Survanavathi Dam is Constructed for the Suvarnathi River, which is sub river of Kaveri. The Dam is located in NH 209 near Punajanur Village at 14 Km from Chamarajanagar. It's the main source of water for villages for Chamarajanagar. It fills only during monsoon and dries during Summer.

Very big and beautiful dam . Very hot place so a hat/ umbrella would be best for walk . There were lots of birds when I visited (ibis, egret , grey herons etc ) . Was good visit.

One of the coolest place to visit in this locality. Its one of the dam next to Chikkahole dam at this area. Less crowded and you can take a walk on the bunds of the dam. Be careful about honey bee 🐝 near the gates.

It was good to see so much of water after many years. This place can be improved by providing children's park flower gardens proper lighting, etc. There aren't many places around this area for people to have a leisure trip with their family on holiday. Karnataka govt. could improve the facilities.

Suvarnavathy Dam is a hidden gem! Nestled amidst lush greenery, this dam offers a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. The view of the reservoir against the backdrop of rolling hills is simply breathtaking. It's a perfect spot for a peaceful picnic with family or a romantic getaway. The dam's well-maintained pathways make it ideal for a leisurely walk or a jog. The clean and serene surroundings add to the overall charm. Birdwatchers will delight in the variety of avian species that can be spotted here. I highly recommend Suvarnavathy Dam to nature lovers and those seeking a break from the daily grind. It's a place where you can connect with nature and find some much-needed tranquility.
