I checked out NYC website to make sure this place offers a Sunday Brunch/Lunch for Restaurant Week Menu and also called the restaurant to confirm. I made a reservation on Sunday at 11:30 am. Woman welcomed us and all of sudden the phone rang and she picked up. She lowered her voice and talking to this person on the phone, instructed to do something and she repeated " what? Give them a different menu slip? Where is it?" In front her, there were actual menu and  "Restaurant Week Menu"  but she gave us regular menu and other "dinner menu"instead. And that dinner menu set cost over $65++ per person compares to $30 per person for Restaurant Week Menu. I asked our waiter if there are any restaurant week menu and he said "No, not on the weekends!" So I told him, "Oh, I actually came to try out Restaurant Week Menu, and I saw on the NYC website shows that your restaurant is  participating for Sunday Brunch/Lunch. He says "No, not on the Sunday" Well, I didn't want to make a big deal, so I ordered a regular meal. 5 minutes later, I noticed that this hostess, same woman were giving out Regular Menu book and "Restaurant Week " Menu to other customers. So I asked this woman,  if there was a  different menu for Restaurant Week? She says " oh did I give you a dinner menu?" I specifically asked our waiter if there's any Restaurant Week menu and he clearly said, No. I lived in this area for more than 10 years. She might have thought that we were a tourist and tried to sell expensive menus. I felt discriminated based on our appearance,  race,  or whatever it was. Terrible experience.

Food was great. Ordered the crab cake appetizer. The dish was light and delectable. Cooked perfectly. The side salad was crispy and fresh. It was well seasoned with a vinaigrette. The chicken skewers were cooked perfectly. It was juicy and flavorful. The tzatziki sauce was tangy and delicious. The service was great. Attentive waiters and staff. The decor inside is beautiful. Very pleasant vibe and a great lunch or dinner spot. Clean restaurant and fairly priced. I would recommend this spot.

Beautifully decorated and spacious restaurant serving Greek food. I had the lobster ravioli and was disappointed. It was not tasty and the ravioli quite chewy. My friend's seafood dish looked really good and he loved it. I'll give this restaurant another try.

Food, ambiance, and service are tops at this amazing Greek spot on W 44th St. A perfect pre or post theatre choice for delicious lavraki, spreads, greek salad, and veggies. Always a wonderful crowd. Angel waited on us and is a perfect server!

We used come here regularly - of course as I remember that, google tells me it has been 9 years.... Great Happy Hour at the bar. Love being able to order small plates, it allows being able to taste a wide variety of dishes. Tonight the Sardines, Shrimp in Tomato, Lamb/Pork Sausage, and Truffle Fries.

I along with two colleagues had a very disappointing dinner at Kellari Taverna on West 44th in New York City. The restaurant has a very appealing décor and atmosphere and there was a nice welcome at the door. Service at our table was very attentive but unfortunately that’s where the positive part of this review ends. We ordered some grilled calamari to share the table and it arrived in some undefined sauce without serving spoons. The calamari was bland and tasteless and a little chewy, which to be objective should be expected. It certainly didn’t taste grilled as there was no char taste. I ordered the solomos as the main course, which was crusted salmon over a bed of spinach and kale with fingerling potatoes. The crusted salmon arrived looking burnt and overcooked while the fingerling potatoes were completely undercooked. I also ordered a side of rapini was which was served on a bed of some strange orange, lumpy sauce. Suffice it to say, I ate the salmon filet, without the crust, spinach, rapini all of which were inedible. This was a very disappointing meal, and I will not be back. In a city with so many excellent restaurants, our dinner was a very disappointing experience.

The restaurant decor in the main dining room was nice as was the bar. However they asked us if we wanted to sit in the dining room in the back saying it would be a lot quieter. We agreed to be seated back there but the setting wasn’t nearly as nice. I noticed they seated the older crowd back there. Oh well we will sit at the bar the next time. The fish display near the bar was gorgeous. The pre and post theatre menu is quite a good deal for this restaurant even though the options are more limited. The food presentation was bland but the food was quite good. The portions were small but actually perfect for what we wanted.

WFH has some challenges, one of them is the lack of live meetings and spaces to do so. Luckily for me, I am not far from Kellari and is now my go to for a quick cocktails, dinner or a meeting in the middle of the day. I felt like I had to write a review because today was one of those days, the staff remembers me and made me great in front of my clients. I highly recommend it.

Amazing greek place. The restaurant is beautiful! Huge wine selection and lots of vegetarian options. We had the zucchini and eggplant chips and zucchini croquettes they were delicious !!! For main course we had the steak which was huge and the fish of the day (not the best i had tbh). In general everything was great, great service as well!

Before moving to Las Vegas five years ago I was a regular at Kellari. I just got into town on a business trip and had to go back to see how they were doing. I was thrilled to see they survived a year and a half Covid shut down, renovated the restaurant with a beautiful new look and expanded their menu. And their food is as great as ever. Kellari is hands-down my go to restaurant for simple fresh fish and seafood. The grilled lavraki butterflied and served with a delicate lemon caper sauce was just perfect. Octopus, their specialty, is hands-down the most tender I have ever experienced. Each bite was so luscious and tender that it reminded me of eating sea scallops. Their grilled chicken was moist, tender and had just the right amount of Mediterranean seasoning on it. Kellari captures the classic Greek taverna experience and melds it with a broad Mediterranean menu. It was a pleasure to eat and people watch there while sipping delicious Greek wines with my meal. I wish they would open up a second restaurant in Vegas!

This month I booked this place for party of 10-12 3x already. Spiros is a fantastic server. They’re kind and always accommodate my request. Pleasure to always dine here!

Came for dinner on a Saturday night before the theater. Dinner was excellent. The restaurant smelled amazing as we walked in. Our server was attentive with out being bothersome. Would definitely come back next time I travel to NYC.

I haven’t been here since 2009 or so but we use to start our happy hours out here because we worked across the street at The Bar Building. We drank So MUCH wine here. And enjoyed the tapas free apps and usually ended up ordering a salmon or steak (and the hamburgers are awesome too. Here tonight for an investment seminar and the wine is a flowing! So nice to be back.

A must-visit Greek restaurant in New York with old-fashioned service and delicious food. We could not fault a single aspect of our dinner on a recent very busy Saturday night. We loved the food, the drinks, the service, the atmosphere... We especially loved the nice touch of providing complimentary Greek biscuits with the bill. Talk about leaving on a sweet note! Thank you for a wonderful meal and happy memory, team Kellari.

We dined here on a weeknight after a late arrival to our hotel. This restaurant was recommended by the hotel check-in staff. We were not disappointed! The restaurant was very busy but the staff were able to seat us within minutes. We received attentive service from server Jon. He helped us select a delicious bottle of white wine from Greece which we paired with the grilled octopus appetizer and two seafood/pasta entrees. My wife had the squid ink pasta with scallops and I had the daily special (branzino/lavraki with lemon/wine/butter linguine). The food was delicious and the price point was reasonable. Great dining experience for sure!

Had a wonderful experience here! Best meal I have had in a long time. After living in New York for 8 years, I haven’t been to a Mediterranean place like it! Wasn’t expecting such a good meal in such a touristy area. Grilled octopus is a must try. We got the Lunch Prix Fix and got to enjoy all the best food this place has to offer. The service and ambiance was incredible. Lefteris was a wonderful server! We will be back to try the rest of the menu soon!

Decent, friendly, and fast service. Good, however, wasn’t up to Greek standards: they didn’t have 3 of the signature starters, flavors were rather dull, and the way they served the ouzo…

This place is a real gem if you are looking for excellent fish and seafood in Manhattan. The dishes are creative without being pretentious, and they are cooked to perfection. Service is fantastic also!

Kellari Taverna is a culinary gem that transports diners to the heart of Greece with its authentic Mediterranean cuisine. The warm and inviting ambiance sets the stage for a delightful dining experience. From the moment you step in, the staff's hospitality is as impressive as the flavorful dishes they serve. The attention to detail extends to the presentation, as each plate is a work of art, reflecting the restaurant's commitment to excellence. The wine list complements the menu beautifully, offering a variety of options to suit every palate.

Food and service are excellent. The seafood is particularly fresh. The place is too noisy for comfortable conversation at lunch time.

Everything was great. I ordered octopus salad, lobster pasta and chestnut dessert. There were many kinds of wines, which was also good.

Staff was amazing, the atmosphere too. On the other hand, I was expecting a little bit more flavor in the lamb. Maybe a more charcoal and lemon similar to what we get in Greece.

  • 3/5 Harvey M. 1 year ago on Google
I enjoyed the charcoal grilled calamari appetizer with red pepper and hummus (pictured), as well as the baklava dessert with honey (pictured) served on the side. I disliked the "east and west coast oysters ($22 for 6)," which I thought were virtually tasteless, a 100% disappointment.

Nice place, but a bit overrated and overpriced. Lobster ravioli were fantastic, creamy and delicious. Steak was just ok. Also, we ordered two medium rare steaks. As a result, one is medium, another is more medium well. Service is great.

Good Greek food with huge portions. My laptops were very tasty but a tad overdone. The grilled octopus was delicious and could easily have served four as an appetizer. My lamb chops came with a huge portion of grilled vegetables and my dining partner's entree came with a very large dish of mashed potatoes that also could have easily served four.

5-star Greek experience right in the center of Manhattan! We were invited here by a family friend so we expected a solid lunch. However, we were blown away with a beautiful ambience, extremely helpful staff but what's most important- crazy delicious food. Definitely we'll be returning here again!

For me , the best seafood & healthy food that I’ve had in a long time. I was very excited to see the vegetarian options ! All the staff was very kind & friendly. Great service! I especially love the lemon potatoes & the charcoal octopus. The desserts were delicious especially the Greek custard pastry. Definitely I’ll be back very soon!

Great menu, long list of good Greek wines, great service. Spacious and ideal for work meetings, anniversaries and friendly gatherings. Their deserts are amazing (we got the Kormos)

The restaurant is beautiful and the staff is so friendly and polite. The food was good generally but I loved the sweet potato fries. They were mouth watering. I had the Mediterranean sea bass and my husband got chicken. Both were good. The mojito however I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

Beautiful location located in the heart of times square. I attended hair for a 4th of July party and events with passed finger foods. Unfortunately the food was pretty cold the drinks were pretty weak but the atmosphere was beautiful the restaurant was very gorgeous and there were a lot of really cool people there. I would go back to try their Mediterranean Greek food during normal hours.

Class act. The food was delicious. My grandson and I ate outside. This is a very hard time for New York City. I love this place. They have a full menu, they have a great attitude. I wish them all the best

First time here. Meal was amazing. Our waiter was beyond friendly. Bartender, not so much. Ambiance was live and cozy.

Food was decent but overpriced. Service was embarrassing. When I arrived, the man I presume was the manager did not ask for my reservation but instead rudely assumed by my Asian appearance that I was with the only Asian table in the restaurant. A restaurant such as this with a substantial wine list should also invest in a sommelier, or at least educate the staff on wine. I asked 2 waiters and the manager for a recommendation and it was clear none of them knew anything about wine.

We stopped in here for brunch after watching the NYC marathon. What a great find! A bright and understated elegant decor, coupled with top notch service and great food make this an ideal spot for a pop in meal or special occasion. Kudos to our server Phillip for going above and beyond!

Perfect restaurant in the way that only NYC can deliver. We ate a light late-night after-theater meal, and they easily accommodated dietary restrictions. The ambience is relaxed and professional, and the food was straightforward, but well done, with good ingredients. It was more than possible to eat well and very healthy. The wait staff were really good, though (understandably) they were bringing the evening to a close as it was late. The Manager, Jorvos(?), was charming and attentive (we were celebrating a birthday), and we left feeling like it was the perfect dining experience to have had on a visit to the city to celebrate.
