Very disappointed. Ordered burnt ends and chicken plate. Burnt ends were extremely fatty but the meat was really dry and chicken was very dry as well. Beans had a weird flavor like someone added chili seasoning and didn't have a good flavor. Corn fritters, fried okra and coleslaw was tasty. $65 later we will not be going back.

Oh my goodness! I can't say enough about this place.. we've been coming here for years.. never stops surprising me how good the food is.. older western atmosphere.. you MUST eat here at least once.. their bbq pork is juicy..tender.. oh my..its just great! Pick 3 plate.. smoked bbq beef ribs, pork spare ribs, and smoked sausage is what hubby had.. ribs are tender..fall off the bone! Excellent baked plans. Coleslaw.. just good food!

Ordered the beef ribs for lunch and there was absolutely no meat for $16.99. For Texas BBQ, I was expecting way more of the prime rib meat on the bone. They definitely tasted reheated from the day before. The only fresh thing was the fries. I will try again non-COVID and maybe for dinner. For that price point, this should have been a better selection of beef ribs.

This is an old time rustic barbecue served up in decent size portions accompanied by delicious sides. They don’t give enough fries. Prices are a bit high, but they have a decent choice of meats and the sauces are delicious. Both the baked beans and the various versions of fries are great sides. The atmosphere is rustic and worn in (looks a bit run down) as well as the decor, adding to the whole “rustic” eating experience. Our waitress was friendly and so was our order taker / server. Our food was just as ordered, but the sides were a bit small (and bland). The bbq sauce is decent, but they don’t give you enough sauce and the meats are sometimes overcooked or dry. Prices are a little bit high. The Texan is hit or miss when you roll in for some decent comfort food. Just make sure you get enough sauce, if not… the meat seems a bit dry. But the sauces are decent.

Good quality ingredients. I ordered delivery for dinner and everything was delicious.

Not too many quality BBQ places in the area but this one is definitely worth the trip. The burnt ends are wow. The beans and curly fries are also fabulous. I would highly recommend checking this place out if you are in the mood for authentic BBQ.

This was my first time there in over 10 years. I was there on 7-5-20 and the food was fantastic. I went because I checked the reviews before going and they were all great. I live right by the Rib House in Crystal Lake and all there reviews were mostly 1 star people said they will never go there again. the food is dry and seemed to be leftovers from the day before. that's why I went to the Texan and you just received a new customer. my round trip was 17 miles and it was well worth it. i'll be back today! Thank You Texan for such care you take and pride you take in your food because it surely shows the love!

Staff was nice, but took a long time giving me an order. Had to go back to get what I ordered. Don't park near the dumpster because it heats up and smells like roadkill carcass. Would still go here again, what can I say.

Food was good, but it doesn't matter if you order ahead. You can order in advance and give them a pickup time for several hours later, and they'll still make you wait a full hour. What's the point of calling ahead? 🤷

And yes I said party not one of these bizarre outdoor social distance mask offs! An actual in home family holiday get together like it should be on a hallowed day.

Ordered for curbside pickup and it was delicious! We had the brisket, smoked turkey, baked beans, sweet potato fries, and potato salad and everything was amazing. You can totally tell everything is made completely from scratch and we can't wait to try more stuff. Definitely our new favorite bbq spot, please support our local businesses!!

I have been going here since I was little with my family, my dad went here when he was young and IT IS SO GOOD. Nothing has changed, rib meat FALL OFF THE BONE and is so tender and EXTREMELY JUICEY. My birthday dinner every year. You have to go or order. So worth it.

I came all the way from Joliet and wanted to surprise my boyfriend with some Southern barbecue and bread pudding. The amount of food that you get for the price is minimal and the pork and brisket was dry and flavorless the Corn on the cob was watered down and flavorless also. The peach cobbler had no flavor and the bread pudding was hard and had pieces of dry bread inside. No moisture no sauce and my fork stood up in it, it was that hard. He said now he remembered why he stopped going there. I didn't get my monies worth sadly enough and would not recommend.
