Don't let the 4 star overall rating fool you--this gym has seen better days. I joined LA Fitness this past summer. Gym equipment is very dirty, no clips for bench presses, treadmill belts are all loose and are a hazard for the person using it. I honestly can't believe people pay $35 per month to come here--I signed up simply because my insurance covers gym membership fees. Locker rooms are dirty, lockers are completely destroyed on the inside. The only good thing about this gym is there are a lot of machines. There is a far superior gym just 2 minutes away in Catalyst Fitness. Catalyst doesn't have as much equipment and their warm water heater doesn't always work(only an issue if you shower lol), but I would still classify that gym as being much better. Management at LA Fitness can do better, and should do better.

La fitness is a Scam. No one is available for help. If you want to cancel your membership you have to do it in person but no one knows how to cancel memberships except for one person who is never here. I have been to this location 3 times to cancel my membership and they keep telling me I have to wait or come back another time. I knew I should have never given this gym another try. Their hours are not the best compared to other gyms. If you have to change the payment method you have 15 people calling you trying to collect but if you need someone to help answer a question there are crickets. No one is available to help at desks. The only one who can help is on the phone for a personal issue.

I love this gym. I go to cycle, swim laps, soak in the hot tub and finish with the sauna. But FYI... There are 3 swimming lanes. Apparently other members don't necessarily like sharing lanes. And thought of me as rude for joining a lane without asking. I won't make that mistake again. However there are no posted rules that you must consult other members before swimming along side them. But I do so going forward. I apologized but I felt uncomfortable staying in the lane with her. P.S. more seniors swimming than young adults so, dress appropriately. Otherwise you may get dirty looks. I may wear a once piece next time. 😓

This location is NOT SAFE they have stolen 3 vehicles here including my own with in a month. There have been threats made and the management is not doing anything about it. They are letting everyone walk in as if they’re going in the bathroom. The guests who comes in are not being signed in or identified. I’m highly disappointed with LA fitness management team something must be done and this is the time to take actions. Now I’m thinking of canceling my gym membership with them. They don’t care about their customers/members all they care about is your dollar. What a shame!

This company makes it impossible to cancel your membership. Do not use them. I have never had a monthly membership anywhere else that is not easy to cancel. I filed a dispute. Credit card company confirmed as well that they have never seen a company that has no option to block payment. I just want yo cancel something that is no longer veing used!!!!! Crooks

Absolutely the worst gym! Dirty, unclean. If you come into the gym at 5 am the bathroom is the worst I have seen at a gym. Toilets dirty, no paper towels, no soap, no hand sanitizer. Almost every cardio machine is broke. Front doors been broke for the last 3 months!

Just got a membership here and so far enjoying it! They have a sauna, pool, jacuzzi, and a daycare room. Lots of exercise equipment. Everything is clean. Wish membership was a little cheaper but it does include a lot of amenities so overall I'm satisfied. Plus I can bring 2 free guests with me every visit so that's another plus.

Great place to workout before starting your work schedule in the early mornings. LA Fitness opens @ 5am- 10pm week days. I start work 8am. So It's a great place for ppl. that work around that time. I go in LA Fitness at 5am & content my workout at 7am. They have showers, and lockers rooms so you can put your belongings in and change clothes after a nice hot shower, sunny room, siming pool & a whole lot more to offer. I recommend individuals to come check this workout facility for themselves. to get their on personal experiences of what it's like there. 🙂👍

The place is hot as hell, the air flow is terrible. It’s barely even on. I’ve been to other gyms whose air is way better than this

The manager Jeremiah helped my family get a membership plan. He was so kind and went through everything with us including what we should expect to pay, monthly dues, etc. The manager Carla was so sweet and helpful. Overall, great experience. We weren’t rushed in and out. They ensured we saw the entire club, explained the machines, lockers, and all that the club has to offer!

    A. The Club: would it kill their employees to look up from their cell phones to at least nod when you come & go? Yesterday the life guard waved when I entered, shocked, I waved back, "No" he said, "you have 10 minutes until my break". Break from what? sitting and looking at your phone for 2 hours? Beside the whirlpool sat the same discarded band-aide from TWO DAYS AGO - I know something he could do on his break. Since I returned 2 weeks ago, someone had broken all the towel hooks off the wall next to each shower leaving the remaining metal shards bolted to the wall, what's up with that? B. The Members: Although there are a # of trash receptacles throughout the men's locker room, there is litter EVERYWHERE. It's a club you have to pay to attend, there shouldn't be litter ANYWHERE. Deal breaker was yesterday when these 2 characters came into the sauna & one of them spit on the floor before he sat down. HE SPIT ON THE FLOOR. Who, sorry, what does that? --this club could be a great experience -- unfortunately, it's not.

After several months, the front entrance is still hazardous. Strong body odors, stained carpets, dusty and cracked machines. Some of the TVs don’t work at all. Most of the cycles do not have RFID, QR codes or Bluetooth to track workouts. The location is very accessible from Hertel or Elmwood. Parking lot is inadequately lit at night. Grounds are litter free. There is a small bike rack to the right of the entrance. Pool, sauna, lockers, and showers are clean and supplied. Wish they had extended hours or 24 hour key fob service. This facility closes early Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays which is insipid. Staff have always made eye contact and are friendly. Manager is very helpful and accommodating.

At first glance, everything seems legit, until you reach the lockerroom. This place really needs a make over. The lockerroom is old looking and has chipped paint inside the lockers. No soap in the dispensaries. If they care about cleanliness, lets start with the basics. I'm not sure how people wash their hands after using the bathroom. The machine seems a bit worn out. Floors are dirty. Does anyone sweep or mop this place.

speaking just for myself of course, i have been mostly disappointed with this location. (i exercise by myself but most people i interact with do seem to enjoy their time.) checking in is digital now so key tags are gone. as of this writing - in winter 21/22, the water filter and attached fountain has been dysfunctional for about two months. there are often hand sanitizer and paper towel dispensers that are empty. the male locker room and sauna often has lots of debris on the floor and benches. members seem to rarely rerack weights so the less strong have trouble getting machines set up for ourselves, and equipment that is moved to other areas is likely left there instead of being returned. most elliptical machines are missing cupholders. i don t think the turf area gets vacuumed. the basketball court always seems to be (over)crowded and many do not wear masks. i mentioned coming here on my own to work out but lots of folks like to socialize, even taking work calls and creating videos in the midst of the activity. personally, i just wish more members would have respect for the less capable and those of us who are not as strong or sociable. i only interact with workers by the doors; it d be nice as a paying attendee to see employees actively cleaning + disinfecting, organizing, helping. this is a popular gym that just may not be the best place for a quiet person who is on a tighter budget and who is not as hot or ripped as others in their age group. hope you find the place that best fits you :)

Very friendly staff, helpful when issues arise. The gym is relatively clean. The pool is a nice size and the spa area is nice. The pool does look like it needs to be cleaned, but it may be water stains on the pool floor, I highly recommend wearing swim shoes.

Unfortunately after a few years I had to leave and go somewhere else. The pros-decent equipment when it wasn’t broken, sauna, hot tub and pool (again when it isn’t broken) & basketball court. Friendly managers, front desk etc. Now for the negative- There is a major cleanliness issue. I say that as a person who has worked out in truly awful conditions. I used to work out at the UB south campus gym which didn’t have air conditioning and had rats. I have run outside in subzero temperatures or low oxygen climates. I would say it is worse here compared to any conditions I’ve ever exercised in. Additionally, over time I became uncomfortable here. You don’t see too many people here training for actual sports. There are a lot of people who come here to stand around, talk and stare at others. As someone who has run dozens of road races, cycled 100+ mile distances and played multiple sports and is now slowly getting back to my old level of fitness after an illness this gym no longer aligns with my goals. I highly recommend looking into other options. I was able to find a much nicer gym for only 10 dollars more a month. Even planet fitness is cleaner and better quality than this location. Planet fitness was also good for me when I was traveling a lot as you have access to gyms everywhere. I highly recommend other la fitness locations. This one just needs a major rehabilitation. I got tired of being afraid of catching a disease here and strange behavior from some guests so it’s time to go lol

A lot of people are on here complaining about the cleanliness of the facility. You must be willing to pick up after yourself. There are certain aspects of cleaning that should not be left behind for the staff to do. Some of the members at this location are great and others are just unwilling to cooperate. It’s not difficult to understand that other people will use something after you since this is a shared space. Try to leave things the way you found them or better and I’m sure others will follow. As for the gym itself it’s solid, it has it all. Pool, sauna, basketball, weights, ropes etc. Avoid peak times if you can.

I am Esporta gym Client, I was in gym on Nov-15-2023 approximately at 7:10 pm with my two teens. One teen was 14 years old & other teen was 16 years old. When we got into pool then one of employee “Rakib Alam” tried to kicked out from the pool because he told me 14 years old teen is not allowed in pool even though he was 5 feet 3 inches tall which was perfectly fine other days in Esporta Gym, but unfortunately, today why Esporta employees: Rakib Alam & Justin ( job ID # 10091401) both together so mean to my family, I don’t know? At this situation, I felt insulting & racism to us as well. So, at this point, I wish to cancel my membership due to unprofessional employees attitude to clients.

I belonged to this gym in 2017, I’ve been going here for a few months now, and there has been a marked decline in the gym’s quality over the past five years. The front desk staff is great—just really friendly and genuinely helpful people. But now for the negatives. The otherwise wide range of equipment is often broken, and there never seem to be enough clips or handles for all the cable machines. Weights are regularly strewn all over the gym floor, even though management recently put up signs asking members to clean up after themselves. In the afternoons especially, groups of teenagers occupy multiple machines at once; I wasn’t even able to finish my workout today because of this. And typical of most LA Fitness/Esporta locations, the music is loud enough that members often have to shout to talk to one another. All in all, there needs to be better maintenance of the premises and accountability of members’ conduct.

probably the most unorganized, dirty gym i’ve ever gone to, unfortunately it’s the closest to my work fortunately i only have to come to this location 1 time a week. i feel disgusting as soon as i walk in. almost feels like there’s 0 janitors that work here compared to my home location.weights never re-racked/laying around the whole gym, locker room and sauna smells terrible 90% i come compared to my home location. i can’t even spend over a hour here 🤢

The staff and members are very polite. Fun to see the consistency between the CA and the NY locations.

came into the gym, and I was met with great hospitality by GM Silas Garrison, and Jeremiah Westbrook. Both were excellent and very accommodating! Great gym to get a pump at.

This place used to be good but recently I don’t know what’s happening. The last four times I’ve come, a weird tweaker in rainbow crocs has been running around the gym and yelling and no one does anything about it. They also have the front desk covered with a nationalist newspaper from Texas that is full of homophobia, anti semitism, and more. It’s weird that they are choosing to promote and distribute literature that is so exclusionary. It makes me feel very uncomfortable in the space because I feel like the people who work here agree with the radical and bigoted ideas in the newspaper they are choosing to promote in the gym.

I’ve been coming to this location with my wife for a couple of years and have witnessed it steadily decline since. What’s prompting me to share this review is the sauna being out of commission for almost a month. To LA’s defense, they’ve shared that a member poured water onto the stones which damaged electrical components, but they’ve provided no updates since then. Aside from the sauna, basic equipment maintenance is mostly ignored, many of the machines having received very little to no attention over the last couple years. Sticky cables, shaky machines, and outright busted equipment makes you wonder where member dues are going. On a positive note, the staff and most members are incredibly kind which makes it fun to come to this gym but at this point, my wife and I are in search of another gym that is better with upkeep and equipment selection. Happy to edit this over time as I see conditions improve / worsen.

Well maintained LA Fitness with a ton of equipment, facilities are kept pretty clean and they have a little something for everyone. I did notice some of the equipment showing signs of wear and tear but anymore that is usually what I see at this brand. It seems LA Fitness will keep their equipment far past it’s useful life.

  • 3/5 R L. 10 months ago on Google
Expansive facilities. Lots of workout options. Poor climate control, which can make workouts more uncomfortable than they should be indoors. The mens’ locker room seems to be cleaned on and off by women, with the showers closed at random times. Don’t plan on working out there if you’re planning on a shower and going back to work. I wish they would just post regular hours when the mens’ locker room is closed so that we could plan accordingly.

Pretty big, very busy, I like having a lot of people in the gym with me as I'm a social person. Lots of machines, 3 lane pool, huge cycling room and basketball court. The amenities are worth the membership fee alone

Previously I complained about late opening on weekends. This is no longer an issue, the current crew has the doors open on time consistently. One down side of this location is some of the patrons are rough on the equipment. When I use other LA locations, the equipment is in better condition.

  • 2/5 Jeff K. 11 months ago on Google
Be advised that, if you want to change or cancel your membership, LA Fitness purposefully makes it difficult to cancel. The agreement provides an email to address to cancel membership. However, when you reach out to the email, they do not respond. Furthermore, when they finally accept that you will cancel, they give you a form to fill out that takes 1+ month to process and furthermore require you to go to the gym in person in order to cancel, for "privacy" reasons. You will be frustrated.

Staff may or may not greet you, depending on how important their phone is to them. Place is very clean, well-lit, spacious, and the equipment is in excellent condition. The location is off Elmwood Avenue and is set back from the main road. The pool is right up front at the entrance. A spin class is available, locker rooms, and a couple of vending machines. There are a lot of amenities at this location, which is worth the membership initiation fee and monthly rate.

This gym close their door at 9:30 when they close at 10 o'clock I went in to use the sauna after work and all doors are lock. That is unacceptable especially when it's $40 a month and half of their machine doest work. I am livid!!! If you're looking for a gym membership consider your options elsewhere.
