Just so you know.. 500 euros for a meal for 2 , Including 16 euros for 2 coffees that were not as good as a motorway cafe! The extortionate prices were not clear from the start otherwise we would have left immediately . This is a country village restaurant that serves so called ‘haute cuisine ‘ ie lots of tiny little portion tasters on big plates with flower decorations . Average but not great quality .After a long trip we just wanted a decent meal -we left feeling hungry. Sorry not impressed . We are not in Manhattan or London’s Savoy hotel where you are surrounded by glamorous nightlife and may expect these prices; this restaurant is a converted bungalow in a desolate village street in the middle of nowhere! The cost was a complete rip off !Lesson learnt.

Very strange experience at Taubenkobel. Food was very good but service was very strange. I dont think they are incompetent, but the really did not care. Welcome staff was apsolutly incompetent and not interested girl. Head waiter did not bither to explain the concept of the menu witch is not straightforward. When explained it is quite reasonable, and interesting concept. Food came cery precise and with high quality ingredients, but waither did not bither explaining the dishes. My gut feeling is that they have a bad relations with staff. The energy of the place was aqward. It was Subday lunch and they were quite empty. We came because of the reputation of the place from previous years but it seems that restaurant lost it.

This restaurant has created one of the worst experiences we ever had in a restaurant. We had to put it on our BANNED list unfortunately. To be frank - we visited the restaurant twice so far, one time more than 10 years ago (when it still had 2 Michelin stars, now it has NONE and is not even mentioned anymore in the Michelin guide). and were totally excited about the food and the service. We went there a second time in 2012 with French friends and spent hundreds of Euros but the food and the service was already not on the level we experienced the first time. Today we drove there 100 km to celebrate my birthday with my mother and my wife and were full of hopes - all thrown in shatters by a completely unacceptable and irresponsible attitude of the owner Mrs. Eselboeck. Covid-19 is dramatically increasing also in Austria. In the nearby capital Eisenstadt they are in Red colour and there is no question that this Virus is to be taken serious. We simply requested that staff is wearing a mask when serving us the food, especially important as every dish will come with a lengthy explanation and so we would eventually be exposed if the staff is infected. We know there is no legal requirement for restaurants to wear masks (unlike Supermarkets and pharmacies) but last week we went to a REAL 2 star Michelin restaurant in Vienna and every staff had a shield mask. Not so in Taubenkobel ! We were rudely told that since there is no legal requirement they won't wear any mask. We suggested to provide new masks that we always carry with us, to find a compromise - but it was refused and in the discussion that followed, we argued that common sense and caution should prevail over a "legal requirement" but in the end we were told to leave the restaurant and threatened with police ! I can't explain how we felt - but such a behaviour of the owner of this place is in our view not worthy of a classy restaurant, but more on the level of a 3rd tier beer bunker. We could not believe that we would ever come across such an insulting behaviour of a restaurant. This is the lowest level I have ever experience and we can only speculate about why they lost ALL Michelin stars. Clearly that restaurant is not a class restaurant and they completely destroyed my birthday highlight event. At 13:30 we had to drive back hungry the 100 km to home. This restaurant will never see us again, but the good news is, there are many other excellent restaurants in Austria IN and AROUND Vienna - no need to shed a tear for this low level Taubenkobel. Food is important (we can not comment on this one of course) but attitude and customer Service (a word that this restaurant obviously does not know much about anymore) is AS IMPORTANT. If I could I would give zero points, simply because it is better to leave such a place, rather than to contract Covid-19, as it happend to guests also in the Billionaires Club in Sardinia - High level is more than expensive food - it is about decent behaviour and class - both absent in Taubenkobel. As I said - last week we ate in a 2 Star Michelin Restaurant in Vienna and had a delightful experience. There are great alternatives - not worth to think about Taubenkobel.

Amazing place for eating. And the austrian organic wines are fantastic. A place to remember to come back in the future, but then we'll book a room at their hotel. Thanks a lot, you gave us a fantastic evening!!!

Mixed feelings. You can only have the set menu. Some dishes had an amazing taste others impossible to describe. We liked 3 out of 7 dishes. The sweet dessert were not included in the menu. It cost us for two almost 500 euros with one bottle of wine, but no pairing wine (pairing was 85 euros each, the bottle of great wine was 75, but for the quality was very good wine). Overall disappointing, but recognising some amazing tastes as well.

Fantastic spur of the minute lunch in this beautiful place. The food was delicious and well presented. The wine was also delicious and the setting very tasteful.

Excellent. I’m a big fan of their bistro named ‘Greisslerei’, serves some great steak and other amazing food — the wines are excellent, and the selection of groceries, etc you can take along plays in the same league. The feel is like sitting in a hip bistro, surrounded by nice people. Not sure why they don’t keep a separate entry for this place, as it’s not same as ‘Taubenkobel’ and has different opening times.

Absolutely wonderful dinner, and good value for money. Didn't get the tasting menu, but got the oven baked veal, and it was probably a bit too much for two people. Service was great too. Will definitely come again.

Food was amazing, highly recommended. Rooms - at least ours - was subpar as it had almost no windows, furniture needs an overhaul, and was very noisy (we could hear every step of the room above us). In conclusion, I recommend the restaurant but hotel was rather 3 stars.

Atmosphere and interior was really nice, we had a cosy place outside but still under a roof. we went for the set menu incl. wine. (138 + 88 € pP) food was good, out of the 5 courses I really liked 2 (smoked eel with goose liver and the pumpkinseedoil jelly) and the portions could have been a tat bigger and the service more attentive. they forgot our first pre-course and we had to fill up our water glasses by ourselves, which I wouldn't expect in that kind of restaurant. If I go there again I would probably go for the a la carte choices.

If you are hungry and want to really eat warm food, this isn't the place for you. The establishment has a set menu and will try to accommodate with more dishes that are not included in the mighty 140$ per person meal. Definitely not a place to eat. It is a rather fancy restaurant to come for a specific purpose which isn't the food itself. The dinner will be very time consuming too. The huge plates offer a small amoint of food and the breaks between each course are long enough to go hungry again. It is a fine and fancy looking place from the outside though. A small garden leads to a bigger terrace and then into a beautiful park with a lake. The inside is very classic and pleasant. The service is quite kind and pleasant too. It is its own kind of expirience.
