A must-see when visiting Capetown. The views of the city are unbeatable. The process to get up and back down with the cable cart is very smooth, recommend buying tickets in advance. On the top, there is a restaurant and you're able to buy some snacks, but you can also bring up your own. For the nature loves this place is quite epsctuacluar, you can choose to hike up the mountain or hike once you're onto.

Table Mountain is the most iconic mountain on earth and for good reason. It is breathtaking! It is the first recognizable thing you see from the plane and it sent shivers down my spine. What a beautiful city! What a historic town! It was overwhelming in the best way. The journey up the mountain was smooth and seamless and fun as you passed by the other cable car. Amazing flora and fauna met you on the mountain as did the most extraordinary milktart I had in CT (I tried about 7 from different places). I enjoyed seeing the different cable cars they had over the years and seeing its progression. The workers are really nice and warm and the service was excellent. I subsequently went up the mountain a couple of times because those views… it just cant be beat!

Over many times I had been here, this time I decided to go for a hike and it was 7km and took 2 hours 20 min. Was worth every single moment of it and part of the hike was quite intense in terms of elevation. Total 800 meters elevation to reach 1006m to the top. I went solo with a bottle of water and met many hikers up and down the trail. You can't miss your way up. I would do it again for sure

Absolutely georgous! Make sure to take the cable car! And give yourself enough time because the line can be long! You can also pay the extra fee for the FasTrack which I think is worth it! White you are up, make time to take the walking tour and explore some of the sites on the mountain top! Grab a drink or a meal from the restaurant and enjoy the sea and mountain views!! End with a gift from the gift shop and some photo souvenirs!

If you come to Cape Town is a must to spend one day here, beautiful surroundings with a view of the sea and different beaches. Opportunity to see baboons in their natural habitat. Better to go in Spring so you don’t have the sun burning but either way there’s no many people in the months of February March.

We visit on Wednesdays and always a pleasure on any given day. Perfect for picnics. Bring your picnic basket and blanket and listen to the birds at the same time. So relaxing for young and old. Restaurant services available inside or out. There are two restaurants and both enjoyable.

My day at Table Mountain, South Africa was nothing short of spectacular! The panoramic views from the top were breathtaking, offering a unique perspective of Cape Town's beauty. The cable car ride was thrilling, adding to the overall adventure. The trails were well-marked and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. This is a must-visit for anyone seeking a blend of nature and adventure. Don't forget to bring your camera for some amazing shots! Truly, an unforgettable experience.

This was an extremely amazing hike. We used the Platteklip Gorge route and it was instantly beautiful. The paths are very clear for anyone to hike alone or with a group and even child friendly. You can also hike with your pet. The scenery is very beautiful, it has flours, indigenous plants and small water springs along the way which is very beautiful and if you run out of water you can get fresh running water that tastes amazing. The route was challenging for a beginner but definitely worth the experience especially when you get to the top. I advise hiking with a group of friends your first time around so you can motivate each other others it's a nice hike especially if you wake up early so that you don't get too much of the sun while going up rather when you are nearing the top and coming down. I recommend this hike and will probably do it again. I will attach pictures.

Table Mountain National Park- part (>70%) of Cape Peninsula Protected Natural Environment (CPPNE). Table Mountain; Cape of Good Hope; Boulders, Signal Hill and Lion´s Head, the beaches, etc. Invest some days or a week to explore all the attractions this parks offers. It`s absolutely worth all the effort and trouble.

Table Mountain National Park, previously known as the Cape Peninsula National Park, is a national park in Cape Town, South Africa, proclaimed on 29 May 1998, for the purpose of protecting the natural environment of the Table Mountain Chain, and in particular the rare fynbos vegetation. The park is managed by South African National Parks. The property is included as part of the UNESCO Cape Floral Region World Heritage Site. The park contains two well-known landmarks: Table Mountain, for which the park is named; and the Cape of Good Hope, the most southwestern extremity of Africa. Arguments for a national park on the Cape Peninsula, centred on Table Mountain, began in earnest in the mid-1930s. The Table Mountain Preservation Board was set up in 1952, and in 1957 its recommendation to the National Monuments Board was accepted and Table Mountain was declared a national monument. In the mid 1960s, the Cape Town City Council declared nature reserves on Table Mountain, Lion's Head, Signal Hill, and Silvermine. Following high fire incidence in the 1970s, Douglas Hey was appointed to assess the ecological state of Table Mountain and the southern Peninsula, and he recommended (1978) that all the Peninsula's mountains above 152m should be conserved. This laid the foundations for the Cape Peninsula Protected Natural Environment (CPPNE) area, finally established in 1989. However, environmental management was still bedeviled by the fragmented nature of land ownership on the Peninsula. Following a big fire above the city bowl in 1991, Attorney General Frank Kahn was appointed to reach consensus on a plan for rationalising management of the CPPNE. In 1995, Prof. Brian Huntley recommended that SANParks be appointed to manage the CPPNE, with an agreement signed in April 1998 to transfer around 39,500 acres to SANParks. On 29 May 1998, then-president Nelson Mandela proclaimed the Cape Peninsula National Park. The park was later renamed to the Table Mountain National Park. The park runs approximately north-south along the range of mountains that make up the mountainous spine of the Cape Peninsula, from Signal Hill in the north, through Lion's Head, Table Mountain, Constantiaberg, Silvermine, the mountains of the southern Peninsula, terminating at Cape Point. The park is not a single contiguous area; the undeveloped mountainous areas which make up most of the park are separated by developed urban areas on the shallower terrain. Thus the park is divided into three separate sections, as listed below. This section covers Signal Hill, Lion's Head, Table Mountain proper, including the Back Table (the rear, lower part of the mountain), Devil's Peak, the Twelve Apostles (actually a series of seventeen peaks along the Atlantic seaboard), and Orange Kloof (a specially protected area not open to the public). It borders on central Cape Town in the north, Camps Bay and the Atlantic coast in the west, the Southern Suburbs in the east, and Hout Bay in the south. This section was formed from the Table Mountain National Monument, Cecilia Park, and Newlands Forest. Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden is not officially part of the national park, but its higher reaches are maintained as part of the park.

Great experience to have made it to the top of Table Mountain after hiking up. Was worth all the sweat, luckily no tears. Nice weather and good energy that it gives to be so high on the mountain. Nice to do it alone or with a group. Pack in some water and fruits as you will definitely need the boost. To anyone looking to go, start packing and head om over already.

Stunning park with the mist beautiful scenic views, all the way from the light house down to the sea.... There is a restaurant where you can do take away or sit-down meals, and there are clean bathrooms. Be sure to arrive early, else you will need to get onto the long queue at the gate... but still all worth it

Took a little sho't left. Bit of litter which looks like it was thrown from passing vehicles. Other than the obvious cars passing, very quiet area where you can hear all of nature. The trees are absolutely beautiful. Will definitely be back again

A must do for a proper Cape Tonian experience. People of all ages can climb this spectacular mountain and enjoy the 360 view it has to offer. Bear in mind ro take it slow if not top fit. Also take a back pack to snack and enough to drink. Can take the cable car up or down if preferred a one way trip.

Wow! If you go to Cape Town you have to go to top of Table Mountain. I went by the cable car which has a rotating floor providing different views as it moves up and down! Fabulous views and walking paths around the top! I spent an hour and a half hiking around and one could easily spend more time at the top or hike up or down. I wasn’t hungry but cafe at top serves delicious looking pizza, hamburgers, French fries and other items as well as water, soda and local beers!

This natural asset needs to be better preserved. As its a world heritage site and Table Mountain being one of the 7 Wonders of the World I expected better controls. In my estimation there were too many people on the mountain at the same time. When our group of 48 people hiked to the top we were disappointed to find 1)ablutions locked 2)shop closed 3)cable-car staff had packed up and gone home. It was 12 a.m on a Sunday with a slight breeze. Cable car doesn't operate in winds exceeding 35 knots, it was nowhere near that. 2-300 people had to make a plan to hike down the mountain and it was obvious many were ill equipped to do so. Just our groups cablecar ticket refund was over R9000. Apart from revenue loss its terrible for tourism . Visitors had to climb barriers to 'ablute' in the protected fynbos vegetation, leaving all sorts of waste in a conservation area. The natural aspect of the mountain is awesomely beautiful. Fantastic hiking, precious flowers such as orchids and unparalleled scenery. Definitely worth the hike. The mountainreserve is 5 star, but not the service.

Oh my goodness. I have never died and been to heaven but I can bet my life that Table Mountain is a mini heaven. We were so high up. The cable car ride was as short as it was supposed to be as hiking around the mountain was spectacular. I wish everyone could experience it. I took so many pictures and still I'm in awe

It’s definitely worth to be included in the 7 nature wonders in the world. I wish I had time to do hiking but I took the cable car ride which is equally worth it for the views. This is a top and must go place in Cape Town. Just make sure it’s a bright and sunny day with no clouds.

I had a very great experience in this place. It was my first experience using a cable car going up and down. Well the place is good and nice view from the top view in the whole of Cape Town in one angle from the top. Unfortunately the restaurant up them the top are quite expensive so you need to be prepared to pay. However up there they are public restrooms and benches to sit on if you feel tired.

I visited the Cape of Goodhope Nature Reserve within the Table Mountain National Park on the weekend of 12th and 13th December 2020, entry allowed from 7am to 6pm, entry at the gate was quick and easy, covid protocol strictly enforced, just before the pay booth a team of park employees checked our temperatures and filled our details, name & telephone, we then proceeded to the pay booth settled our bill and through the booms into the reserve. The staff were courteous helpful, efficient and friendly. The reason for our visit was 2 fold, to harvest west coast rock lobster (crayfish) as it was one of the legal season collection days and we wanted to spend the rest of the day enjoying a braai at the Buffelsbaai section. Our crayfish catch was successful ( we dived) and managed to fill our permit quota's both days at the Cape of Goodhope sector. Upon entering the reserve there are a few places one can visit, namely, Olifantsbosch, Platboom, Gifkommetjie, Bordtjiesdrift, Black Rock, Buffelsbaai, and Cape of Good Hope, the latter is where we dived our crayfish. All the places we visited here were prestinely maintained and were all practically on the beach, both the Atlantic and Indian ocean sides, one can visit the further most point and either hike or take a bus to the top where you can see the lighthouse, here you will also find a curio shop, restaurant and rest area. There were Antelope grazing and Ostriches prancing about in many of the sectors, Fynbos is prolific in the park, the braai areas had dirt bins strategically placed, we fortunately did not encounter any unruly baboons but we were informed the park staff were prepared for any incidents. What a beautiful part of South Africa we have the privilege of living in, such natural beauty on our doorstep, I have a tip for all Cape Town local residence, get yourself a Green Card, it costs R175.00 and allows for 12 entries in a year (each entry is clipped, you may enter 3 adults and 3 children on one day). A normal day pass will cost R85.00 per person, so you can see the value in the Green Card. It is only available to Cape Town residence. So if you are looking for things to do in Cape Town visit the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, well worth it.

What a view! You do have to be very lucky with the weather here as if there is too much wind, the cable car doesn't operate, if there is cloud then you don't see anything. I got lucky that there was not a cloud in the sky when i went up, only later you could see the fog from the hills rolling over the peaks in the distance which was actually fascinating to watch and record. The cable car gets very busy so if you can try and avoid the busy times and take into account that everyone wants to go back down when the lifts are about to close so plan some extra time as you don't want to be stuck up there over night or wait for hours to get down. There are good facilities like restaurants, toilets, viewing areas and gift shop at the top of the cable lift. There are a few pathways which have a fine gravel surface meaning good grip for those wet days and comfortable walking. It is a great place to see the city from most angles and also to watch the sun setting. Would definitely go up again if the weather is good and even make it into a day trip and try the hiking track up there instead of the lift. The cable car also has a rotating floor so that everyone gets the perfect picture shot of the city from a height about twice throughout the trip up/down.

I had fun in the cable car ( the music really calms you down). There is a restaurant, and a shop for a souvenir or two. You get a student discount if you have your student card when purchasing your ticket. You need to buy a return ticket if you are not planning on hiking back.

Massive Table Mountain National Park stretches from north of Cape Town down the Cape Peninsula to Africa’s southwestern extremity, the Cape of Good Hope. Iconic, flat-topped Table Mountain is its centerpiece. The mountain’s 1,086m summit affords sweeping views of Cape Town and Table Bay, and is reachable by cableway, bicycle, automobile or on foot. The park is also among the world’s richest floral regions.

So many amazing hikes (and views) around this national park. Chapman's Peak hike from Hout Bay (starting just after day pass ticket checkers) is a great little hike with great views of both Hout Bay and Noordhoek valley when you get closer to the top. Not very busy as most people "do" Chapman's Peak with a car and/or chose to hike other parts of Table Mountain.

Absolutely stunning views of Cape Peninsula! Was finally able to go up after 16 years of living in Cape Town!! Definitely worth it. Gives you a whole different perspective of the city and surrounds. Lots of nice walks to go on once up there. THOROUGHLYY ENJOYED

A must do in cape Town. The views from the top are absolutely incredible. You can either do one of the many hikes or take the cable car up. At the top there is a cafe and place to buy water/sports drinks/sodas/beer and enjoy the view (located by cable car). Make sure you go on a day that isn't too windy. Bring plenty of sunscreen and water I'd you are hiking. Even if it starts out cold it can get hot quickly

Iconic mountain. Stunning views. Hopefully more people will hike up than take the cable car. Much more rewarding experience and not too taxing for unfit hikers.

Amazing place. One of the best experiences in cape town and south Africa. If you can walk up or down, do it. Otherwise the cable car is a good way to see the views. Lovely to walk around on, both with or without the 'table cloth'. Lots of little dassies at the top as well :)

  • 5/5 Ced 4 years ago on Google
Just a wonder !! You can’t visit Cape Town without seeing/hiking this jewel. I highly recommend the hike to go up in order to deserve the view from the top. The views here are precious. The hike is steep but going slowly everyone can make it. Enjoy !

(Translated by Google) Definitely this place deserves to be on the list of must-see in South Africa. Here she is considered a new wonder of the world, which is very reasonable. You can climb both on foot along the track for free (about 2 hours) and on the cable car (300 ZAR, two hours in line). The view from the mountain is breathtaking. But the most gusto will meet the sunset here, when the clouds turn pink.

(Translated by Google) Easy parking above the cable car station, near the boarding point. The ascent for average proficient takes about 2.5 hours, meandering path with stone steps. I recommend the morning ascent, the entire route is in the sun, a minimum of shadows. Rich botanical exposition. Enough water with you! Down by cable car. (Original) Pohodové parkování nad stanicí lanovky, poblíž nastupniho místa pro pěší zdolání. Výstup pro průměrně zdatné trvá cca 2,5 hodiny, klikatící se pěšinou s kamennými stupni. Amazing view of Cape Town and excellent facilities. The toilets are clean and eco friendly. Their WiFi lounge uses compostable plates and cutlery. Kiosks are not too pricey. I would recommend bringing a warm jacket and comfortable shoes as the weather can always take a turn. Friendly staff that are willing to explain things. Very wheelchair accessible routes and facilities. Would definitely advise coming early in the morning as Table Mountain is every tourist's destination!

So of course when your in Cape Town, on the top of your list for things to see and do is Table Mountain National Park! There is a couple of ways to go up to Table Mountain, to hike it or to go up the Cable way! We did not have a lot of time so had to take the Cable way, the view up is just beautiful. To she how you rise above Cape Town.. When you get at the top, make time to walk around. There is a lot to see, read and smell! It honestly is so worth it when the sky is clear and you are up there! We could not stop staying WOW! Need to experience this at least once in your life!

  • 5/5 Mpumelelo N. 2 years ago on Google
Breathtaking views! I unfortunately came when it was cloudy, so I couldn’t really see Cape Town from below, but that just gives me an excuse to return again someday! (Which is definitely worth it!)

  • 5/5 KS N. 2 years ago on Google
Needed to take the cable car up and down or hike up and down. We went up on a cloudy day. It started to rain when were up. Last czble car down is 5pm, which felt too early. The view from up is simply amazing

A must-visit landmark when visiting Cape Town. Spectacular views from the top over the city and the surrounding areas. We absolutely loved it. You can hike up there or take a cable car. We did the latter which was a great experience in itself.

  • 5/5 Tony S. 1 year ago on Google
Absolutely brilliant 🤩 Just a wonder of the world that has to be seen. Plenty to see and perhaps sit and enjoy and soak it all in what’s actually around you. Going up the cable car is safe and comfortable, not scary at all as it is so quick x must go please everyone x

  • 5/5 Angel W. 1 year ago on Google
STUNNING! We did the "easiest" hike up- was not easy for me at all 😭😅, but was absolutely worth it at the top. Will definitely return in future ♥️😍 the stores and cable carts run proper 👌🏽 👍🏽

  • 5/5 Malcolm G. 1 year ago on Google
The mountain was kept very clean and tidy. The view from the top is spectacular. My grandchildren just loved the cable car experience. Very disappointed in the quality of the Restaurant food. Prices is a rip off. Ordinary South Africans cant afford these prices.

A wholesome morning spent at Table Mountain. Went hiking up the mountain. Took us 3 hours to get to the top. It was like climbing up really steep stairs continuously from start to finish. It was amazing when we finally made it! The views as you climb up and when you get to the top are breathtaking!! It's best to go on a day where there will be clear skies. We then had lunch at the eatery there. We took the cableway back down and it awesome! Definitely will be going back some time in the near future.

  • 5/5 Susan N. 8 months ago on Google
It was an amaizing experience...took a cable car to and from the top! The view of Capetown from Table Mountain is so beautiful...we were lucky to experience all four seasons including snow😊 I think it is the coldest season now🙃 so if you are planning to go to the top...put on some warm clothes you'll need them! The coffee shop and restaurant had varieties of food and beverages...we had some shots of Black Label to warm our bodies🤣 It was worth it!

  • 5/5 Rosalie C. 6 months ago on Google
Cable mountain is truly breathtaking. The way it can be seen at any given moment, anywhere in Cape town makes it an iconic landmark. The views looking up at table mountain from the ground are almost equally beautiful to the views you get looking down from table mountain onto the city beneath.

Table Mountain is an absolute gem of natural wonder! From the moment you step foot on its slopes to the breathtaking views from its summit, every moment is filled with awe and beauty. The cable car ride offers a seamless ascent, revealing panoramic vistas of Cape Town and the ocean below. The hiking trails are diverse, catering to all skill levels and providing unforgettable encounters with indigenous flora and fauna. Watching the sunset from Table Mountain is a magical experience that will stay with you forever. A must-visit destination for nature lovers and adventurers alike. Truly deserving of five stars!
