Opposite
the
Mahatma
Gandhi
statue
on
Rock
Beach,
you
will
find
the
historic
Lighthouse
in
Pondicherry.
This
lighthouse
was
constructed
by
the
French
rulers
during
the
19th
century
and
is
currently
undergoing
extensive
renovation.
Notably,
this
lighthouse
has
a
rich
history
of
illumination.
Initially,
it
was
lit
by
oil
lamps,
and
later,
it
was
upgraded
to
electrical
lamps.
Access
to
the
interior
is
restricted
to
the
public
during
this
restoration
phase.
However,
even
from
the
outside,
the
evening
view
of
this
remarkable
structure
is
worth
admiring.
It
adds
to
the
charm
of
the
Rock
Beach
area,
making
it
a
must-see
destination
during
your
visit
to
Pondicherry.
