I called to let them know the tamales were raw the manager said she checked them and they were fine. I said I would take them back so they can see for themselves and I told her I just want them replaced and she said I could take them back and if they looked fine according to her , she would replace it if they looked fine she wouldn’t . When she said I just lost total respect at this point im just going to toss them and I just won’t go back . So much for trying to support local businesses.

A must visit place with great varieties of pan dulces. Also cheese chili tamales were amazing too. With more than 5 items was still less than $10.

I had bought tamales on July 25, 2023 they were very good with plenty of meat and masa. The cheese and raja tamales were also good and had plenty of cheese, chile and masa. The masa was very good and the size was large for 19.98 a dozen. Yesterday, August 11, 23, I bought tamales and was very disappointed. The red had fat and bone particles in the meat and hardly any masa. Needed salt. The green rajas had very little cheese and hardly any masa. The tamales were small . I want the person that made the tamales on July 25, 2023 back. 😔.

While I loved the selection and tamales, Gussie’s now has a new owner. We had purchased some green chile tamales months ago and the masa was raw but they were willing to exchange them. Never any issues with anyone or the food prior to that. We thoroughly enjoyed and miss the older woman with the pearls that used to greet everyone with a smile. She was awesome and on top of her game. Unfortunately, the new owner raised the prices and they lack customer service skills. I had asked for a box for my pastries and the young lady that was stuffing my 8+ items in little brown bags, huffed and puffed. It was like she was bothered that we made her work hard. She already had a bad attitude as it was but, why on earth would anyone stuff lovely and beautiful pastries into little brown lunch bags? The pastries are a bit off as well. New recipe but if it’s not broke, don’t fix it. While they look the same, they taste odd. Definitely not happy with all the new changes. My husband went in the other day and said the entire top row was missing and they didn’t have much. Hopefully things improve, it was such an iconic staple for central EP.

Definite five-star establishment. Their displays were absolutely loaded with pastries, even though I went in the evening. I ordered a few plus some donuts and they were all super fresh and delicious. I also ordered a bunch of tamales and they were also really good, definitely plumper than what I expected.

Best tamales ever. The staff is super friendly and can answer all your questions. I got the pork tamale and the green chili cheese tamale. They are big, two will definitely fill you up. I was so full I brought my chocolate sweet bread home. That was fantastic and recommended to me by the woman behind the counter. The food is very affordable so make sure you leave a good tip!!

Good, tasty, freshly made tamales as usual. The pan dulce (sweet bread) is good as well. Yummy! The staff is friendly and polite. They greet you with a smile and are quite professional. The only thing I would ask, not that I'm complaining, is that the tamales have a little more of a kick. That's just a personal preference. Seriously though, they are delishes and I'd recommend then to anyone looking for authentic tamales. Kudos Gussies Tamales. Great job.

Went to Gussie's for the first time with my family since I was driving by. My daughter picked out an assortment of cookies and pastries while I purchased a pastel de tres leches, since their tres leches is one of the best in El Paso. I paid and we went out to the car where my wife was waiting. Inside the car, my daughter opened up the bag with the cookies and gave one to my wife and after she finished the cookie, had me immediately go back inside to purchase more! 😆👍 If you see the picture, it was one of those cookies with the red filling in the middle.

I've had all four tamale flavors here, and they're all solid. I don't usually like tamales because it's difficult to get the ratio of dough to filling correct. But these were perfect, and they were large. Two is enough for a big appetite, three if you're starving. The best, for me, are easily pork/red and chicken/green. The bakery itself is decent, but don't expect to be blown away. It's standard Mexican bakery stuff. But there's still something special about being able to grab a couple tamales, an empanada, and some biscochitos to go. It sets you right, and for about $10.

Fast but busy, I only went for tamales since I was craving some. They were alright, nothing special. Mine were slightly undercooked, but I did enjoy them, good too lower tamales cravings this season. Only Bad Con is the price

Bought a bagfull of tamales on a recommendation from a friend, and they did not disappoint! Some of the best I've had.
