0 stars. If you value your life, do not come here because you will probably die in the waiting room. 7 hours waiting and was never seen my a doctor. No one offered anything for pain management during the whole 7 hours. There were no wheelchairs available. This is by far the worst ER hospital I’ve ever set foot in. If you have a medical emergency, do not come to this place, please!. A gentleman walked in saying he could not breath and had chest pain and the staff literally said, “we can’t do much for you without a doctor’s order, so try to relax”. A guy came in bleeding profusely from his leg, and the nurse just wrap his leg as he was standing and they left the mess of blood on the floor for a while and i think the guy even gave up and left. What kind of ER is this? Horrible service, horrible bedside manners. A death trap for anyone who’s might be dying and needs care. Not to mention we wetness a person being put on the helicopter and he helicopter wouldn’t even turn on! They were trying to fix it for like 1 hours, brought the patient down and left back inside. Call an ambulance or go somewhere else. Shameful shameful place!

I didn't want to go to this hospital based on the reviews, but I was in so much pain I couldn't make it to the other hospital 5 minutes up the road. Please do yourself a favor and DON'T GO HERE. Everything was slow, there was no sense of urgency about anything, the nurses just act like every other day in emergency room, laughing and carrying on, no real care and concern. No one went the extra mile to see what was wrong, because test came back normal, they ignored the real pain I'm still feeling as I write this. There were a few great people, and thanks to them, but the majority were terrible. I felt very ignored and was sent home with pretty much nothing done for me, and a bill. Horrible, horrible horrible place.

This is THE WORST hospital I have EVER been to in my entire life. I wish I could give this a 0 star they don' t even deserve a 1 star. I arrived at 6pm and I was waiting until midnight in the waiting room. I wasn't even sent back. I would much rather go to Tampa General Hospital and that's saying something!!!! I ended up going to my primary care doctor the next morning and I was having an allergic reaction to penicillin and they told me if I didn' t show up when I did for a steroid shot and different antibiotics, my throat would have completely closed up and yet St. Joseph's doesn't view an allergic reaction as an emergency? What a terrible hospital.

If I could rate this a 0 zero, I would. My father is currently sitting in the waiting room suffering from a diverticulitis episode and he has been waiting for three hours! He went outside to speak to me on the phone for a second, and he literally started throwing up from pain. Unsurprisingly, there was no staff rushing to help him and he continues to suffer in pain in the waiting room. This is added 2 hours later after I originally posted the review and my father has decided to leave the emergency room after he had received no help and was never seen by a doctor! Also, I just learned from him that the nurses working in the emergency room were EATING CAKE while my dad was sitting in the ER, suffering in pain!!

If there were any other option for for NO STARS it would've definitely been given for the inconvenience of this hospital emergency room. I checked in on JULY 15 2022 at 12:50 p.m. I came in with the symptoms of lightheadedness and feeling VERY dizzy since 7:15 am i left my job early because the symptoms hadn't stop, so i came to St. Joseph's hospital hoping they would take care me am diabetic and I have hypertension.. i asked the Iady in triage for FLUIDS because I'm having Systems of DEHYDRATION, and i still havent been seen. And It is now 3:00 pm.. But I guess they only want to see you if you have the BIG COMPANY NAME insurance companies such as UNITED HEALTHCARE,CIGNA, or FLORIDA BLUE..Being that I have The HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY health insurance, I guess I'l don't meet the criteria to be seen.. I've been sitting in the ER For 2.5 hours which ridiculous. I'm very disappointed in the service.i asked the lady whats going on and why so many people who came in well AFTER i did and had gotten seen and and were discharged. Well before me.. they put me in the system as a "3" from one to five and "5" being the least and "1" being the worst. It is now 3:42 pm. The rep at check-in told me that my symptoms weren't SEVERE enough to be seen and all the guy name JEFF did was check my vitals. And walked away. I really feel as though that is ridiculous everybody who visits the emergency room should be treated as equal..(Im adding more to the review)to show how long I've been here. Now it's 4:15 pm and I'm still here in waiting area for the ER. It is now 4:35pm and I asked the lady at check-in how many more people are ahead of me she told me that " 2 people just checked in and they put those individuals BEFORE me so now I'm 3rd in line AFTER them. So I finally decided to leave because It was starting to dawn on me that I was NEVER going to be seen so I left at 4:40 p.m. This was by far the WORST experience at an ER. I don't feel as though I was treated fairly especially the fact that they continued to push me further back down the list. This is very UNEXCEPTABLE.

90% of the one star reviews come from people who have no concept of what an Emergency Room is for. Unfortunately the waiting room will take forever because its full of people with tummy aches and psychosomatic symptoms that aren't an issue. If people went to urgent care first I would bet this ER would be just fine.

Too slow. Oh my Goodness. They triage everyone that walks in the door only to have you sitting around looking at each other in pain. We got here a little after 12 AM and at 4 AM we are still sitting here. They do not care about the patients health. Healthcare has really became all about the money. What happen to good quality care? The only way I would ever come back here is if I am on my death bed.

My mom went here tonight because she has been in severe pain. The time we arrived was 6:50pm. She has been going through this for months and I was able to get her to go to the hospital and we sat there for 5 hours while she was in pain. Being told “your next” an hour goes by again and nothing. My mom was in too much pain to keep waiting I am having to bring her to another hospital. A girl got a room that did not look like she was in pain laughing with her friends and she came way after us. It was ridiculous. I was planning on having my baby here In December but after tonight most likely will not. If this is how they treat people I’m ok. **update** My mom found out at Brandon that she has severe liver disease. Your nurse told my mother that other patients were more important than her but she took a girl that was laughing with her friends and my mom is actually ill. Thank you for nothing.

Scam artists. These people Charged me 4500 to have me sit and wait in the room, talk to two people, and have them decide the only x-ray one of my issues from the car wreck and give me two advil. you missed my broken collarbone I’ve been walking around with for 11 days now. And you have the audacity to send me a bill for $4500 ? For what?? This is what’s wrong with hospitals in America. This is just disgusting. You better pray there isn’t an afterlife.

This place is beyond a disgrace to health care. The emergency room and it’s employees are unprofessional and are truly there for a paycheck. The lack of concern for the patients in the lobby is saddening. I am 8 months pregnant and told I was not a priority because the fetal heartbeat was fine. Regardless of the fact that I personally have internal issues. There was a man throwing up in the corner of the waiting room and the lady at the desk said she can’t do anything about it as she sat there instead of offering him a throw up bag. This is one of the worst experiences I have had by far, and I have been to multiple er rooms since the beginning of my high risk pregnancy. For anyone who values their loved ones my opinion is to not attempt this hospital. It’s a shame this is what healthcare in this facility consists of. Compassion is free and it’s disheartening that nobody there has any.

i never leave reviews…like ever but i feel this is very necessary. i originally went to the womens center for personal issues, ended up being sent over to the emergency department. the womans center was fantastic and so so nice…the emergency department however, insanely rude and so unsympathetic. took forever to talk with the nurse that walked me over from the women’s hospital because they were too busy talking about personal matters. then when they finally did decide to give us the time of day, and they found out why i was there they rolled their eyes and laughed. that being said, i walked out and will not ever be back. there’s clearly a reason they have poor reviews. maybe they should take some pointers from the womens center and work on how to treat patients or find a different career.

Save yourself somewhere else, go to tampa general hospital because st joseph hospital dont care about their patients at all not even your children! You can basically come dying of pain and have to wait over 2 hours to get treatment! Nobody cares about you and the nurses are mean and rude if you call them twice.

We have been waiting for 4 hours for my daughter to be seen. She has chest pain and shortness of breath. They are disorganized and kept saying the long wait was because of patients coming by ambulance. Horrible place. Do not recommend.

This is the worse I experienced in any hospital. Still sitting here still after 3 hours and xray. Finally took me to a room and I'm still sitting here waiting to talk to a physician they really need to update the services or just plan out close this hospital. And change management. I dould have went to another baycare and gotten A pluses care and but not this one. I give it a -f. I would have gotten results and talk to Dr's and probably on my way out the door. This is simply unheard-of. I here staff chattering in the hallway about what ever. Still no Physcian. I recommend highly don't come here.

This use to be a #1 hospital is really BAD now, if you are not with your family member they storage you like a bag. I ask "some lady in a green uniform" in the ER to give me a second as she brought an Orthopedic collar for my dad and said " I DONT HAVE A SECOND FOR YOU" in a very RUDE WAY so I respond in a RUDE WAY too and then ask for a wheelchair to get my dad out of that trash place. NEXT TIME we will AVOID this place FOR SURE.

If I could give zero stars I would my daughter was there about 10 hours yesterday. The staff were the most rudeist people they should not be working in a field that the people that comes threw your door are already going threw something instead of being so nasty you guys should have compassion and patience. The service I received yesterday was unreal from the security to the bald guy that take u to the back and even some of the nurses

Probably the best ER experience I’ve had, in any city I’ve lived in the past 50 years. The wait time was reasonable. The staff was extremely courteous, kind and professional. All of the systems went extremely smoothly. Finally, while we need MDs, the practitioners do hard, good, responsible work. Thank you for taking care of the gash in my leg.

No price adjustment for uninsured, cash paying patients. Got there at around 1:00pm, did not get a bed until 11:30pm. No updates, no checking on the patients, you are just a number they can bill their overpriced services to.

Every staff member I have interacted with here has been incredibly pleasant. I appreciate that labs and radiology can be seen in the portal in real time. The wait times are rough but that is to be expected at any ER.

Find more people that actually care about the patients. I visited tonight and amount of careless I felt was unreal. You never know what nobody is going thru so just being kind goes along way! I will never be returning.

Literally just got off the phone with a rude impatient man in imaging. I'm just trying to get info on how my son can get copies of his images from his ER visit last night. I am out of state. This man was huffing and puffing and annoyed with my questions. I asked for no personal information I only asked what is the process to get copies of his images. THE ABSOLUTE WORST uncaring inconsiderate man I have ever dealt with. I spoke to medical records prior and the lady was very caring and very helpful. Only because of her did I give 2 stars

I find is absolutely repulsive that ONLY 2 people are able to check on a loved one that’s been admitted to the ER. I (a 22 y/o male) was told after I had left and came back to bring my spouses younger sibling that one of us had to leave since there “can only be two people” who are there to be there for a loved one in a time of need. I was told by an older round African American male at the possession check point that I couldn’t even sit in the lobby to wait for an update on my spouse and that I had to leave the building. Absolutely disgusting. It’s no wonder this place has OVER HALF of its reviews being a literal ONE STAR. Fix yourself St. Joseph…

My experience in the emergency room of this hospital was the worst, I took my girlfriend because she was having very strong pain in her stomach, we were waiting for 5 hours, so much so that they never gave her medication to calm the pain, Gentlemen, this is the greatest lack of respect that exists, this hospital is terrible, I do not recommend it to anyone, do not go to this hospital, it seems incredible, it is embarrassing that the emergency room of this hospital works this way, and I have Seen several comments on the website and most are negative. I see that the problems continue and I don't see an improvement in this place. all the answers are the same. Pure bureaucracy.

Took family member in with chest pains and an extremely high bp.thw wait wasn't too long to get back to a room, a couple hours. The nurses and doctor in the ER were great. What was very disappointing was whe. He was order a cardiogram. He was ordered the previous evening around 9:30. He couldn't leave until this test was performed. At 1:30 pm the next day he asked the nurse when he would be taken for the test. Her response "later this afternoon, or you can just sign out against medical advice." Thank you we will. No care whatsoever. I was with him from 800am in the morning until he signed out AMA and not one person checked on him. St. Joe's used to be one of the beat hospitals but cleanliness and patient care are no longer a priority. Very sad.
