First
the
good:
This
place
was
beautiful.
The
garden
was
lined
with
snake
plants,
coffee
trees,
lime
trees,
scalesia.
A
volcanic
rock
walkway
wound
through
the
garden.
There
were
giant
tortoises
throughout.
It
was
rather
idyllic.
The
rooms
were
well
kept,
clean,
and
comfortable.
There
were
tortoises
munching
on
grass
outside
our
patio
door!
The
food
was
quite
good,
including
a
fish
soup
(cod)
that
was
fantastic.
Now
the
not
so
good:
My
wife
and
I
felt
kinda
on
edge,
like
we
were
always
doing
something
wrong
here.
When
we
left
we
were
both
relieved,
which
is
odd
(we
expected
to
be
basking
in
the
glory
of
the
place).
It's
also
expensive.
If
we
kept
to
a
cloistered
stay,
we
would
have
never
realized
the
premium
we
were
paying.
We
paid
$190
per
night
here,
and
$30
per
night
in
town.
We
would
have
understood
this
premium
in
certain
cases,
but
for
Semilla
Verde,
it
felt
too
high.
The
bill
also
had
a
10%
service
charge
on
the
room.
In
six
months
of
traveling,
including
several
other
premium
stays,
this
is
the
only
place
we
experienced
a
compulsory
tip
on
the
room.
A
10%
tip
on
dinners,
sure
(they
do
that
here,
too).
But
compulsory
10%
tip
on
a
room
charge?
The
expensive
price
of
the
room
should
cover
the
staff.
We
had
a
unique
experience
here.
I
will
never
forget
a
giant
tortoise
coming
over
to
our
patio
for
a
visit.
We
were
also
happy
to
move
on.
