there for two days. Someone else's feces on the toilet seat for two days. On and on. I'll go to Saginaw next time.

I had knee surgery at McLaren Bay City. The experience was wonderful from start to finish. All staff were friendly, the facilities were clean and organized. And I was spared pain by all their efforts. I continue to follow up with McLaren for post op and am just as pleased. Thank you for taking such great care of me!! -Kerrie

This is for Stacy in medical records! I was misdiagnosed at McLaren, and needed to get my records. This is usually a nightmare, as hospitals are so critically understaffed, I was putting it off. I finally called yesterday, and Stacy was beyond helpful. She was kind, personable, and got me taken care of. I am thankful for you Stacy, and hope McLaren recognizes your hard work $$!

I am a patient at Cardiac Rehabilitation, West Campus. The Cardiac Rehab staff is the best. They care about their patients, work with each of us, answer endless questions and encourage and support us to achieve our goals. McLaren and their cardiac patients are blessed to have this group of dedicated professionals caring for us.

I was in for carotid surgery last week. All went well and staff from check-in, pre-op (Ashley, Jim, Jeremy?), post-op (Eric), and in room in CCU (Mary Ellen, Christine and Chandler) were very knowledgeable, kind, listened well, and made my stay a great experience. Anesthetist (sorry I cannot recall his name) explained everything well and assured me he knew what to watch for. Dr. Mouawad and team had no surprises in OR and my wife was kept informed of progress.

My experience in labor and delivery is always amazing, the nurses always do an amazing job and they are so caring. And of course I can't forget my favorite doctor, Dr. Stryker, wouldn't have wanted anyone else to deliver my babies. I absolutely love her.

I cannot say enough about my stay at McLaren. What started out as an emergency visit for stomach pain turned into an appendix removal! Imagine the stress! Well, each and every nurse, aide, doctor, and surgeon made my stay comfortable, relaxing, and less stressful. I walked in at 7 p.m at the E.R. and Connor was a wonderful nurse who answered every question I had, even the dumb ones. By 3 a.m. I finally had gotten a room. The room was clean, comfortable, and cozy with no roommate and my own private bathroom and shower. My night nurse upstairs, Regina, set me at ease and made sure I was 100% taken care of at all times throughout the night. My day nurse Amanda, was an absolute sweetheart and eased my nerves about everything going on. She made sure I had peace of mind throughout most of the day during my stay. I really appreciated all her conversations and kind words. And lastly, I would like to acknowledge Renee, Nan, and by god I cannot think of the name of the woman who wheeled me back to my surgery but she was an absolute Angel and made me soooo comfortable and was very patient with me. Now to finalize this review, I want to dedicate a giant shoutout to DR. FAHY, my surgeon who performed my appendectomy. Dr Fahy was patient, kind, considerate, caring, and above all knowledgeable and dedicated to his practice. With my terrible anxiety regarding hospitals in general, I couldn’t have made it through this without him. He explained to me EVERYTHING. He took his time and listened to what I had to say, and he answered hundreds upon hundreds of questions I had. Dr. Fahy is god sent and any patient of his is lucky to have him. McLaren should be honored to have such a fine individual to represent their operation and brand. So in conclusion, thank you to everyone who helped me through this difficult time and made my stay ENJOYABLE. The staff at McLaren KNOW what they are doing! They care! They are dedicated! If you are going to go anywhere and are hesitant, choose this hospital! I would recommend this McLaren to ANYONE! You will be cared for like royalty here! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I experienced the best, most caring staff during a recent stay at McLaren Bay Region this past week. The nurses and staff were patient, kind, supportive, efficient, and personable. I felt truly taken care of and like I was their only patient (even though I know I wasn’t). I cannot express enough my thanks and gratitude!

Everyone was wonderful. Thoughtful and caring. No one rushed at doing things for my broken wrist. It didn’t take long for me to be seen. I am very happy with how I was treated. I go back again next week for another. Cast. They are keeping up on my wrist. They are wonderful there.

Great birth team! Both of my children were born here. One needed an emergency c-section and the nurses were quick and efficient. Their attentiveness and swift action saved her. The other was delivered naturally, again with the encouragement and support of amazing nurses. Excellent lactation support and postpartum care too. We are so grateful to them!

The labor and delivery floor/team was absolutely wonderful to work with. They were quick to get everyone assembled on a Sunday to perform a c-section safely. The entire team was warm and supportive to both my husband and myself when we were both a little bit terrified. Our baby was safe and healthy and that’s all we could ask for. Wonderful and attentive nursing staff and lactation consultant was also great to work with. Overall I had a great experience.
