Absolutely abhorrent environment. This facility should be shut down, I don’t know where to start. I was finally discharged this morning after fighting tooth and nail to not have my hold extended all for crying. You are not to show emotion here, the staff members are cold hearted and BULLY. They make you write down your triggers so that they may use them against you. Staff slamming doors and yelling all the time, shining the flashlight DIRECTLY in your face from four feet away every 15 min. and leaving your door wide open (even after asking multiple times to please crack it) at night so you cannot sleep. There is absolutely no respect for patients, you’re an animal. They enjoy watching you writhe. Anything you say or do will be used against you- all they care about is keeping beds filled, patients doped up, and keeping you overall miserable. By my second night, I had had it and broke down. I asked if I could speak to someone, just sit next to someone, and I was met repeatedly with a stoic, “Please stop crying and go to your room.” -Peace A. There is nothing to do. There are two day rooms with a couple of busted board games and puzzles with missing pieces. Everything is beige and depressing. The food made myself and several other patients ill, I wouldn’t feed it to a dog. You will be treated as if you are severely handicapped, even if you are clearly a fully cognizant individual who just wants help for your demons. By my third night, I was fearing for my life. Staff do not know how to handle an agitated patient at all, and allow serious disruption and harassment between patients- likely encourage it. I feel utterly traumatized by my experience here. Cold hearted people like yourselves are the reason I ended up there in the first place.

I want everyone to know not to come here, and don’t send others here either. This place is horrific. I don’t think I can truly explain how terrible of a place this is. I was sent here when I was 13 years old. I am 19 now, and still haven’t healed from my stay here. I can truly say that being in this hospital was the worst time of my life. Everything about this hospital is terrible. When I went I had immense amounts of anxiety due to staff members. I was actually sent into one of the day rooms with with an employee where he threatened me and made me feel very scared. Minutes after he talked to me I had a panic attack where I fell to the floor and blacked out. During my stay girls and boys weren’t separated properly. This led to an 18 year old touching me, a 13 year old inappropriately multiple times. I was embarrassed, uncomfortable, and extremely scared. This was not seen by any staff members. I remember I had to move beds multiple times because they didn’t place me properly. They could not stop fights properly, in fact they evoked them. The staff treated you like animals. They acted as thought they could do whatever and say whatever they wanted. I was 13 years old and had to be placed with people who wanted to kill others, people who were going to jail, in fact I learned a great amount about pistol whipping during my stay. I was scared. I ended up getting a special privilege to walk to a vending machine which was where the adults stayed. I heard loud screaming and crying from patients. I really hope they don’t mistreat the adults in the ward either.

Traumatic and harmful experience. To sum it all up, I was admitted to the adolescents unit in January in 2022. I was treated well at first, but this rapidly changed. I had to do many COVID tests, and they all came out negative. I was kept in the sick bay until the final one would arrive. Neither me or my family got the results until a few days after my discharge. I had my rights of seeing any doctors, the right to call my parents, and the right to refuse staying longer than intended all violated. I was locked in that room for over 48 hours. My items were delivered the afternoon I arrived, but I didn't get them until around dinner the next day. I was scolded for not eating when I physically couldn't due to other health issues, but when I explained that I wasn't taken seriously. Only about 3 people there was actually nice and comforting, but everyone else was rude and didn't care. Most of the time I had nothing to do because I finished the 3 word searches and a book they gave me. I only got more activities the day I left. They kept threatening to keep me longer, but as listed in the pamphlet, they could not keep me if I am an active danger to my self or others, and that keeping me longer will improve my issues. Nobody took any rights into account, and when I demanded to see my social worker/representative, I got laughed at. When I finally saw the psychiatrist, he said that I would have to stay another 10 days. Throughout my stay, I was asking to call my parents, and they kept calling to speak to me. I only was available to talk to them about 2 times in my stay. This place led me to feel worse, and has caused lasting issues for me.

Funny how this place has deleted 2 of my previous reviews. I spent 10 days there, 7 of those I was held ILLEGALLY. Thank god for my mom calling patient rights multiple times while I was in there who in turn conducted an investigation and that’s how I was released. While I was there I received the worst treatment and witnessed so much malpractice. The staff abuses the patients and the drs over medicate. Please don’t send a loved one or yourself there. It will only damage you more.

This place is awful. My wife went here because she needed to see a psychiatrist to help with her mental health issues. My wife only saw the doctor 3 times for a total of less then 10 minutes! That is unacceptable. “Dr.” Bhullar did ABSOLUTELY nothing. This place offered no help to someone that needs help. The people who took phone calls were always rude and short talking down to people because I need my questions answered and needed my wife to get help. Majority of the people don’t care that they’re supposed to help people and assist others. After my wife was released the doctor said he would give her the paper work so she can turn it in to her employers but the doctor never gave it us. When we called to ask for it they told us the doctor should have given it to us but he clearly did not and they said it is almost impossible to get the paperwork after being released. Clear these “health care providers” do not care at all about their patients well being.

ABSOLUTELY NOT! This hospital is so sick! Im waiting for people to shut down this awful place! A nurse karate chopping a patients arm while they are trying to get help? HUGE NO NO! Imagine the sick and twisted things that go on in this hospital? Also, STRIPPING your patients in front of MALE doctors? What are we? Prisoners? Im NEVER EVER coming here again. Such a awful experience! This place HAS TO BE SHUT DOWN IMMEDIATELY! Do you know how much children/ parents who dont know how sick this hospital is come to get help for themselves/ their children? Wow. Just wow! Im speechless. Somebody should start a petition to take this hospital DOWN!

This place is terrible! They stole my mom's wallet and wedding rings. Claiming they were picked up with no evidence of who and when. No sign out sheet or anything. The staff haw been avoiding us since she was released lastnight. There is no excuse for the treatment given, the lack of professionalism. Keeping her drugged up while they Rob her of her belongings. This facility better recover my mother's belongings or I will be calling the police and news stations to alert them of what type of nonsense is taking place here!

The staff is really rude. A female staff member hung up in my face. I receive several calls from a patient who has the wrong number. I been getting calls day and night and voicemails. When contacting the hospital, a staff member answered asked which patient I wanted to speak to. I answered not a patient, she immediately said well bye and hung up. I have spoke to patient prior. At the time I did not know the number was to a mental hospital. I then received several more calls (over 15 calls and voicemails)I am concerned about that patient since The staff shows lack of care, responsibility and respect. The voicemails are concerning from the patient as well. I don’t believe they are doing their jobs correctly. I am looking for a corporate number.

Terrible place. Unorganized and VERY rude staff. I was held for an additional 4 days illegally thank god my mom helped me out. I feel terrible for the patients remaining there. The program is a joke and is NOT HELPFUL - in my time there I had no counseling or therapy or any kind. The group therapy is a joke. I was diagnosed BPD and given zero information on my diagnosis. I’m trying to get my records for additional help at another behavioral health clinic and keep getting voicemail and no callback. Please if your considering this place for a family don’t - they are better off in your care. I’m great full for my diagnosis but other then that I have sever trauma from being there.

If I could give it 0 stars I would. I was put into H unit (adolescent unit) and I can 100 percent say that I was left in worse shape after the fact than I was before. We were kept in our rooms(should be called cells) for a MINIMUM of 4 and a half hours a day with 0 interaction with another person, as I didnt have a roomate for about a week. Group therapy was cancelled a majority of the time which made out "quiet time" much longer. the longest i stayed in a room was 9 HOURS The staff? awful. The conditions? awful. Do not send anyone you care about here or yourself. ever.

Many staff members deserve to be fired for extreme negligent malpractice. The facility is a silent murderer causing people to overdose on too high dosages of pills. Patients should have the right to say no and be told what they are taking. My other review was taken down. It is truly illegal what is done here.

My daughter is there now. So far, I'm less than impressed with this place. After reading the reviews I find that the uneasy feeling in my gut is right on. Thank all of you who have shared about your experiences with this facility. No onewins until we speak up and are seen and heard..target.thing is definitely off with this place. Th

i went here twice once when i was 13 and once when i was 14. the second time i went i had just gotten out of inpatient treatment for anorexia. i was 14 years old and the dietician in the adolescent ward made my roommate step outside so she could talk to me. apparently my cholesterol was high. she told me i should lose 5 pounds and put in my file i couldn’t have any sugar. i didn’t eat the rest of my stay in the hospital. did nobody tell this dietician not only my history with anorexia but also that high cholesterol is a common side affect of anorexia? i’m still struggling with my eating disorder and i think about the words that woman said to me everyday. i have many more stories of this place but this one has stuck with me the most. worst hospital ever i came out worse than when i went in.

A couple days ago one of the nurses in the ADOLECENT unit called my anorexic sister FAT after she politely asked for another serving because she is trying hard to recover.... I had also stayed there a couple months ago. Mold on the beds, they didn't watch you carefully. Staff was rude. And one of the doctors gave me a medicine to drug me to sleep in a dose that a 14 year old should NOT have been given. (Mind u I was there for substance abuse)

I just got discharged yesterday from this hospital, It wasn’t that bad but the most of the nurses didn’t care about people's triggers like there was this one nurse, Ashley who slammed a door really loudly on purpose and it really triggered people and she just yelled at them, I think the staff needs know how care to different peoples needs. They also put me on a 10 foot with 3 people because I high fived them. I don't remember the girls name but she threatened to take away my cups because I laughed.

I was sent here because it was the only hospital with a bed open and I felt relived that I was actually getting help. I could not have been more wrong. I was checked in at night while everyone was asleep except for a few, the patients there were more helpful than any of the staff. My allergies were ignored, I saw patients that I would end up befriending be given horrible treatments such as denying important medications or over prescribing, I myself was given medication without any consent from myself or my legal guardian (I was 17 at the time and this was after my 72 hour hold), the medication I was given without acknowledgement was later looked up and with the other medication I was also prescribed, was a mental equivalent to a horse tranquilizer, day staff would keep us in our rooms for hours and hours on end, I learned way later in my stay by a night staff that day staff was supposed to give us an hour outside everyday, I only went outside once in my over a week stay. The doctor prescribing my medication would belittle me for being sensitive to medications, would talk about my personal health records in front of everyone in the day room, and even cornered me in my room with no staff to see and while my roommate was in emergency care. The nurses asked one another if I should be code red ("booty juiced" as us patients would say) when I was having a breakdown after the doctor cornered me and I wasn't falling asleep. The other nurse said no because I wasn't "crazy enough". Before my discharge (even though I was left more mentally ill than when I got there) I was supposedly being "tested", during that test I was yelled at by a psych/doctor/nurse so I decided to stay silent and not answer her, she then yell at me more for being "disrespectful" because I wasnt saying anything and locked me in that "test" room for an hour as I screamed and cried to be let out after I "disobeyed". It's well after my discharge now and I was lucky to survive it. P.s. it took me a while to finally speak out about this. I hope the friends I had to leave behind also made it out. The photo is from my notebook I had in the hospital. The comment from the owner most likely under this review is copy and paste, not actual help. -X

Before my young adult was transferred, I read so many awful reviews. We were very concerned. What we experienced was nothing like the reviews. The staff were professional, responsive, knowledgeable, and kind. My child felt safe and received great care. Visiting hours are limited and the snack machines in the break room weren’t working during our visits, but those were minimal issues. My child was safe and left the hospital in a better emotional state than when they entered.

Just bad, very bad. Don't go here. - They had no pillow for me, the pillows they did have were uncomfortable. -Cold showers until the water heats up after about 5 minutes to luke warm. -Some of the nurses were plain weird and would point to incorrect information in order to scare you (for example pointing to the 30 day stay instead of the one that says 14 days which the 14 day was the one that the doctor actually ordered) -Food compared to other mental hospitals was sub-par -Barely anything to keep your mind occupied for the 16 hours you'll be awake every day. -Basically horrible in every way

i came on to this page initially for the number to the hospital, but i was curious to see if there were any new changes since i was admitted 2 YEARS ago. and it’s heartbreaking to see that it’s exactly the same. Ashley and Olivia should be fired, and i don’t understand how they are still working there, considering how often their names are negatively talked about. is it because the people who are admitted can’t have opinions on them because we’re mentally ill? what is the reason as to why 2 people who are disrespectful, power hungry, and don’t actually care about the kids in there, STILL working at a mental hospital. Ashley and Olivia have the nastiest attitude and likes to claim it’s because she has “tough love”, but what is she doing that’s actually tough love? giving attitude to 16 year olds? yelling at kids who have triggers and don’t understand coping methods? It’s not a surprise that Ashley and Olivia are always together, their exactly the same. is this really the type of people that you would want treating your kids who are mentally i’ll and need help? DO BETTER FOR US.

Hell on Earth. In this hospital the staff did not care about me at all, they forced me to be on medication and would threaten me with injections if I refused the medication. The staff also would laugh at me, verbally abuse me , belittle me at any chance they got. No therapist at all, the psychiatrist prescribed me so much medication to the point where I could barely read or talk, they turned me into a zombie. I was involuntarily admitted here and nobody even told me I was going into the psych ward of this hospital there was no introduction no formalities just a strip search and the provision of a gown. The staff would often ignore me and yell at me when I was on the phone. They even locked me in a room because I did not want to take my medication. All the employees of this hospital truly showed me the evil in the hearts of humans. This place traumatized me as they kept me here for a month way longer than my involuntary hold was supposed to last and when my mom asked how long they would hold me they said "until insurance stops paying". A truly evil place with only greed in their minds. I still have nightmares about this place, nobody should have to be locked up like this I felt inhuman staying here. The room itself is something straight out of a horror movie, disgusting bed , dirty shower, metal mirror, shower curtain with no door in bathroom. The food tasted like dish soap and was the worst food I have ever eaten. They don't even let you go outside and another thing is you have a roommate and almost all my roommates were complete psychos. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN!!!!

Was a "patient" here luckily for 3 days and couldn't understand what I was getting into. The hospital is horribly understaffed as when I was being discharged, I was discharged 2 hours late due to my psychiatrist being late and then being even more lazy to even fill out my paperwork. The staff treat you like you are an inmate in a prison and are terribly biased. Over half of the social workers and ALL of the psychiatrists/doctors were "rentals," AKA they are not permanent doctors. This place attempts to milk you for every cent as they attempt to incentives your stay by putting you on medication and extending your stay by a week or two to "monitor" you. While I was sent here due to suicidal tendencies, this place arguably made them worse as I struggle with the PTSD of some of the stuff I experienced in this hospital, such as constant fights that were biased by the staff, and some "patients" of the hospital being assaulted while in the hospital in multiple ways.

+please tell me how we can really do something about this place other than complain and sit around hoping things change. i was here for 17 days and could not believe that places like this actually operate. the staff here...( or cowards i will call them ) come to work and blatantly, purposefully, get together and laugh at the patients for whatever reasons i cant seem to find. people come for help for what reasons they do not even ask you. these people act as if their high school diploma registered them as masters of the universe. i had to bring to the staffs attention that there were so many patients complaining about their harassment that they asked me to say something about it, not to mention the day room where we eat stunk so bad they shut and locked the door. so what happened to me after i mentioned the fact that these were people checking themselves in after suicide attempts, and are extremely on edge already that making fun of them and was one of the most pathetic, not to mention unprofessional gestures ive seen in my life...these cowards would not wash my laundry, give me the extra piece of fruit i was to have at snack, shut off the hot water in my bathroom , you name it. these people know think that once that door closes they are god....im here starting my process with you to show you that you are nothing but unhappy, pathetic, people who will never prosper .

Thank you Sierra Vista. My partner was admitted there for psychosis a few weeks ago. The doctor had to place her on a 5250 because she was not safe to leave. Then she agreed to voluntarily sign herself into Sierra. I was very happy about this because I know good treatment (detoxing from Adderall, assessing and reassessing medications) takes a lot longer than a few days. I talked with Dr. Kahlon a few times. He was very receptive and agreed to change Zyprexa to Latuda when I told him she stopped taking the med 20yrs ago. Unfortunately, my partner continued to be paranoid as well as hearing voices. While she was there she was very happy with the care. Ester was one of her favorite people. Thank you Ester for making a potentially uncomfortable situation a much better place. By the last half of her stay, she knew everyone by name. Thank you Sydney! Thank you Grace! Thank you Maggie! As for her time spent there, I gave her an activity book to help with boredom but she hardly used it. She enjoyed the group therapy and the time outside. She said the food is ok. She liked the snacks. Even though B unit was very loud and chaotic at times (which is not surprising considering everyone is there for psych issues), she met a lot of good people. Upon discharge, Carrie contacted me and worked with my schedule to bring Kelly home to me. She even set up outpatient therapy and a ride to get there. Thank you everyone. As a nurse in an acute care hospital I know how hard your job is; and psychiatric nursing takes a very special person with a lot of patience. The reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that Kelly did not get her new prescriptions at discharge.

Sorry but this needs to be said. The person who answers the phone calls "female" is so unprofessional. You call and can not talk to family that is there I understand this but why can she explain why to people who don't understand the reason why. She never explains nothing to the family members. I understand HIPPA but there's a way to explain everything and her attitude and customer service skills is not acceptable. I usually don't leave any reviews but I had to today because this was not the 1st,2nd,3rd time this is the 4th time we called and so has other family members and got the same . So sad this is no wonder the reviews are 1.7 . I had to give a star because they won't let you leave a review they would of got a 0 from me. SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT..

I posted a review for this hospital 6 years ago, 2 years after I had been a patient at Sierra Vista, but decided to write a new one with my current reflection. It’s so sad to look at these reviews and see that Sierra Vista is still doing the exact same things that they put me and others through almost a decade ago. The abuse and mistreatment I saw every minute I was there is still vivid in my memory. Forced medications, restraints when they were ABSOLUTELY not needed, verbal abuse from the staff, lack of any form of actual treatment (I recall never meeting with a social worker, when this is the law that you need to, and the psychiatrists were nonexistent and if you were lucky enough to sit down with them they would disregard all patients rights and often prescribe medication that had several reactions with other medications patients were on because they didn’t pay any attention or care at all). I still remember a staff member named Ms Tina there. She would scream at us and tell us to sit down and shut up and sit in chairs and put our hands on the hand rest and wouldn’t stop yelling until everyone was absolutely silent and still. I remember being so afraid. I’ve been in a lot of psych facilities before, but Sierra Vista is more vivid in my memory than much of the others. I was 15 when I was there, and I still think of it today at 24. It hurts my heart to think about the kids there going through what I did. I was so scared. I remember they would force us to stay in our rooms sometimes all day. I remember kids crying, and instead of being supported they were made fun of and physically held down and forcefully medicated. I see that you have been replying to everyone’s reviews with shallow apologies and condolences. I urge you to instead of just trying to make yourself look better in the face of criticism you look at the actions that your hospital has been taking for at least the last decade. Think of all of the children that have been traumatized just like me and everyone else commenting. These are kids we’re talking about, going through a turbulent time in their lives and requiring HELP. Instead you guys have made us all worse. Actions speak louder than words. DO SOMETHING.

Tried to give me medicine I was allergic to. They didn’t listen, said I was lying. Proceeded to force me down and give me shots without my consent (goes against my first right). I told the workers I was experiencing an allergy symptom, (dystonic eye movements and high blood pressure) and was told “Oh, there is a 9 year old here who has to take that & she gets the same thing. But she has to take it.” Also told me that my symptoms “weren’t allergies” (ER, doctor, and psychiatrist at real hospital says otherwise). After they finally released me, I had to go to the ER for the allergies I was experiencing from the medicine. The ER had to give me an IV of Benadryl to stop the dystonic eye movements I was experiencing. I have a psychiatrist now who does not want me on ANY medication after the over prescription this place has done. Please lawyer up if you plan on going here, and plan on getting therapy for the trauma you will endure. They profit off of selling medication, so they lie to you saying you can’t leave without taking it. Every patient here is a victim.

I was a patient here and incredibly paranoid. My condition was left unaddressed while the staff were rude and abusive any time they got a chance. I was told by the lady administering the medication, that if I refused to take my medication, I would have tubes forced down my throat. (I was not even told what the medication was for or what it would help with.) I wish I got her name. She's old, wrinkly, short, and Caucasian. I asked for a book to read to help myself and was given a magazine with demonic drawings and notes. When i said to staff that there are nothing but pictures, and nothing to read in the magazine, i was told, "Oh I don't want to hear it." This lady was black and had an atrocious wig on. The obese lady there made me so uncomfortable and made me feel bad about myself and disgusting. I was scolded by yet another lady for not taking better care of myself while i was there but Sierra Vista is the last anyone can get help. I hate thinking of this facility. I have nothing but bad memories from the multiple times I was forced to stay here. I did not receive treatment here and if anything, I left feeling worse. The doctors here are lazy and ask all the wrong questions. They look like they enjoy seeing mentally ill people stay down. Sierra Vista needs an investigation, and the abuse needs to STOP. Also, i saw some frightening things that i don't wish to discuss here. It was as if the staff was triggering the clients/ guests on purpose. I have nothing but awful memories from this place. Thank you for nothing, Sierra Vista.

had a family member go here multiple times as well as friends and it’s known to be the worst mental hospital in sacramento when the took my sibling in they didn't even have enough hygienic resources for them to take a shower the first days they were there, they also lost their clothes and also had no clothes for people to borrow. not only that but they told me they literally witnessed a 12 year old girl getting slapped and mistreated by staff when they were trying to give her ER meds. they also told me there’s mold in one of the soap dispensers and showers which is definitely a health hazard. this place needs to be shut down.
