Great restaurant in Oakland’s Chinatown serving up unique hand-pulled noodle and other tasty dishes! I’d recommend ordering family-style and trying at least the Sesame Paste Noodles and Eggplant! They were very busy even at 8pm on Tuesday so order takeout or get there early for a table.

The hand-pulled noodles where thiiiiick and the flavor was definitely in every bite. We were seated pretty quickly even though it was a busy Tuesday night. Our order was taken pretty fast and the food came out within a few minutes. They had vinegar, soy sauce, and chilli oil at the table. You wont be disappointed.

It's not the best, but reasonably priced and big portions. Noodle is fresh, they make them there, but not as delicious. Keep in mind that you need to add salt/soy sauce. Sizzling beef and scallop was meh. Overpowered by a specific spice (not sure what) and it was too saucy as I was expecting it to be cooked like fajita. Instead, they brought a very hot plate and poured the cooked dish into it. For the price and portion, quality was OK.

Shan dong represents an excellent combo of taste and value -- they have fantastic food for a good price, and you'll have a great experience while you're here. I won't take up too much time going through the specifics, but I'll recommend going with a good size group, and ordering a bunch of dishes, so you can share them family-style and really get to experience a lot of different varieties. When I stopped by Shan dong with a group of 7 friends, we ordered a number of different dishes, had plenty to eat (and even some extras at the end), and all told, I believe we spent less than $25 each. The hand pulled noodles are a must have -- Shan dong does a great job with them! Overall, highly recommend Shan dong, it's absolutely worth a try!

Watching noodles be made at the window is amazing. Sitting down with a big group and ordering about 10 parts of food is the way to do it. Human chicken, noodles, fried rice, dumplings.

Delicious spicy combo noodle soup and Shan dong dumplings! My car window got broken down the street from the restaurant though so take a bus or Uber here if you have out of state plates.

Be prepared to wait in line (the place is small and popular for all the right reasons), but the wait is worth it, so get there early (and not too hungry). Here you can enjoy traditional and authentic Chinese food, you can see how they are making it from scratch, the staff is amiable, and you will not feel at any time that you are being "rushed" to finish your meal. Extra point (at least for me): your clothes will not smell like food when leaving the place. There isn't a dish you cannot enjoy, so follow your instinct and ask for what you most want that day. This time I enjoyed every bite of my dumplings.

I’ve eaten here before, and it’s very good for noodles and dumplings. But I have to warn against ordering the mapo tofu here. It’s one of my favorite dishes and have eaten many delicious variations. Some are better than others, of course. This was, by far, the most disappointing version I’ve ever eaten. It was nothing like the spicy, numbing, umami-rich dish I thought I was ordering. Instead, it had canned carrots and peas and tasted mostly of soy sauce and peppers — though not the Sichuan peppers one expects. I don’t know the last time I left behind a full entirely uneaten portion of a dish, especially one I typically love, but it was inedible. It looks okay in pictures, but the flavor is very far from what anyone who loves mapo tofu would expect. Such a waste.

Really bad experience! Shandong in China is famous for its handmade noodle dishes, so we ordered two regular noodle dishes, beef tomato and dandan noodles. I never expected that they got me this beef tomato noodle with fresh cut tomato in “water” soup instead of the real beef+tomato stew soup. And the dandan noodle is not dandan noodle at all. The handmade noodles are very thick and still raw inside. I only gave comments on noodles here, idk how other dishes taste like, but don’t order noodles dishes there!

So we found this place on accident as we were wanting to eat dim sum close by. However glad we ate here! We were seated immediately and saw the accolades this place has for the awesome dumplings, noodles and beef dishes! Will definitely return again!

Man! The hand made noodles. Wow! A must each and err-time I hit the bay. THE NOODLES! Add them to any meal and enjoy. Gave the low star service, not as a negative, but because they’re always busy and theres no time to be waited on hand and foot. They’re making magic, relax!

A small but lovely restaurant. Staff and service is great. Food is greater..really good..=) It's best to reserve your table on Yelp coz lines could get long especially at dinner time. We ordered Lotus chicken, salt and pepper porkchops and crab and corn soup. Very delicious.

This place was poppin’ on a random Tuesday evening. Quickly realized why: the food was great and the service was your typical Chinese restaurant style. Highly recommend their deluxe fried rice and version of honey walnut shrimp!

This is one of The Bay Area's Top Chinese Restaurants(in my opinion) I've never been to in the BayArea hands down period. All I can say is it's a must try experience. Meaning in my opinion it's that good. . . Don't be fooled by the size of the Restaurants the service is on point as well is the food. 🙏🏾😋😋

Handmade noodles: we got the sesame paste and spicy seafood. The sesame was super flavorful compared to the seafood option. The noodles were way too thick for my preference. Parking was a nightmare, but you can't expect too much in Chinatown Not much seating, but once again it is Chinatown Overall tasty but not worth the trouble of parking. I wouldn't crave to be back.

The best Chinese restaurant in town 🙌🏽 amazing food, everything you lrder here will be delicious. Their staff is super warm and helpful, they'll anticipate any need you might have - they're way ahead in the game. Anything with their homemade noodles will be amazing. The broccoli was also yummy.

Went for lunch and ordered the shan dong dumplings and noodles with meat sauce. The service was very fast. The dumplings were really good. The hand made noodles were great too. Wasn't a fan of the meat sauce because was expecting savory but it was a little too sweet.

Ordered Chicken Sweet Sour and rice. The quality of the chicken was good, but the sweet sour sauce was awful. It tasted artificial from the coloring used. Not only does it cause cancer, but it also affects the flaovor.

This is a great Chinese Restaurant. Noodles are fantastic and so are the dumplings. Very friendly staff and service is prompt. There are days and times where you may see long lines out front, so be prepared to order take out.

The best food, so fresh, so quick just incredible gem on this street. It's a whole experience. My chow mein noodles were made by hand and the dumplings were 100!!!! I highly recommend to anyone

The BEST giant, fat, chewy, hand-pulled noodles. I'd give these noodles ten stars if I could. Their other food is really good too, don't worry. I've never eaten inside the place so I can't speak to that. I just know I always want to take these noodles somewhere quiet nearby and be alone with them.

An absolute staple of Oakland Chinatown. Any of the dishes with the hand-pulled noodles are a must try. Best to go with a group and order a bunch of things to try. I love their dumplings and green beans too. It can definitely get busy during peak lunch and dinner times, but it’s busy for a reason. You can always order takeout too!

Food is fresh, but too salty, need to reduce the amount of salt put in, and then i think the food will taste better

Come to Panda Shan Dong Non-Express for some weirdly sweet and saucy American Chinese food with a long line 🐸 We ordered three things, one was the highly recommended (online) sesame paste handmade noodles. I asked the waitress serving us which handmade noodles dish she recommended and I think she shook her head at everything except the sesame paste noodles 🥴. 5/5 on service for the honesty 😌. The sesame paste noodles and sizzling plate dish were drowned in overly sweet sauce 🤢. The green beans were not drowning in sauce or sugar and were decent, but I would've liked them more if they were more limp. This is definitely not the best Chinese food in the area as the online masses seem to opine although it's pretty good for American Chinese food. You can also tell because the chinese grannies are somewhere else for tastier pastures
