Went with the Young Black Professionals of WNY Meetup group for happy hour and despite our large group, we all have excellent service from the staff. Enjoyed the overall vibe and aesthetic of this being a bar in the theater district which was cool. I got the Wednesday special which was $20 for the pizza of the week, beer, and a house shot. Overall a really great value and the pizza was really yummy. I also tried two different cocktails to get a sense of their crafting. One was simple and just bourbon with apple cider which you can get hot or cold, and the Matinee mule which the bartender indicated was their most popular cocktail. Both were well made and tasted great. Overall, this was a really great spot and definitely look forward to going again in the future!

This place is exactly what I've been looking for in downtown Buffalo. A wide selection of beers that are hand selected by Rex and Kevin who are very knowledgeable on their beers. I asked for an obscure beer that they didn't have and not only did they know the flavor profile but they suggested a beer that I actually enjoyed more. Very highly recommended ✌️

Went there for drinks. We were warmly greeted and waited on promptly with no pressure to decide quickly. The atmosphere was comfortable and homey. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Matinee!

What a great place, went to see the Ujima production of 12 Mo angry men and was invited by the cast to come to this cool place. Had the old fashioned & another bourbon/lime cocktail. Liked them both so much that we had 3 each by the end of night. That’s only 3 drinks each, great to Uber around. Really liked the vibe and met some regulars including theatre personality Anthony Chase & Javier👍

Absolute gem of the theatre district. Nice intimate setting, terrific happy hour sales on Wednesday night, owners are kind and accessible. Very well stocked female facilities, (or so I'm told), and a very welcoming environment.

Absolutely amazing. Must check out "Whiskey Wednesdays". Great welcoming vibe. Really cool decor. Their passion comes through amazing cocktails and food. Their pizzas are top notch. Highly recommend. Will definitely be back.

The place is a little gem with a relaxed ambiance and cool patrons. They have a great canned beer selection & some really good stuff on the cellar menu (which you should ask for).. The owners Rex and Kev are awesome and are very knowledgeable with beer. 5 stars all day long

Went here for the first time the other night to celebrate a friends birthday. We absolutely loved it. Such a cool vibe, great music, local art, and an amazing extensive beer list! The staff were friendly too! Oh, and great free popcorn 😍 Definitely will be back again soon.

As a theater industry-centric drink spot, Matinee is where you'll find the who's who of Buffalo Arts and Entertainment. Their beer/wine-only drink offerings may leave cocktail lovers wanting, but the bar staff all have an excellent knowledge of the extensive beer list at their disposal, and can make a recommendation to suit any taste.

Great vibe, great beer selection. I hope to spend more time there to learn what ever other treats they have available.
