Absolutely loved the museum. Full of history, science, and authentic Ecuadorian indigenous artifacts. The tour was very informative. A small coffee shop is in the middle if in need of refreshments.

Truly interesting museum, they have guinea pigs, a llama, explanations about native populations and the equator line with all sorts of tests Except... 1. That's not the real equator line (which is actually just outside the museum parking lot, on the road) 2. The Coriolis effect and the egg test are (unfortunately) fake 3. The guides make you think the above-stated are true, deceiving you into thinking it's the real thing 4. The shop just outside with the women weaving (see pic) sell you products saying they are handmade and made out of natural fabrics, but they are not (I asked a textile expert) PS: don't get me wrong, I did have fun and it was a nice experience, but more transparency would go a long way and I consider it very important.

This is the best attraction if you are visiting the equator in Ecuador. You not only get a guide to learn about the history and culture, but there are interactive experiments along the way. For only a $5 entrance fee this is a great way to not only learn but also experience the unique aspects of being in this part of the world.

Very fun and informative place to tour! The water drain experiment, egg balancing, self-balancing in both hemispheres, accurate sundials, great indigenous education and information, and fun interaction with other tourists. Found this museum to be more engaging for the whole family than the middle of the world park. It does cost $5 to enter.

This is by far my favourite attraction in Quito, simple but much more fun and interactive than the Ciudad Mitad del Mundo. The outdoor museum compound is small but really well thought out. $5 gets you a ticket to the museum and a guided tour - which you can choose between a 30mins and 60mins tour. We enjoyed the interactive activities and taking photos of the exhibits. The Galápagos feature was a nice touch. Our guide Jhon had an amazing personality and was so much fun to be with. He explained everything clearly and is very knowledgeable about geography, sciences and history. The Intiñan Equator Museum is a must visit for everyone coming to Quito!

This is an interactive museum of different parts of Ecuador, all in one place. There are guided tours in English or Spanish. If you are coming from abroad, make sure to bring your passport with you, they will stamp it with a latitude 0 logo for you. Don’t forget to try out the creamiest ice creams there “Coqueiros”

Our entire family (2 adults, teen and tween) enjoyed the Equator Museum. The exhibits were interactive and fun. And, we saw much more than just Equator related exhibits. The museum addressed the 4 key areas of Ecuador. We tried raw cacao fruit in the Chocolate House, saw how natives lived in the Amazon (including the history of the shrunken head) and even got to try our luck balancing ourselves and an egg on the actual Equator! It was such fun and very educational. An experience we won't forget. Bring small bills for souvenirs such as delicious chocolate and handmade crafts/clothing (USD $3-50). Also, the sun is intense at the Equator. Dress appropriately, wear a hat and lots of sunscreen.

To be honest I only visited this since I had a free afternoon but it ended up being my favourite part in Quito! The tour starts by teaching you about Ecuadorian culture and indigenous communities around the equator. After this, you learn about the equator and special facts and tricks around it, some of which ended up blowing my mind! The tour goes for about an hour and it is very interactive. I would highly recommend checking this one out. Note: The monument is only good for the photo - you cannot see the cool tricks or anything other than take a special photo. It is much better to just save your $5 for the Intiñan Museum!

Fun place, but the science demos were silly. Your balance doesn't change one meter north of the equator. Nor does the Coriolis effect apply to water in a small sink. It's a bit of trickery.

The museum offers visitors a unique opportunity to learn about the history and culture of the indigenous peoples of Ecuador, as well as the science behind the Equator line. I found the exhibits to be engaging and informative, with plenty of interactive displays and hands-on activities. One of the highlights of my visit was standing on the Equator line itself. It was a surreal experience to be standing in two hemispheres at the same time and to see the various scientific demonstrations that proved we were indeed at the Equator. The staff at the museum were friendly and knowledgeable, and were happy to answer any questions I had. They provided a guided tour of the museum, which added to the overall experience. In addition to the exhibits, the museum also has a beautiful outdoor garden area with various sculptures and traditional dwellings that showcase the culture and history of the indigenous peoples of Ecuador. Overall, my experience at the Intiñan Site Museum was fantastic. It was a great way to learn about the science and culture behind the Equator line, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Quito. Whether you're a history buff, a science enthusiast, or just looking for a unique experience, this museum is definitely worth a visit.

Whilst probably fun for kids, which is why I don't give it one star, this is more of a tourist trap than a museum. I heard some incorrect information on indigenous peoples from the tour guide (relating to shrunken heads being for 'wisdom' and not the avenging soul), they have an indigenous person there more to take photos of than actually to tell about their culture or home, and there was multiple spots that hold mis-information to the sciences relating to balancing on the equator line. I want to emphasize that this is a fun type of thing, but not an extensively informative one, so its still great for kids I think

It's a little hard to find but it's the real Equator. Just down the road from the large tourist equator, you will find this. It is set like an old village, with a guide I highly recommend using their tour included in your entrance fee. They show and explain the shrunken heads. Show you scientific proof about the equator including the Coriolis effect and balancing on the equator line. It's great fun. It's only $5. There is a little gift shop where the lady sells you beautiful hand crafts while the gent makes items in front of you. Great place to spend an hour.

Top place to see in Quito. Tour guides are excellent. Don't be afraid to bring your kids. Watch the water spin in opposite directions down the drain depending if its north or south of the equator, learn about the Amazon and its people.

We loved how interactive this museum was. We enjoyed the guide's explanations and sense of humor. The museum covers other topics outside of just the equator line. The pace of the tour was perfect and the souvenir stand had great handmade items. Much better than just visiting the monument. If you plan on visiting, bring your passport and they will stamp it for you.

The staff were friendly and the museum had some interesting artifacts. But a significant part of the tour consisted of some horrifically bad science experiments. For example, the guide asks you to step on the 'equator' line while he pushes your arm down. Then you step off the equator line and he pushes your arm again. He pushes with much more force when you're on the line, and he tries to convince you that the equator is making you weaker. Seriously?? Tons of other misinformation in the tour too. You'll leave about 10 IQ points lower than when you arrived.

Tourist trap!! My wife and I were forced to pay to get in, and after we explained we only wanted to see the middle of the world sign, we were told no and that we had to go on a 60 minute tour full of gimmicks. The sign stated “we offer tours” not “tour required” they told us no refunds and laughed at us. After a heated argument, the tour guide told us we could just walk around but not participate in the “experiments”. Would have been nice if he didn’t continue following us around and staring at us while we took the one photo we wanted. Highly don’t recommend.

The guide is included in the tickets that you pay. It’s really nice because the guide explains with hard arguments of tho work the middle of the world. You make a lot of experiments and it’s a funny way to learn about it. They also give you a certificate that you been there.

I loved this museum. It costs $5 to get in. You get a guide. It is not a big place, there is a hut showing the original way the people lived. Beautifully crafted animals out of wood. The highlight is the shrunken heads. You also get to do experiments on the ecuator line, which I found real fun to do.

Excellent. Great tour! Worth it. I found it to be more interesting than the other museum. Yes, they have a few touristy tricks, but isn’t that why we travel? I truly enjoyed the experience. Highly recommend!

This place was amazing. The guides were extremely informative and it blew me away to see the difference in physics five feet can make when on the true equator and just off it. The museum did an amazing job at not only explaining the importance of the true equator line but also the history of the indigenous people of the region

We got a great guide, Ronaldo, for our visit. He was very knowledgeable and had a good sense of humor. The museum is very informative and there is much more to it than just the Equator artifacts. Great guide! Be prepared to learn. Ask questions and challenge yourself to answer questions. There are remarkable statues, lovely plantings and I saw several hummingbirds. Take your time and play with the experiments that prove this is the 0° line. Well worth the price of admission!

This is the real equator, just a short walk from City at the Middle of the world. The City at Middle of the world was where they believed the equator was prior to GPS, impressive that they were so close, but it’s not accurate. You will find Museo de Sitio Intiñan just a short 5 minute walk up from the City at Middle of the world on the left side. The guides are available in English and Spanish. You will learn a lot about the equator, Amazon and tribes. Was $4.00 well spent. You will get to participate in many experiments and the photo opportunities are better. There are fewer tourists as many who visit the City at Middle of the world don’t realize it’s not the real equator.

It was an amazing journey to Quito, Ecuador. My curious to visit one of the ancient museum, Intinan Solar Museum to captive the history of civilization, 00;00 latitude (equator), folklore, Physics..a wonderful museum. We can find "the balance egg", put the egg on a nail head and attempt to walk along a straight line without losing the equilibrium, Indigenous Hut to show the rural life of the ancestors etc. How the Inca's determine the 00:00 latitude or center of the earth is very interesting.

The museum was interesting and included a required tour guide for $4 that spoke great English. Fun to stand on the equator even though the tricks they show with water draining in different directions and egg balancing are deceptive. But it's all for fun, not science, right? I originally thought the center of the world had something to do with the longitude and latitude both being zero, but it is just Equator's way to puff a bit. Don't visit the memorial for $5, you'll get the same benefit staying outside the fence and taking photos of you and it.

Our guide had a great love of his country Ecuador and the knowledge he was sharing. The demonstrations of how being on the equator affects the flow of water, balance, gravity, and other natural phenomena were fascinating. Plus they have an adorable llama named Inti who loves carrots and getting his backed scratched. I highly recommend a visit if you are in Quito and it can be done in 30-60 minutes at a low cost.

Don't confuse this much smaller place with a larger place which is $10 to get in versus $4. This is a very personal tour, takes about an hour, and they share the history as well as the science behind the equator. Definitely worthwhile visit..

There are some opinions on the web that the equator line in this museum is fake (and my own GPS was showing that it’s slightly off). Some people argue that equator experiments are simple tricks - the Coriolis force is not strong enough… regardless of all of that the museum is an excellent place to visit. Our guide was superb and my kids were super engaged all the time. We had fun and learned something new, even if some of it is made up for demonstration purposes ;)

Super kitschy and boring. It’s worth it to go only because it’s the real equator. After I purchased the ticket I asked to keep the stub and they said that wasn’t possible. Later as I was doing a tour someone approached me and accused me of entering without paying. Without a stub I couldn’t really prove that I paid. It was pretty embarrassing. They should really think about giving people proof of payment so they’re not running around accusing people of not paying. Super odd.

Best museum so far in Quito. It is exactly on the equator line (it was measured by GPS). The price was 5$pp which is totally worth it because it comes with a tour guide. Our guide was Ronaldo who was really nice, had a huge knowledge about the past and spoke English very well. Absolutely recommended!

0 (zero) latitude. This is a great family place to learn native history and straggling both hemispheres. There are so basic hands-on experiments, and try your hand at balancing an egg on a nail head. Although it is a myth, it is said it is the only place in the world an egg can be balanced in this manner. I apparently have a steady hand :)

You can't not visit the equator when in Quito, right? This was a fun guided tour that provides an overview of Ecuador as well as some cheesy "experiments" at the equator line. I wouldn't say it's a must-do, but if you have time, definitely worth a stop.

Great place to visit the equator while in Quito. They have some science experiments and several places to take pictures while straddling the equator. They also have local chocolate which is very tasty. Worth a stop!

Way better than the Middle of the World monument. Here the tour is included (same price $5 per person) and you learn so much about the culture and have fun. It's for all ages and totally worth it.

Salome was an excellent guide who did not rush us even though we got there after closing. It was interesting, learned a few things and had fun
