A gorgeous little 1-block park in the middle of Cuenca's historic city center. Abundant trees, walkways, and seating. Plenty of shops and sights and restaurants nearby.

Excellent place to walk around and enjoy the sounds and sights of El Centro Cuenta Ecuador. Great food and vistas can be had from the Park and the Catolica Cathedral. Family friendly atmosphere with plenty of space to explore or sit and enjoy the ambience of the Park. Definitely recommend as a necessary place to visit when in Cuenca Ecuador.

Gorgeous park with lots of plants, trees and benches to relax, people watch and enjoy the variety of beautiful buildings on all sides. It's kept immaculately clean at all times and feels very safe at night, like most of Cuenca, I'm very happy to say. There is a selection of good places for food and drinks along the sides when you need vittles.

It’s Cuenca’s historical central square🇪🇨🇪🇨🇪🇨 and a UNESCO-designated world heritage site. — Originally known as Plaza Republica, it was renamed in the 1930’s to honor Abdon Calderon, a local 18-year old who fought at the war of independence of Ecuador. — At center of the square is a memorial statue of a wounded young man holding on the flag of Independence of Ecuador. — The square is bound by two colonial cathedrals on opposite sites, along with similar colonial buildings that now house businesses. — On one corner is the Azuay Government building, on another is the Azuay Courthouse. It’s a very well maintained square: tiled walkways, old trees providing canopy on a hot day, enclosed flower plots, polished benches. A very pleasant place to sit😎😎😎😎😎.

A beautiful park in one of the main plazas of the city, it's very nice to sit in, very clean, and feels very safe even at night, occasionally there are musicians and artists playing or making some art. In general just a great place to rest yourself while roaming the city.

It's in the center of town, well visited by tourists and locals. It is very clean with historical buildings housing contemporary restaurants, and it faces one of the largest cathedrals in Latin America, the cathedral of the immaculate conception. Cuenca is beautiful!

An amazingly beautiful park where locals sit and enjoy the peaceful park in the middle of the old section of town. Definitely worth a visit. Especially because there are so money historical buildings surrounding the park. A perfect place to sit after visiting the area.

I absolutely love this location for multiple reasons starting with it's proximity to the Cathedral which provides a fantastic view. The park is clean, safe, and allows individuals to access several restaurants, bars, and stores nearby. Enjoying an ice cream is a perfect way to unwind.

This main square is considered the heart of Cuenca's historical town center and is the perfect place to start exploring Cuenca. Named after one of Ecuador's youngest heroes in their battle for independence, it includes a memorial, gardens, gazebo, and plenty of park benches to sit and people watch. Check out the new and old cathedrals and lots of nearby restaurants. For more recommendations on what to do in and around Cuenca, find our blog posts by searching: "Intentional Travelers Cuenca"

One of the most beautiful places in Cuenca lot of historical value the cathedral is incredible I think it's well over 300 or 200 years old I forget a lot of nice shops and places to eat and get snacks and just sitting and enjoy the historic value you would think you were in Europe

Always love here, watching people go by, and enjoying and feeding the birds. Love to watch them diving down from everywhere, even when you see one or two when you throw the popcorn, suddenly the area is full until you stop feeding the. Beautiful park, very well kept.

  • 5/5 Burrito S. 1 year ago on Google
Gorgeous park! I love the palms, the bushes in bloom, the local photographer with his dog! As any central park, beware of your surroundings, people are friendly with good intentions but some are out there looking to take someone else''s stuff. Also "Prince Charming" might be out there, some men apparently looking for sugar babies.

A wonderful formal City Park. The Statue. Trees. Benches. And a great place to connect with people. Among many things, plus ice-cream shops right across the street?

  • 4/5 Hussein D. 1 year ago on Google
Plenty of places to eat and drink around, plus some other sites, eg the cathedral. Park itself has plenty of seating, is clean, and had a band playing music with crowds dancing. Also might find some promotional events (free coffee!)

One of many parks in Cuenca, but possibly the most relaxing. Surrounded by the bustle of stores, offices and restaurants, Calderone offers a chance to relax and enjoy the ambience and architecture of one of Latin America's most beautiful cities. The (New) Cathedral dominates one end, while the Old Cathedral, anchors the opposite end of the park. Fountains, a gazebo and the occasional vendor, add interest to a walk through.

This is an excellent place to visit and an excellent place to rest after strolling the area around the park. There are many restaurants, coffee shops, local craft tiendas in the area around the park and it is a short walk to the flower market (Parque De Las Flores) near Plaza de San Francisco. Also, the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with its beautiful blue domes is just across the street.
