During my visit, the area was well maintained. I went there to photograph the sunrise πŸŒ„. The morning was cold and the lake was filled with lots of many ducks and bird related species. In addition, people were already set in place around the lake and getting their fishing gear ready for the tournament. When the sun began to rise, other persons joined the competition with their small paddle boats. Overall, I left very pleased. I didn't catch any fish, but I did get lots of beautiful compositions.

It’s okay. It’s the only body of water in El Paso besides the Rio Grande. But.. the surrounding area is trash. Just stare at the water, don’t look up.

Great hang out spot for picnic, fishing, bicycle riding.... There's a 2$ charge for parking before u entered, strongly suggest to bring cash. Lots of space, nice walk, u can pay inside the park for kayaking, bicycle riding.

park opens at 5:30 summer and winter it 6:30. closes at 9:00pm Nicely stocked lake with blue and channel catfish ,largemouth bass , rainbow and brown trout (Winter)and several species of panfish. A good fishing spot with the rite bait at the correct time of day! However, don’t forget your tx state fishing license. 17 and under fish for free! A Nice walking track around the lake My phone shows 6,000 steps to walk around lake. Monday through Thursday it’s free to enter Ascarate park. Friday it’s $2.00 holidays it’s $5.00. Special events it’s $5.00. Ascarate park encompasses 400 acres the lake surface area is 43 acres. 18 hole golf course. Sunsets can be stunning with the Franklin mountains looming in the distance. Lots of local birds,Canadian geese, ducks, mallards, coots. Insects, dragonflies and bees along with all the others you would find in a healthy aquatic habitat. Restrooms and port-a-johns are located throughout the park.

Good fishing lake had really improved big time. This has become the perfect spot to fish and relax. Great job County of El Paso. A little tip from a frequent fisherman and visitor. SO COUNTY should stock the middle ponds with sun perch and chad for the little kids to e joy the experience to. Proud to be a resident of the AscArate community and loving the way you all are making the fishing experience fun.

Probably the only go-to place in the middle of El Paso if you are looking for a body of water. It is man-made but still very nice to visit. Families come to fish, enjoy paddle boats, barbecue pavilion/tables, golf course and a community pool. There's a track around the manmade lake to walk around. Plenty of parking and lights display during the holidays.

While the fishing wasn't too good (no bites), the kids and dog enjoyed running around and using the playground. It was also very clean and well kept. Would come back again, but not for fishing.

The park is very good. Has a lot of grill places and sport courts. The lake and the ducks are beautiful. The playground could be better.

One of the best parks in El Paso! So much to do. The park has baseball/softball fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, handball courts, walking/biking paths, golf course with driving range, swimming pool, picnic areas, playgrounds, and a big beautiful lake! You can fish all year round as long as you have your fishing license. You can also take a kayak, paddle boat, canoe, row boat, or a boat with electric motor onto the lake at no cost! The lake itself is clear and pretty clean. The lake has trout, largemouth bass, black bass, cat fish, and sunfish species. Many types of birds frequent the lake. Ascarate park is a beautiful place to take your family, friends, loved ones, or yourself for a drive or spend the whole day. It's free to enter during the week and $2 on weekends.

Great place to hang out anytime of the day. The lake is clean and clear. Nice to go with the family, friends, loved one or solo. You can also bring your kayak or boat using a trolley motor
