Absolute worst experience ever recieved, after unusual pain during pregnancy went in to check if everything is okay with my baby, explained situation to them nicely and they rudely just insisted I was in labor at 30 weeks, after being treated and spoken to horribly I was told to just sit down in the hallway not knowing to do I ended up waiting in hallway for 5 hours no midwife or nurses or any doctors available. Hospital is absolutely disgusting vomit and amniotic fluid all over the chairs and floors. Not to mention the putrid bathrooms and they manwr in which they maintain it is ungodly, medical waste, bloody sheets, urinated cloths and poo just thrown all over the floors and not properly discarded. Toilets are full of blood and urine on toilet seats, floors, walls and doors. Was told to do urine test where Urine cups were in a buckets of urine where I was told to take one out and use it. The most terrifying thing was definitely nurses shouting and swearing at a poor lady after giving birth as she was going in and out of it. Two beds away was a lady giving birth on the cold and DIRTY tiles of the hospital floors and another lady in the hallways on the floor having contractions and fully dilated and had to use her baby blanket on the floor because she was bleeding. Would never ever recommend this hospital to anyone pregnant not even if it were life or death

I have been attending all my check ups there from second month till I give birth due to previous c-section, God bless all nurses & doctors in ANC and Sonar Department ( especially Lindelani - sonographer ). With my second pregnancy I asked for vbac but I got admitted for c-section on the 18th Sept 2023 bcz I was 39 weeks few days. I think it's ward 11 or 14 19 Sept they had lot of emergency c-sections hence they rescheduled taking me to theater. 19th in the morning i started having contractions and they got stronger during the day then the other nurse checked me I think it was around 3pm and said my cervix is still in tact. They got more stronger in the evening and Dr checked me out, I think it was around past 7pm and she said I am only 1cm dilated but I was in so much pain. I think around 7h30, I couldn't hold the pain anymore, I was breathing out loud and the other nurse with traditional beads came and told me I am making noise and should just breath in and out silently and I told her that the pain is way too much and it's like I can't control it anymore; that time I was standing in the middle of the beds trying to go to the bathroom but I couldn't walk anymore and the nurse just left me there. Few minutes ( less than 15 minutes) after that i gave birth on my own while standing, the baby fell out of me and fell on the floor while I was trying to kneel down. I thank God she is alive. The patients I was with in the ward ran to call the nurses, that's when they came to my assistance. After giving birth, they just wrapped the baby and checked me out then rushed me to ward 8. Nurse Matee is the only one who apologized profusely for the way they handled my situation. The others were busy trying to cover their backs and kept saying the Dr said I was only 1cm dilated, that's the reason they didn't think I was in active labour. I am praying that her falling down doesn't affect her in the future.

I will never recommend this hospital for anyone I got sent out and was not abill to see my wife give birth to my son witch is not right as this is a government hospital for women how must a man show his support in that difficult time to his wife if the staff at this hospital will not even let me in with her as SE goes in labour

I wish I can give them less than one star . Rahima moosa hospital suppose to open 8 oโ€™clock but until 10 oโ€™clock no body is here . This is every day . All mother and small children (new born ) waiting out side since 6 oโ€™clock. In this cold weather and service is ridicules . And aircon is on whole night for no reason. Citizens are paying tax and government employees westing electricity for just like that .

WORST & DISGUSTING hospital ever. I lost my son in 2021 due to their negligence I was in active labour and they told me to wait in the queue. After waiting for 24 hours they told me my son has no heartbeat. They have no sense of urgency for mothers and children and should be SHUT DOWN! While I was in labour staff would mock and ignore mothers. Their bathrooms are filthy. Why are they still in practice?? Lord knows !

It's dirrrrrrrty. Yet there's always cleaning posts but who gets hired. Is there a hospital manager there. What is going on there. Toilets, corridors, windows, the whole building is FAIL FAIL FAIL! From the gate to all facilities. It shouldn't be used to treat human beings!!!!!

I must say I experienced the best treatment ever from the wards12&15- Nurses to the Doctorโ€™s. Delivery was through C-section and the treatment I got from the team in theatre was amazing! A huge thanks to you guys, keep up the good work and I thank God for the life of my bouncing baby boy. 28-10-2021

From attending both previous pregnancies and births in private hospitals and had my 3rd experience at this hospital 5 months ago. Ward 15 the nurses day and night staff were good and some doctors. Ward 7 some if the day and night staff. The pediatricians were very good in Ward 7. Let us respect the medical workers given with what is allocated to public health care.

I don't see how a mother and child hospital can give such poor service. Where is the compassion? My suster has been there for 24 hours with her 5 year old son and still they have not received help. Everytime they keep saying his surgery is later no later. He hasn't eaten in 24 hours. How can you starve a 5 year old kid???? She is not allowed to even ask for warm water to drink as the utilities is for patients only. Seriously so no mother may have water in this hospital? No mother may lay with her screaming child as she is not allowed on the bed? So he can loose his limb it's fine as there is absolutely no surgen on duty to have assisted them in 24 hours and everyone else is a higher risk case. Surely the medical board must intervene here. If this was your child would you allowed a hospital to leave him for 24 hours with a open wound and risk of limb loss?

So at 4am I brought the mother of my child to this hospital, who is going through preterm labour and till now 14:20pm they haven't assisted her. She is 6months pregnant and had her water break from 3am and is sitting on a chair. When the hospital is called all they say is the doctor has her file and she SHOULD be attended to shortly. Look i understand that there could be an a lot of people but for a hospital that deals with bringing new life they really are hasty

Negligent hospital with nurses that have no sense of urgency to black women's pain. In shock at the tragedy we experienced that could have been avoided if they cared enough. While experiencing pain my friend asked for a nurse to pour her water, and nurse responded "why? are your hands in pain".

They did try to save my son's life (born in 7 months) but God took him, my wife told me that she was beaten but she couldn't identify them because her blood pressure was over 190 she was mad. Anyway she is back with wound for operation and God took our son. Am not blaming anyone because its God's plan

My partner and I took our son to see the paediatrician this morning. He had been suffering from recurring illness and a bad chest. They were so helpful and efficient. They assisted us in getting to the route cause and now we feel so relieved to know what's wrong with our son,and that it's treatable. Thank you very much to all the staff involved.

I gave birth at this hospital almost three months ago. The experience was traumatic to say the least. I delivered my baby without assistance and sustained SEVERE tears to my perineum as there was no one monitoring the progress of dilation until it was too late. The nurses are ignorant and show no compassion at all.

My Foster daughter was brought in at 7h00 to give birth. Her husband has been there all day and he has been told his wife is in theatre. 12 hours later he is non the wiser and is told to leave the hospital. I tried phoning and it says, "the number you have called is unavailable" The family have no idea if indeed, my daughter and grand child are alive. THIS IS DISGUSTING.

This hospital can't even provide their pregnant patients with chairs to sit on at the anc clinic. Imagine being 9 months pregnant and having to stand for 1 and a half hours. You would think they would want to improve their services after all their bad reviews.

I've worked here, so maybe I'm a bit biased. As far as I know (from patients and medical staff alike) this hospital is best! Unfortunately, as a result and as part of our reality, the hospital is always full and busy. And due to lack of infrastructure management, it can get full... lack of hot water, lack of water in general... but the staff is generally amazing

I was there on Wednesday aching from a cyst in pregnancy (which has been confirmed by 3 doctors) the doctor at Rahima referred me to gynecologist dep to clarify further on the cyst, Dr. Retha in gynecologist said there is nothing wrong with me and basically indicated that I am faking my illness...I was sent home with antibiotics and pain killers and 2 days later I am still in excruciating pain, I had to get help from another hospital. I am disappointed by my current experience.

Wow, I was in awe of the treatment the nursing staff dish out, the doctors on the other hand friendly and helpful. I didn't think a nurse was allowed to turn anyone away without rendering any medical assistance, because they didn't have a referral letter. The nursing staff scream, and talk to you without any emotion, making you feel like a stray dog....

I love the sonar staffโ€ฆ today I felt a bit hot and they were all so concerned that I was feeling hot while pregnant and it was coldโ€ฆ the sonar staff are the best!!! I arrived at 7:30am and by 9:20 I was at home(Roodepoort) Sonar department you guys really love what you do and we can see it, you donโ€™t treat patients like theyโ€™re little kids and I like how you take your time to do a sonar and even show us our babies. At some point I burped and the sonographers were sooo concerned I had to explain that I was just burping๐ŸคฃGOD BLESS YOU!! Iโ€™ve been going to that hospital with my pregnancies but I must say, the only department that has ever treated me bad is the ANC department. The sisters that take BP are so rude and cold, even disrespectful, the lady that collects files for follow up visits is soooo rude as well. But I wonโ€™t trash the entire hospital because of them. If they donโ€™t wabt to work they must leavenโ€ฆ

Iโ€™m not happy at all. I was told Iโ€™ll be going to theater on Tuesday the 3rd morning. I stopped eating at 12 midday and signed my consent form around 4pm. I changed into operation gear and prepared for a c section. Now itโ€™s Wednesday the 4th 15:23, I still havenโ€™t been attended and no one is bothering to update me. 27 hours of not eating while 42 weeks pregnant . Iโ€™m shaking of hunger and wondering how long this will go on for.๐Ÿ˜ญ

Do not go here, do not go!!! Toilets dirty with blood everywhere... Same toilet is out of order and no lights. This has to be one of the worst hospitals shem. Brought a lethargic toddler after three hours of vomiting around two in the morning and not assisted until six, no one to assist with opening a file and told to wait until day admin arrives. Rude staff and don't know how to treat people... Was told to go back to where I came from after asking where should I go seeing that there is no one to assist with opening the file. If I had a zero or half a star I'd rate them.

Its the second time giving birth at Rahima Moosa first time was in 2016 and recently in 2021 I would like to compliment the staff which was working under pressure after taking patients from Charlotte Maxheke Hospital after the fire they worked round the clock .My experience was wonderful in terms of treatment from the nursing staff my blood pressure was very very high and after giving birth my baby was refusing to feed was panicking because her sugar levels kept dropping but with the help I got I went home a happy mother. I cannot remember the name of the Nurse who delivered my baby may you be blessed you were very kind ๐Ÿค—and was moved to another ward where Sister Twala took over and she was very helpful since I was panicky cause my baby wasn't feeding .

Ward 8 maternity wards service is absolutely disgusting...there was a worker there doing admin and was soo mean to everyone. She didn't have a name tag on...had a brown wig, not easy on the eye, she was even laughing at my childs outfit when discharging me. Rude...and she is definitely not a professional nurse. All professional nurses in this hospital are good. But there's these other ones just sitting there to gossip. Ward 8 is embarrassing. Since when do nurses at this hospital shout at foreign nationals?? Wasnt like this b4...I'm embarrassed for the nurses. Their oath doesn't include shouting at Patients. I was traumatized by Ward 8...please train them!!!! It was the day shift ladies on the 24th of March 2023.

Rahima Moosa does not have any water at the moment, and the heat wave is making things worse for patients. Patients are not given air fan cooler or air ventilation. How are patients who don't have much water kept? For the past six days, my sister has been in the hospital, which has been the worst experience of her life. A hospital for disasters.

  • 5/5 Bongi E. 1 year ago on Google
My experience with the hospital was 5 star treatment, from when I was attending my antenatals to when I gave birth. The doctors were amazing (Dr Marais, Dr Borotho, Dr Wise) and the others who I didnโ€™t mention. I think it would be nice if they introduced themselves more because I only took three names home with me ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚. You guys deserve your flowers. I gave birth on the 3rd of Jan via C-section and I want to commend all the doctors who helped me deliver my baby boy safely. Often times people dwell on the bad and take away from recognising the impeccable job these doctors do and I refuse to dwell on the 1% that was not good. Iโ€™m honestly grateful and wish God can bless all of you. Nurses in ward 12 and 15 are great people, very helpful and efficient. Let me also applaud all the interns, lol as scared as most of you look half of the time, you guys are doing exceptionally good. Thank you so much guys!!! Keep up the great work โค๏ธ

The most disgusting hospital ever. There are rats or mouses at night. The beds in maternity ward are filthy dirty and they don't change sheets from previous patients. Thank God I was not there to give birth. They shout at patients who are giving birth like little kids. I remember vomiting while waiting for my results because of how disgusted I was and they shouted at me for vomiting. That hospital must just close down, period nothing is right there. All the know is discussing or gossiping about patients and especially foreigners who don't know English or any south African language. There was this one young nurse wearing wits uniform with sunglasses all she did was being on the phone giving bad treatment to patients. People aren't forced to study nursing

This is the worst place I have been or seen in regards to health care. The guards are extremely rude and are not concerned about anyone's safety. While places like this should be care giving facilities the people working here have no regard for the people they are ment to be helping. The best advice I would give it find an alternative facility and let this place be shut down and rebuilt with people who have bigger minds than lining their pockets with money.

Good experience. 2022 I suffered severe morning sicknesses and I got assisted. Just gave birth in April and my experience was good. Just that you will wait a bit longer to be induced. I'd like to thank the nurse who assisted me giving birth there by ward 15 stage rooms, I just didn't get her name, a tall Tswana lady who wear glasses, she was wearing maroon scrubs that night. I gave birth on August 17th via an elective c section but was booked and admitted on the 14th. I didn't wait long compared to other women who had been "in the queue" for a week. The day before I finally got the c section I was told not to eat before surgery (to avoid complications during surgery) and because the queue is so long and unpredictable, I ended up essentially fasting all day. What makes elective c sections unpredictable is the fact that there are many women, not enough doctors and/or facilities and if there is an emergency c section that takes priority. The nurses are VERY competent and in most cases they are lovely people, they were not spiteful or violent to myself or anyone I interacted with (and I moved to 3 different wards). Also, making someone wait 6 hours post-op to give them pain meds or allowing them to MOVE is highly irregular and extremely painful. Please change this so mothers can better care for their newborns who need to be breastfed and bonded with timeously. TLDR: the staff is competent, they just need more doctors and from my experience I would recommend you give birth there. PS: if you are unhappy or treated badly while you are there, you can report the nurses to the matron or the doctors to their superior, they are extremely responsive. Good luck & congratulations on your baby!

My experience at Rahima Moosa was bittersweet. I was 41weeks and a few days post date when I was admitted. To be honest I was expecting and prepared (mentally) for the worst treatment from staff because that is the norm from public hospitals vele. To My surprise, From the sister in casualty opening a file for me to Sister Lunga(Ward 8 i think), who processed my admission was so sweet and made me laugh even to the Dr that did my sonar. The sisters in Ward 15 (Day & Nightshift) were amazing. They were so kind. Spent New Years Eve & day with them and I really didn't want to leave. They made the pain seem bareable in a way. Forcing us to dance and even making me dance with my partner in a circle. I hated it but I wasn't expecting to receive such warmth from those women. I had an emergency c-section and although I was scared the head sister on nightshift calmed me down and assured me everything will be okay. I forgot her name kodwa Thank you. Even the portors and the anesthesiologist guy were so sweet. The one porter even came to check and my and my baby in Ward 10. I only remember Sister Puseletso (my favorite) day shift Ward 10, thank you for making me laugh and entertaining me. Sister Holmes on nightshift helped me & I appreciate it so much. I can't remember everybody's name but I thank you for your kindness and warmth. The day I was discharged, the dayshift staff had changed cz I think the previous was on leave or something. I'm very glad I experienced a few hoursof you cz that team was so rude and honestly the very exact kind of treatment I was expecting before I arrived. We came back a few days later to do our baby's birth certificate and the lady assisting us at home affairs was so rude. We arrived just after 1pm and she gave us forms and told us to fill them out. Didn't explain anything either. We filling out the forms and she comes rushing in at about 13:35 telling us we are taking long and she wants to do finger prints. She starts shouting saying we aren't finished and her Transport is leaving at 2pm and they need to close she's not going to wait for us. mind you the sign outside says they close at 15:30. She starts getting frustrated and tells us we didn't fill this in and that in. I told her we didn't even know cz she didnt tell us.she slams the papers down tells us to hurry up and takes her ink and storms out to help another couple. Eventually we finish and she comes to do our prints. She ends up giving us the other couples birth certificate instead of ours. When we give it back to her she gives us attitude and gives us the correct one. Yoh we just said thank you and left. Didnt get her name but she was an elderly lady. Anyway, a few rotten seeds there and the bathrooms could have been cleaner (they were really cringe) but i dont think thats the hospitals fault entirely cz women have a tendency of leaving their leftovers all over toilets anyway.

Worse experience ever๐Ÿ˜ญrude nurses from maternity wards. Dey shout and treat people like animals. It would be better if all nurses wer whites and indians. Indians and white Doctors as well as theatre stuff are very good and kind๐Ÿ˜. This hospital should employ more whites and Indian nurses please

Had an emergency referral for my daughter, she was seen by Dr. Megan Frampton. Very thorough, sweet and compassionate Dr. I was satisfied and reassured my girl is well when we left the hospital.
