A lot of sand. too much sand
The off-leash dog area at Spanish Banks is a fantastic spot for both dogs and their humans. The wide, sandy beach gives dogs plenty of space to run, play, and swim in the ocean. The stunning views of the mountains and city skyline add to the experience, making it just as enjoyable for people as it is for pups. The area is clean, well-maintained, and has clear signage to ensure a safe environment for everyone. It’s the perfect place to let your dog roam free while you soak in the beauty of Vancouver’s coastline.
We came from Richmond and it was totally worth it! Beautiful spot with lots of friendly dogs and people
Love, love, love it! But pretty sure my furry four-legged buddy loves it even more! (Be sure that you end up at the Off Leash Beach though, as Google first took me to the part of Spanish Beach with Volleyball nets, etc, that prohibits dogs!). What a great place to allow both dog and owner to enjoy the beauty of nature, surrounded by beach, ocean and very large grassy areas. Wish I would have found this place sooner! If you have a dog with some energy to burn and would like a visit with some really great people yourself, I highly recommend heading to Spanish Banks Off Leash Park:)
This is a great place to take your pups off leash. Especially at low tide . The views of the ships in the bay and the mountains in the background are just INCREDIBLE. THE BEACH GOES ON AND ON SO YOU AND YOUR PUPS CAN ENJOY THE PLACE FOR A LONG TIME.
Dogs are not allowed on that beach . That’s so sad
Parking was non existent, but we were persistent and eventually got a spot way up the road. The beach itself is a great spot for dogs...my dog had so much fun running into the water. We will definitely go back on a weekday rather than a weekend...hopefully parking won't be so bad.
Good place specifically for the dogs. They will have a lot of fun and they will get super wet in the beach area. If you come early you can get a picnic table and have a nice day with your furry friend. I don't recommend coming on a cloudy day since it's too windy.
Lots of families with their dogs. Most dogs are well-behaved. Beach has lots of bits of wood in the sand and, of course, some dog poop, so be a little cautious when walking. Wonderful area to bring your dog, throw a ball, and let them swim. Plus, it's an amazing place to watch the sunset 😍 Effective mid-July 2024 they will start charging for parking. Not impressed at all with that decision.
Gliding along the scenic route home, the beauty of Spanish Banks unfolds as a haven for dogs and their human companions. Off-leash fun abounds as the sun sets over the picturesque shoreline, a kaleidoscope of laughter and wagging tails. Cycling through nature's splendor, the day ends on a perfect note.
My dog loves this off-leash dog beach 🐕🦺🐕🥰. He gets anxious just smelling we are getting closer and will run to the beach as soon as we arrive. On sunny days you will find many dog owners and dogs just being happy being there. You will see dogs playing with other dogs or fetching sticks from the water. It is just a heart-warming, happy feeling 🫶. When the tide is low it is possible to walk a kilometer or so on the seafloor. The water is usually cold but on sunny days it is cool and you can see people getting in the water with their dogs. There are some trees where you can lay down under a shadow and logs in case you do not want to sit on the sand. The beach is sandy but there is gravel just before getting in the water and for a couple meters in the water. There are some honey buckets within walking distance. Overall it is very nice 👍
Great place to view the aurora borealis over downtown Vancouver!
Fun dogs but muddy when it’s rainy.
I'd say it's the best place for your dog to run free, and have fun to play with some water. I see many happy dogs chasing around. Also, It's a beautiful sight of seeing mountains and downtown landscape of Vancouver at the beach. There are benches, tables, and parking lots. Well maintained environment.
Spanish Banks are iconic. Views are stellar and the beach seems to go on and on. Love walking the seawall.
