This place is a nightmare. the management is awful and they don’t train their employees. i was given false information by their staff which almost got me evicted before i even moved in. they will call you and verbally harass their tenants over the phone. their office is never open so all your mail will go to hillcrest which is just an added headache. as someone who has lived at both hillcrest and oakwood, i wouldn’t recommend either. the management will enter you apartment unannounced, everything breaks, and their maintenance is useless. i found black mold in my unit and they sprayed it with vinegar and told me it was fine… it proceeded to grow. save yourself the headache and never live at hillcrest or oakwood.

This has been by far the worst living experience I have ever had. They have the worst management I’ve ever had to deal with. Sent random charges on my last month of living there. Labeled damages as “misc” so I didn’t know what I was being charged for. The property manager didn’t help with any problems I had while living here at all. For the last month and a half I was here they continued to have maintenance come to my apartment without any sort of notice. For example I woke up one morning at around 8:30 to maintenance already in my apartment without any notice at all. Overall didn’t enjoy it and would not recommend living here.

Received a false ‘trash removal’ fee after moving out when my room was swept & spotless prior to moving out. Multiple people who lived here had poor experiences due to poor property management. We had a person living in our apt for 4 months who wasn’t on the lease due to the bed space being unlocked by maintenance. Received the wrong mail key multiple times. Mailboxes were moved to another complex. Would not recommend living here. All around bad experience.

My time at Oakwood was terrible. The reason for this is because they tricked me in signing another year contract for two years from now stating to me that that my current rent was going to increase. During this time they repeatedly called me about it on the verge of harassment. They did not explain to me what the contract that I signed was about, they just told me that it would prevent me from having increased charges on my rent. After this I tried to reach out to ask about terminating my contract for two years from now. The person who answered the called could not answer any of my questions and knew absolutely nothing. I asked for the manager/owner and was told that they would call me back the same day. Never received a call. I tried to give them my contact information again and never heard back. During this time of me reaching out they continue to not respond back to me over email, and when I call the office they send my number to voicemail unless I call using *67. I am unhappy with my current situation and I highly suggest people to not live here.

I made the unfortunate decision of signing a lease here. Over the past two years, we have had so many issues with the management and their disorganization. Several of our appliances don’t work properly and when they do fix them, they leave a disgusting mess behind. The final straw was today when they cut the internet for the entire complex DURING EXAM WEEK. Majority of the individuals who live here are students and they want us to go and get the modem and set it up by ourselves during the worst week of the semester. Absolutely disappointed and I highly suggest you steer away from living here. -Disgruntled Grad Student

I am highly impressed with the management team! Shane Sova does a wonderful job of keeping things positive and organized. Their team has very high standards for their buildings and they do not cut corners. It's always a pleasure to work with a well-ran company.

I have been living at Oakwood since August 2022. Everything was fine here, until the end of April when I came home in the morning to find my roommate and I’s personal space and property trashed and destroyed. $5,000 worth of damage was done to my property and from that day to now (May 6,2023), I have not gotten an email or phone call back from anyone at the office or anything. Both my roommate and I are upset and don't feel safe there anymore.

Terrible Management/Organization They did reach out to get feedback for themselves to “better themselves” so I guess there’s that. Be prepared to have to go out of your way to advocate for yourself though, instead of them just fixing the issue.
