A quite museum tucked away downtown. It’s free and offers such a vivid account of the Nazi regime and life in concentration camps. They have many artifacts and displays that are both heartbreaking and very intriguing. It is a self guided tour, however there is a sweet staff member that is very happy to share stories and offer historical context. At the end the museum patrons are allowed to pay respects by placing a stone on a memorial. I highly recommend a visit. While I have no complaints, I would say that the gift shop is slightly spiritless. Overall though, a great experience.

“In memory of those who have no one left to remember them.” I did not have much expectation when I visited The El Paso Holocaust Museum and Study Center in Texas. There is no way that it could be better than the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum I visited in Washington, D.C. A look from the entrance suggests that it is indeed a small museum. Also, the museum seems unknown to many in the area, as no one around there even knew where exactly it is located. When I entered the museum, I was surprised how the exhibits were well put together. Small but it has amazing collection of resources and historic items. The coverage of the exhibits is sufficient enough to convey the significant events in the Holocaust. The section about Jewish El Paso history is informative. I would recommend that you visit the museum and donate to help educate everyone of the story that should never be forgotten.

This museum is very eye opening. You get a feeling as soon as you walk through the double doors. I liked to sit on the bench and listen to each video...it's very quiet. You have time to read. The pictures on display made my heart ache. The personal items made the experience that much more understanding. I respected some of the exhibit was placed behind a half wall for those visitors that might not be age appropriate. I would recommend this museum very much.

Wonderfully done museum with real artifacts. Well done video tour and timeliness as one walks through the holocaust from beginning to end. Includes interactive exhibits as well. The museum is free and accepts donations. They have a good book store and gift shop as well.

It was Free and they do except donations and they have parking and a store inside to purchase items and books. Wow. What an absolutely amazing museum. I studied the holocaust back when I was in middle school years and years ago and it has always intrigued me. This museum provides so much information and has a phenomenal amount of displays. I would 100% recommend visiting!!!

It was an eye opening to how many survivors lived in El Paso. Its a learning experience since you only learn a fraction in our schools. Had to bring my son and talk about his great grandparents and grandparents where they were at using the holocaust timeline.Remember history and don't let it repeat itself.

Very well designed and curated museum. As you go through the rooms, you get a chronological history of the Jewish people before, during, and after the Holocaust. It's not just exhibits scattered around, the party through the museum is an educational journey, at one point going into a replica box car and alongside barbed wire underneath a guard tower. The videos that are played in each room are well produced, concise, informative, and worth watching. While the lessons of the Holocaust inevitably involve mature and serious subject matter, I feel like this museum does a good job catering to a wide audience. There is no entry fee and this museum is definitely worth the trip.

Wonderful experience. Very clean facilities with friendly employees. Everything is authentic so it's an incredible thing to see. It really is educational and is a perfect place to learn about the Holocaust. You can take as long or as little time as you like. They even have educational films and clips on Tvs along the way.

Absolutely breathtaking and a must-see! When you arrive, expect to receive the kindest greeting. After signing in and getting a short description of the self guided tour, you are on your way. Stepping through the double doors, you are whisked back in time to Pre-world war II. Travel through the footsteps of the German Jewish community. Free to enter and tour, but please donate to the museum since this is mainly funded by donations.

An important piece of history that should not be forgotten or swept under the rug. There is no nice way to recount the atrocities that occurred during this time period but this museum definitely gets right to the point. It's quite surreal and makes you think and reflect on the terrible journey many experienced. The difficult subject matter might not be easily digested by all and you will definitely come out quite somber.

Beautiful, albeit small museum. It is a free museum, so that's the only negative I have about this place. Employees were friendly and very informative. Thank you for the educational experience.

Such a wonderful little museum. I had chills throughout. There’s a nice little bookstore at the entrance with an interesting collection of books. Free admission but I would suggest at least a $5 per person donation.

With the rising antisemitism and the constant antisemitic attacks we see throughout the United States, it's important to remember the history of the Jewish people and never forget what they endured so we will not repeat it. The Holocaust museum has many exhibits and a lot can be learned from it. The tour guides oftentimes have personal connections to family or friends who survived the Holocaust. Very important place for El Paso.

Very educational, emotional, and a need be place to visit. The haunting history is undeniable! People need to learn from their past to prevent a repeat in the future. It's the 21st century and we're still seeing horrible echoes of racism, anti-semitism, and discrimination in America of all places. People need to vote! People need to speak up and defend each other! The holocaust can't happen again! Walmart shooting can't happen again! Bad leaders in this country can't happen again! Read, learn, vote!

Visiting the museum is a great way to spend 1-2 hours learning about the atrocities of the Holocaust. Visiting the museum educated me on why we need to continue to fight fascism, the way my dad did while serving in WWII.

Learned more, even though I read a lot about world war II and the Holocaust. Beautifully laid out for ease of access and education. I wish every American would go through a place like this, so that they can understand what can happen in a country that is so divided that it becomes hateful.

It is a humbling experience and it is a great tour to do by yourself and not in a large group. You'll enjoy it better.

  • 5/5 Will L. 4 years ago on Google
It's a good, small museum. There are lots of timelines and videos. They creatively present content, including one part where information is presented inside of what looks like a train car destined for a concentration camp. Free admission with $5 suggested donation.

Informative, thought provoking, and gut-wrenching. Fantastic museum providing exhibits and information not just on the holocaust, but the rise and fall of the third reich. A must in El Paso for anyone interested in WWII and history in general.

By far one of the best museum's in El Paso. It's very important to visit history musuems so things like this never ever repeat themselves. It was truly a tradegy.

  • 5/5 IRHDZ95 1 year ago on Google
When I heard El Paso had a holocaust museum I just had to check it out.. And let me tell.. You trully immerse yourself in that moment in time of great sadness where humanity would of been lost if it wasn't for the brave men who put their lives on the line to change that. A great museum for adults and kids to learn about the holocaust. They have some exact if not replica pieces on display that show what It was trully like to live during that time. "To remember is to re-live again" We need more historical accurate museums like these soo that future generations learn what might happen if we start losing all sence of humanity in us. #NeverForget

I thoroughly enjoyed visiting this museum. While there was a lot of reading, models and pictures provided additional information. The inclusion of a listing of people from other countries who hid and protected Jewish children, adults, and families was unique information I haven't seen anywhere else.

  • 5/5 Amber U. 1 year ago on Google
It’s very well put together. There are many real items from the holocaust. It’s very informative.

  • 4/5 David F. 1 year ago on Google
Considering it's a free museum, it is not bad. There is some history in there, but you can literally walk through it fairly quickly. For El Paso it's not bad compared to the quality of the other local museums. I would just advise you to be aware that they may not be open always as they are closed unexpectedly from time to time. Worth it if you have in interest in WW2 but not a must see if you are visiting El Paso.

Spent the day with my son studying the Holocaust while we were in town visiting and was excited to go in for a few moments only to be turned away!!!!! It was 4:34 and was told they stopped letting people in at 4:30 even though they don’t close until 5pm. We traveled all the way there to be turned away!! We only wanted a few minutes! I did check the website after writing this review and it does say that tours need to be started 30 minutes prior to closing but I would think as close as we were to the time a little lead way could have been given. Maybe my review will help someone else not get turned away.

  • 5/5 rhi23 p. 4 years ago on Google
Very humbling and well designed. The museum walks you through the holocaust from start to finish. I would recommend going to visit at least ince.

  • 3/5 Aaron S. 6 years ago on Google
The museum is very nice! Since it is self-guided, each station is set up in a way that you can visualize what happened. There are TV's available with a short video throughout the tour, which explain everything from the beginning to the end. In my opinion the videos are not spaced out enough. You have 2 short minutes between each station to look at everything before the video started playing in the next station. What my family and I did was waited for the video to replay before continuing. **Some images shown are not appropriate for small children.** My only complaint was with the security officer on duty at the time of our visit. We were in the last exhibit and had roughly 8 minutes before closing, well as soon as the video ended he rushed us out! We did not have time to look at everything, I tried snapping pictures so I can read/see the information that was posted. We could have easily finish the tour before closing time. We live 18 hours away we will not be able to visit the museum ever again, I wish he would have allowed us to finish. And for this reason alone is why I gave a rating of 3 instead of 5 stars.

Saturday 16 Nov 2019. My daughter, a friend and myself took my 2 granddaughters and 4 of their friends to visit your Museum as they are studying the Holocaust in school. I knew they had grasped the meaning of it all as I saw tears fill their eyes. We stopped by your gift shop where books, pens and other things were purchased. Later we discussed what they had seen in which they said "We need places like this so noone forgets so it never happens again. Thank you so much for letting these children have this moving experience. I explained to them though that not all Germans were Nazis and then we discussed Shindler, and Irena Sendler. Thank you and the staff for everything and the experience that my granddaughters and their friends will long remember.

Take the time to stop and see this wonderful arrangement dedicated to all of the victims and survivors. You will leave with and eerie calm and knot in your stomach. So beautifully done, every afflicted person of the Holocaust would be moved to know that their demise may lead to understanding of differences in future generations. A MUST SEE!

It reminded me the Bible I cherish was bought with a price once again. We who call CHRIST LORD, are grafted in to the Hebrew roots of Messiah. Bigotry has no place anywhere, anytime. It will happen again.
