What a cool place! We had such a lovely tour and really enjoyed our time in the cave. We didn't make a reservation so we had to wait 30 minutes for the 12p tour but luckily we were the only guests on it so it was just the two of us and the tour guide. I found it so intriguing that they don't know where the river flows out to but are positive it is completely underground. My fiance said that he enjoyed this cave much more than crystal caves because of the river. Also the gift shop had so many neat AND reasonably priced items.

Great place for a little day trip. We took the kids here and they both had a great time. The cave itself is very pretty and has a good amount of cool stuff to see. The guide was entertaining and knowledgeable. The gift shop was very reasonable with pricing. Parking by the cave is limited but they do have an overflow lot across the street.

I got there early so had a private tour! Perrin was great and told me all the stories and it also gave us more time for me to take photos. Great in any weather, the gift shop is fun too and you can research your personal stone before you get there and treasure hunt for it. Also, the $5 grab bag of dirt is fantastic and a fun activity for kids and those who love stones. They have all needed to wash through the dirt outside in the car park area so you end up with a bag of treasure! Although not precious stones the collection I got seems worth way more to me than the $5 I paid. Safe and easy for anyone as long as they can reach the water about hip height. Plenty of stones for 2 or even 3 children and they could take one handful at a time. I posted some photos. Have fun, I'm off to the fossil pit not too far away with my hammer and chisel now to find some fossils!

Beautiful caverns! It is rather small - the tour is only about 30-45 minutes - which is nice if you are just looking for a short trip, instead of an all day activity. The caverns are amazing formations! We had a wonderful tour guide - very informative and nice. It is definitely "out-of-the-way" and a little "quirky," but sometimes those are the best places!

Very cool place to explore! We had questions which the tour guide Chuck was very happy to answer. Very knowledgeable gift shop staff as well. These folks love their jobs! Great on a hot day because it's about 50 degrees underground. Definitely bring a jacket and wear sneakers/flats. We found a flashlight helpful in some sections of the caves to better see the side caves along the path. Admission and cost of gift shop items are very reasonable. There is also a nature trail accessible via caves parking lot.

Very nice place. If you’re into archaeology, rocks or the outside period then this is for you. The tour guide was very well knowledged and kind. I do not recommend handicapped persons because of the tour not being safe and accessible. You have to step up a lot and go up steps as well as go in tight spots. It’s wet almost everywhere during tour. However, it’s beautiful. It’s kid & family friendly. You pay after the tour. They accept cash, debit/credit card, & Apple Pay. You have access to a gift/souvenir shop. Prices are reasonable & affordable. 2 Parking lots available. I went with my friends and we had a good time. Wonderful experience.

Very nice cave! The tour of the cave was excellent and tour guide explained the history and science of the caves very well. The tour lasted about 45 minutes. Overall, there is about a 1/4 mile of walking on the tour. You are able to take in some nice cave formations and see the "Lost River." The gift shop had reasonable prices and offered a very good selection of rocks, gems, minerals, clothes, and jewelry. They also have a small museum near the gift that displays a various artifacts and knickknacks. They have a small nature trail outside the caverns and also offer "gem mining" for kids. You can book your tour online or call ahead by phone to get a tour. You can also walk in to get a tour, but you might have to wait to get a tour. Prices are reasonable and cheaper than most other nearby caverns. Overall, there may be better caves in Pennsylvania, but this one offers many of the same formations and sites the others do, just in smaller amounts. Definitely, a nice place to visit.

This is a fun cavern, though a bit smaller than some others in nearby states. Many interesting features and informative guides. The walkway is paved with handrails throughout, with one small set of stairs. A few sections of path are a little steep. We've been with a 3 year old with no difficulty. A few low areas so watch your head. Outer whole family enjoyed this cavern.

What an exciting place! I have been to some caverns and this is one of the best. The staff is friendly. The tour guides were knowledgeable. The gift shop has plenty of things that are so Pennsylvania and the Nature Walk comes with some questions along your walk about the cave which is interactive.

Cavern was great! Guide was knowledgeable and gave a great tour. Whole family enjoyed it. The museum/shop had the oddest decor, none of it made sense. There was a giraffe head, a raptor, triceratops, a walrus head, a bunch of deer.... It was weird. The shop also sold odd things that weren't relevant to the cavern. Had an odd old lady smell too.

Tour guides were friendly and knowledgeable. The cave was really cool! Very quirky little gift shop on site, like something out of the past. Cave tour was about 45 minutes. My family and I enjoyed our visit. Would recommend!

It is a small, family owned cavern in Hellertown, PA. We booked tickets online the day prior. We arrived about 20 minutes before our tour time. The staff was very friendly and very sweet with our 3 year old grandson. There are a few things to look at in addition to the actual tour. There is a “museum” inside with various taxidermy animals, rocks, and minerals to view. Outside there is a very easy walk/hike though their property to see the trees. It was great for the 3 year old. The panning was not operational the day we were there (it had been cold the last few day in the evening—so I assume that is why the pump and panning was not operating) there have clean bathrooms available. The tour was very informative and funny as well. No bats or anything inside. You could clearly hear the Lost River running under the cavern. Worth the trip!

A wonderful activity to do with the kids, or even without! The tour was a perfect length with plenty of cool rocks and pins for people of all ages. The best part was talking stones and rocks with the employees in their gift shop. So much patience to help a 7 and 9 year old find their perfect rock.

I've been here a few times. It's a nice place to take friends from out of town. The cavens are nice. The guides are well versed about the Caverns, The Geology, and Local History. The tour is an hour. I especially recommend going in summer. It's cool in the Caverns. If you like local history or geology, you will love it.

This was a fun day trip. We loved the gift shop. The also had a cool gift. So you buy a bag of sand and then you take it to this water contraption Nd you pan for crystals. It was really fun. They have a paths you can take nature walks when your done. It was a nice drive up there. In the cave we were 116ft below surface.

Very accommodating for a larger group, but no discount on a Sunday. Excellent tour guide! The cave had some tight spaces and low hanging rocks, but nothing our group (ages 2-65) couldn't handle. Minimal stairs. A small gift shop and museum with some cool souvenirs.

Our tour guide was awesome, very knowledgeable and the cave is really cool to see. Only eight steps down and the rest is flat. If you walk with a cane you can still do the cave. I would definitely recommend this adventure.

Words can't even describe how beautiful this place is! Absolutely stunning formations. Our tour guide, Adam, cracked us up and entertained the children and adults of the group throughout the entire tour. Small cavern, but worth it. The gift shop is also very very affordable and you can get alot of souvenirs even if you are on a budget. Highly recommend as a fun day trip! Staff is super friendly ❤

My boyfriend and I had a lot of fun. The guide (Adam) was entertaining, and he knew a lot of info. I’m from New York and my bf is from Ontario Canada, so we thought it was pretty ironic that those two rocks happened to be displayed right next to each other lol

We had a wonderful day exploring List River Caverns and spent a great time together as a family while learning about the natural world. The cavern is family-friendly and even little kids have an opportunity to get into speleology and learn about rocks and formations. The tour did not take too long and was interesting, informative, and fun. Our guide Adam was knowledgeable and walked us through the history of the cavern and its geology. We all were amazed by the demonstration of the minerals’ fluorescence. Some tips before you step in: make sure everyone is dressed in warm layers and comfortable shoes with good traction. You may also want to bring a flashlight or headlamp with you. For parents with kids: There is a snack stand inside a souvenir shop but I recommend bringing food with you and having a nice break after your tour at Morris J. Dimmick Park nearby. The playground there is wonderful.

A really great find! We came here as a stop after a trip to the pocono mountains and this is a great historical and geological artifact. Employees were friendly and very informative during the walking tour. Definitely be sure to dress comfortable and warm when in the cavern!

I will not expose too much, of this wonderful geological wonder, but I will say this, the family owned and operated cavern, is magical for anyone of any age. Whether you are a local who has neglected to visit, or just a tourist passing through, I recommend you stop in for the 45 minute tour. The guides are very well versed in the history, and science of the geological majesty that is "Lost River Caverns" so plan a day with the family! Or just come by yourself if you want to experience a simple Pennsylvania wonder. Or even if you just love rocks! All are welcome.

Absolute gem of a local attraction! I hadn't been since I was a kid and had a wonderful time revisiting as an adult. Tour guide was very knowledgable and entertaining to listen to, and the cave itself is pretty amazing, especially for this area! Gift shop was robust and I'll be keeping it in mind if I ever get into lapidary, there were a lot of raw stones and many specialized tools.

Great cave to tour on your way though Pennsylvania. We called about half hour before we were there to make sure they had room. We ended up with a tour guide all to ourselves. Cool cave with water and a great history. Rare Cave Flower formation too! Gift shop had great deals on all kinds of different rocks. Lapidary supply store. We did the mining sluice rock bags in the parking lot. Fun shaded activity and well priced. A+

My friends and I went yesterday, and we had Florence as our guide. Not only was the cavern itself an amazing experience, but Florence made it all the better. They were witty and funny and knew everything there was to know about the place (and even told us what the rocks would feel like, since we couldn’t touch them ourselves). This was truly one of the greatest days my group and I have ever had, and we had such a wonderful experience. AND we found out how a river can get lost!!!

Awesome place! Well worth the visit! Privately own and operated; which I think is really cool. Friendly staff and owners. Go! Do it! Worth it!

It was the wettest cave I’ve ever been to. Little bigger than crystal cave. There is a river that brings lots of water inside the cave but no one knows where this river is located so names it lost river cavern. Nice place but do wear rain boots and trench coat if you don’t want to get wet. The queens chamber is flooded so closed since 1981. I attached a map to show how far the cave has been explored.

Looks like a tiny little place from the outside but opens up to be much bigger inside. Hosting a nice selection of jewelery and other trinkets, while having these super neat cave tours! Highly recommend! :)

Tour guide was super friendly and very knowledgeable. She had plenty of insight about the history of the cavern. For those who get cold, bring a hoodie, for those looking for a cool (pun intended) and beautiful nature trip, trying to escape the heat of the spring or summer, this is a perfect day trip.

Visited while also visiting nearby Bethlehem and Lost Tavern microbrewery (both recommended). First time touring a cavern and enjoyed the experience especially on a day when it was 92° outside and 52° in the caverns. Friends that have visited much larger caverns in VA would probably be underwhelmed. The guide was full of intriguing facts and stories that rounded out the experience nicely.

My kids and I loved it. They 7 years old and loved every minute. They asked questions and had a blast. I'm also a big guy (6'4) and the tour was easy for me. Awesome to do in the summer because the cave is nice and cool. Will be back!

Went with some friends some time ago - this was a very interesting tour that taught me a lot more than I was expecting! The guide kept it very interesting with the stories relating to its past, was very humorous and interactive with us visitors, and kept us all engaged all throughout (which I'd think is hard given you're in a cave for a good 30 mins or so.) Fantastic job on the crew's part, and the gift shop was the cherry on top. HUGE selection of goods and gifts you could get for just about anyone, all of the items were incredibly interesting! From jewelry and gemstones to decoratives and candy/snacks. Great experience being here, plus the drive to diners nearby helps wrap the day up :)

Very pleasant staff, informative tour. Caves are not extremely deep, which will allow people with lower physical abilities to access the cave. The hoke was closed today, so probably will have to come again to see that one.

  • 5/5 Kyle Doin S. 1 year ago on Google
The cave was fun and interesting. This is not my first time here. The price is affordable and the tour was informative. I have added some photos, but there is so much more to see. The pretty lady is with me, and not part of the tour. Lol. If you are taller, watch your head in a few areas. Just a quick duck will do the job. You have to reserve a spot, but if you call the cave they just take your name. No payment in advance required. The only time we paid was after the tour was over. The gift shop also had some really neat samples of minerals from 1 dollar something up to hundreds if not more. Most items we observed were less than 5 to 10 dollars.

Absolutely stunning inside! Johanna was a fabulous guide with lots of knowledge. Gift shop is not to be missed. Stopped on our way to Poconos and so glad we did! Highly recommend.
