I had originally booked a room for a birthday party for a weekend. The Wednesday prior to my stay, I lost my niece and called to cancel my reservation. We had paid in full from the beginning so I was not guaranteed my money back, so I understood that from the get-go, however, they were going to pass on that I had a lost a family member so a refund was possible. I had asked if I could received a phone call if they declined my refund. Come Monday, I never heard anything but realized that I got charged a $147 fee so I called and asked why, they told me to call back the next day and ask for Tabitha who is the Assistant General Manager. I called back on Tuesday and asked for Tabitha, got told she was in meetings but would pass along my information for her to call back. Never received a call back. Called again Wednesday, no return. Thursday morning I called and said I needed to speak to Tabitha, yet again, she was in meetings. I said when she is out of meetings she needs to call me back because I want to get this taken care of. I received a call back but not from her, it was from the front desk saying that my refund was denied due to paying in full so there was nothing they could do. I asked about the $147 fee and why I was charged, front desk placed me on hold so I could speak to Tabitha. Front desk came back and said they would refund the $147, because that was a no show fee. Why did I get charged a no show fee when I called to cancel my room? But again, I couldn't speak to Tabitha, just the front desk. Absolutely UNPROFESSIONAL to send the front desk people to do YOUR job. If I could give zero stars, I absolutely would.

This property is in dire need of maintenance. Our room had mold in the shower, torn curtains, dirty walls and the pool is broken. There are cigarette butts outside the property at every door and weeds up to your waist. We have stayed here in the past and I’ve been very pleased with this visit was a disaster. I had called ahead and specifically requested the first floor room. I was told there was only one and the woman on the phone guaranteed she would hold it for us. When we arrived the room had been given away. Additionally, they did not tell us at check-in that we need to request housekeeping and after two days I went down to request fresh towels and was told I had to fill out a form and wait 24 hours. This information should’ve been shared at check-in.

The manager is abrasive. Makes the place look bad. Housekeeping was excellent

First Impression: What is that odor? The foyer/check-in area smelled like diesel or oil. Not pleasant. Got in the elevator and it too stank. Got in my room, and it had the worse smell! The carpet was awful and fouled the room. I don't think a deep clean would eliminate the rank odor. (Half a bottle of travel Febreze did not mask the smell.) Employees must be nose blind. It's time to put some money back into the hotel and make some basic improvements, e.g., new carpets. The bench was wobbly and had someone used it as a seat, they would have crashed to the floor. The room looked like it was hurriedly prepared by a child. The pillows were haphazardly tossed on the beds and the towels were sloppily folded. Small potatoes, admittedly, but it did not instill confidence in the cleanliness of the room (coupled with the foul smell). On a positive note, staff was friendly and professional. Breakfast was typical Hampton fare.

Very disappointed with this hotel. The pool was closed and when we realized it 5 minutes after we checked in, they were unsure if we could get a refund if we went to another hotel. The rooms need work: holes in the carpet, bird poo on the window. There were mouse traps at the end of hallways and in the dining area. We stay at Hilton hotels often and we have never been as disappointed as we were with this stay. Hopefully they are able to make changes soon.

Booked this motel while in town for my mother's funeral, knowing it was 'newer,' and was pet friendly. The room was nice enough if a bit worn. The landscaping was attractive but filled with weeds and several dead bushes. The room appeared clean, but there was a piece of candy on the floor. The freezer compartment of the fridge was solidly frozen with thick ice and its door was broken off so it couldn't be used. The pool has apparently been closed for a few months, yet the website continues to show that they have an indoor pool. (No hot tub, also disappointing.) While this deception is irritating, the most troubling thing was that almost a day earlier, an order had been issued by the city not to use the water without boiling it due to possible bacterial contamination, but the staff chose to hide this information from guests checking in. We only found out by visiting a restaurant next door which had been closed due to the boil water order. Meanwhile I had drunk water from the tap, showered, brushed my teeth, used ice from the machine . . . it remains to be seen whether I will be sickened from consuming bacteria. Some members of our party complained, after which they finally posted a flyer at the desk. The flagrant disregard for customer health and safety is unacceptable in this time when public health is already under assault.

Save your money and don't stay in this dump! The room walls are marked up and stained, the drapes were torn and the bathroom was filthy. There was rodent poison in the hallway by the exit door and the building had a musty smell. We would have left but I called the other hotels in the area and there were no other rooms available. I went to the front desk to talk about the poor condition of the room and the worker told me the whole hotel was in bad shape and hopefully corporate will be fixing it. I was so disgusted with the condition that I took pictures and sent them and an email to the corporate office. I don't like that a company charges outrageous prices for a run down property and rips off the consumer

By far the worst Hilton or Hampton that I've ever stayed at. My stay was always poor here. Rooms are not cleaned properly. Always noise in the hallways early with cleaning etc..They have the worst Manager I've ever seen in a business environment. I could go on and on. For the entire year I've been coming here pool is closed. Hot tub closed due to parts to permanently closed. Just safe to say you will not enjoy your stay!!

Hotel is aging and competition has a new hotel next door. Parking is good and has handicap spots. Time for this location to do an extensive remodel.

This was the dirtiest and grimiest Hampton I have ever stayed at. There is clearly a bug problem as I had to move rooms due to having at least thirty flies flying around the room. This was late at night and very inconvenient. The room I moved to also had flies, broken and stained curtains and stained bedding. Also bugs in the shower drain. Staff were pleasant but not very apologetic which made me feel these issues are commonplace.

A bit run down, even for a Hampton. Room smelled very strongly of cigarette smoke (despite being a non-smoking room) and the bathroom had water damage throughout. Baseboards around the shower were rotted and black, with a few small insects living in the cracks. Sure it's an older non-renovated property, but the level of wear and grime was more on par with a roadside motel, not a Hilton branded property.

Hard to be loyal to this chain when they are not being loyal to the customer. This hotel needs a massive update, needs better attention to detail in room cleanliness and functionality of room fixtures. Not sure I'll stay here again or not.

The hotel is pretty nice, but the staff made it one of the best hotel stays I have ever had. Martin and a gentlemen with longer hair over night at the front, and Amanda the housekeeper stood out in particular as all-stars. Thank you!

Traveled for work. Have stayed here several times before and will again. Hotel is nice, near a few restaurants and a couple of grocery stores. Has a workout room and a pool. They must have had some turnover because breakfast one morning was pretty sparse, but the staff is always welcoming and nice.

I’ve never had a bad experience at a Hampton. Never ever. Always clean and newish. It was more expensive than it used to be, but most things are.

Shower door was broken, mold in shower, USB station broken and vanity light burned out. Definetly not my typical Hampton Inn visit and I usually only stay in Hilton properties. Front desk person on check out shrugged her shoulders and never looked up when I let them know of the issues. On a positive note the lobby was clean and parking well lit

Rooms and general areas are starting to look old and worn, property badly in need of a remodel. Staff were very helpful and tried to overcome poor facility's. The pool has been closed for a year, too bad no one available in southeast Iowa qualified to work on it.

Room was dirty and dated. Lamp shades were cracked and garbage was stuck on the side of the refrigerator. Stayed here on work and I don’t recommend this hotel.

I was expecting less given some reviews, but what a friendly staff! Comfortable beds with pillows I tried to purchase on site after having a great night of sleep (no luck there😩 will have to try to find where the bought them!). Rooms are a bit dated…paint was chipped and the sheers were ripped, but otherwise, a very pleasant room. Breakfast offered quick items as well as options for a leisurely breakfast. Will return!

For a Hampton, it's average. The welcome is fine, rooms are ok, but in need of maintenance. Need to join the 21st century with Hampton and get remote check-in and keys going. For a Hampton, it's average.

From the time we walked in, to the time we left, the service was above satisfactory! Great location (next to a Hy-Vee grocery & gas), easy access to highway.

95 degree day in Iowa. Room air conditioning not working. Shower floor dirty mess. Rotten orange in fruit bowl. Will not go back.

Very quiet. Clean rooms. Close to big box store. Scheduled wake up call did not come thru.

The comfort and cleanliness was excellent. The bed and pillows were perfect! We will be returning to this hotel for future stays.

Just OK; the beds were so unsupportive they were like hammocks. The price tag ($235 per night for one room) is the main gripe. We're diamond members and travel for a living so we are in Hampton Inn and Suites all across the USA. This was one of the worst for value. We've stayed in ones that were $120 per night that were much more comfortable than this one. I'd avoid returning. I will say it was clean and the desk had a person at it whenever we had a question, so those are postitives.

As a Diamond member, I made this reservation for my daughter, who is 18. I called ahead to check in and let them know she would be staying and was 18. Everything was fine at 1pm day of. My daughter came to check in at 10pm and was denied entry because of her age. The front desk called the GM and he upheld the decision to deny her entry. I was forced to call around and make her drive 40 minutes to stay at a different hotel chain (where we are not members and never stay). She was able to check in under her own name without any issues at all. Not at all what I've come to expect from Hilton literally everywhere else. Will never be booking here again.

Good normal service for Hampton Inn. Rooms were standard and a little dated but big enough and clean. Didn't have any of the aforementioned issues (WiFi, slow elevator or lack of Ice) all of that as good. Pool still closed though just FYI Staff was very friendly

The best customer service I have ever had! Michelle went over and beyond to help me. So personable. Absolutely spotless, and so tasteful. Gorgeous bed and everything you need. I stay here everytime I'm in town. I've never had such a nice room at such a great price. I recommend 100%! Love this Hampton Inn on Quincy Drive. Indoor pool and a nice hot breakfast in am. Free.

If you want to feel at home while traveling, look no further than the Hampton Inn in Ottumwa, IA. The staff is the best. Highly recommend this location whether traveling for business or pleasure.
