Came here on a brunch date and there were so many options on the menu. I had the smashed avocado wrap it came with salad but there wasn't any dressing provided so I didn't have the salad. My date she had blueberry pancakes with eggs and bacon. We both had coffee and it was good. Upon leaving we noticed that there's bowls and shakes too! I got really excited over that. Definitely have to come here again and I love the homey feel of the environment.

Yummy food, huge portions. Ordered takeout of a Mexican-style breakfast: eggs, chorizo, tomatoes and onions on a whole wheat wrap, served with homestyle potatoes and sides of sour cream and salsa. The dish was large enough to split with two people! Coffee is great here too. My only complaint is that there are no prices listed on their chalkboard menu so it's a bit of a guessing game. Coffees are approx $7 as a benchmark.

This is my favorite place to grab a coffee to go, it is rich, flavorful, and aromatic. And I do it at least once a week. I also enjoy having lunches here on the weekends, the food is always fresh and tasty the service is quick. My favorites are omelets. The owners of this place are friendly and I enjoy having a chat with them. Overall this place is a neighborhood gem and I highly recommend visiting it.

Delicious breakfast food with a great menu. Awesome service and we were able to park in the attached parking lot. So cute and quaint. I would highly recommend this place.

I’ve been coming here since I was a kid and this place has, for 20 years, been a wonderful staple in town. The coffee is delicious and the food amazing! It’s a perfect spot to support a local established business for a coffee, a snack, or a full meal. It’s also a great place to have a brunch or lunch meet up or meeting. Anytime I’m in the area I try to make sure to stop in for at least a coffee. They’ve added lots of vegetarian options to their menu - and their home fries get a BIG special shout out. The hint of Indian flavor imparted in them is just divine. Everyone in my family (and honestly anyone who grew up eating breakfast here knows you have to get the home fries)!

I've been coming here for years now, at least once a week. Sometimes more. I have the same thing every week. It's to the point where they hear my voice and know what to make me, it's kind of cool. They're omelettes are out of this world. Vegetables. Fresh ingredients, everything. They have an amazing choice of different coffees, iced tea, and other mixed drinks. Highly recommended if you're in the Maplewood area.

Moved to the area, took a bit to get used to the open close schedule but HIGHLY recommend. Super friendly staff, can get it to go or eat in. DIEGO was our server and he was very friendly, brought everything is super quick and was wonderful. Thank you Diego! The service is VERY fast and the food and drinks are HIGH quality. Great local spot, almost a secret but not. Every time I come here, everything is fast and delicious. You would not expect it to be the way it is. This is probably the only place I can think of that has a big menu where EVERYTHING is actually good. (Usually a big menu is a red flag). Not in this case. Everything comes out picture perfect, made with care. To boot, they offer Indian food, as good as someone's grandma would make for you. My fave has always been Chana Masala and it was excellent. If you're the manager and reading this, please put the Chana Masala on a toasted sandwich, they make them in the city and they are to DIE FOR. Before thinking of going up the street to Starbucks for a bite or a drink, stop here instead, it's not going to break your wallet and the quality is far better! Will continue to come back.

Used to come here when I was little. They’re still awesome, serving delicious Indian cuisine, food & cookies. 🍪☕️🇮🇳 Support Small businesses & Don’t go to Starbucks! (pics circa early 2000’s)

Village Coffee Shop exceeded my expectations with impeccable customer service that made every visit a delight. The warm and welcoming atmosphere, coupled with friendly staff, created a memorable experience. Their bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich was a taste sensation – a perfect blend of savory flavors and freshness. The hot chocolate was a comforting indulgence, rich and satisfying. Village Coffee Shop is more than just a place to grab a bite; it's an oasis of exceptional service and delectable treats that keep me coming back for more.

Village Coffee has the most delicious breakfast. I loved their fresh bagels very well done and French toast it was the best one I ever had. And the coffees come with so many flavors and I had the Amaretto Latte and it was very unique. I definitely recommend village coffee as your breakfast or brunch place. The staff is very nice and provides the best service to their customers.

I came here on a busy work day to do some interviews outside. The iced tea I ordered was delicious, clearly really quality ingredients, and I had a yummy cookie too. The gentleman who served me was super nice and friendly. The atmosphere inside is really nice, plenty of space to sit and lots of outside seating as well. At one point an interviewee actually called the shop and the gentleman brought the phone to me! So really great service. They also have a delicious looking menu of Indian food... I wish I'd gone for lunch. Next time I will.

My wife and I stopped here for breakfast. We were greeted with warm and friendly customer service. There were so many menu options. You must try any of their delectable omelettes! Oh and their iced teas were so tasty! My wife had the raspberry and I had the lemongrass iced tea, which included fresh ginger, turmeric and lemongrass. We will definite dine here again! This place just complimented the Maplewood charm.

I can't rate their food because I didn't get to eat, due to their lack of hygen. Their menus were dirty. The man who took our order; I assume was the manager was pushing a bucket with a mop and serving people's plates at the same time with no gloves and his clothes were dirty. The place wasn't crowded and the bathroom was disgusting. Very disappointing.

5 star service 31 star prces I like the crazy Richard’s PB in my drinks I like the hot sauce that they sell I’m trying to get them to change the name to Dharma Cafe with tagline ‘village coffee’ but they aren’t biting. The owner and the son Anand are good people. The workers are special. Sometimes the coffee they serve does not taste like coffee I deserve. But that is what it’s like to drink at a magic coffee shop.

First time here based on multiple recs but I don’t know that I’ll be back. We (3 adults and 1 baby) tried to enjoy an early lunch outside (lovely seating, nice and breezy) while everyone was at the duck races. Ordered our food and drinks and settled in to enjoy a meal. Another two tables sat and ordered after us and received their food before we did. My water glass had food remnants inside it. I ordered the sesame chicken sandwich without mushrooms and when the food eventually arrived and I had a couple bites I realized there were mushrooms. No allergies thank goodness but a preference. So we asked for it to be made as it was originally ordered and it never made it back to the table. I waited while my husband and sister ate all their food and then the server dropped the check at the table. I inquired about my sandwich again and they apologized and went back into the kitchen. After another half hour we went inside to see what was happening and they then offered to make my sandwich. I said no thank you and left. My husband was unimpressed with his chicken sandwich, my sister loved her Mexican burrito.

So good! I got the gluten free blueberry pancakes and they were delicious. You can tell they used fresh blueberries. Will be going back!

Got very moldy banana bread from here. Tried to call them and once they hung up and second time they put me on hold and never picked up again. This demonstrates a serious lack of concern for food safety.

Wow! Tried the ginger spice iced latte and absolutely loved it. I could taste the fresh ginger but it wasn’t too sharp. Also tried the white chocolate amaretto roast coffee, black which was equally delicious. Can’t wait to come back and sample more of the menu

Got a takeout espresso drink, and it was truly the worst coffee beverage I have ever purchased, at one of the most expensive prices. I think it was the coffee beans themselves that were cheap and terrible, the milk was not prepared the way it was supposed to be for the drink--plus it was $6. I will definitely not be coming back.

Picked up a egg, cheese and chorizo sandwich this week for breakfast. It was delicious! The owner had mentioned the chorizo was made in-house and so I thought I’d give it a try. It was awesome! Not too spicy, very flavorful. Will definitely be getting a breakfast sammie from here again soon!

Our absolute favorite go to breakfast place in all of Essex / union county. Love the family run nature of the business. Best omelettes, and their side of cumin potatoes is to die for. Serving staff is the sweetest - can't wait to go there in person post pandemic.

Don't trust their menu price!!!! It's fraud!!!! They charged me 11 for Kick Start (priced at 9.49 on their own website!!); 11 for Morning Power (priced at 9.49 again!!). No receipt provided. Very unprofessional and fake resturant....

Information on credit card usage was not mentioned nor was it in an obvious location. Word of advise if your going to charge a fee for using a credit card please have the waiter or waitress inform the customer of such thing if they are paying at the table.

  • 2/5 james c. 4 years ago on Google
The coffee is good but that is pretty much where it ends. Their avocado toast is terrible, I suspect the avocado spread comes out of a package, I doubt it's made fresh. They are also very stingy on the avocado. the greens that are served with the toast didn't have any dressing. i'm not sure if that is intended but it seems weird to have a side salad with no dressing. On this occasion the coffees we ordered were delivered after we were done eating. On another visit to Village Coffee I ordered an omelet which also wasn't very good. TLDR: Bad Service, Bad Food, Good Coffee = 2 stars

A nice relaxed atmosphere, good sized breakfast sandwiches(the Taylor ham, egg and cheese on a kaiser roll is delish), fantastic coffee and definitely worth many, many return visits. It's been around for as long as it has for a reason.

Looking for variety? Village Coffee has an unmatched Mexican and Indian flare with new refreshing options like smoothies! Despite coming here often with friends, we’ve faced a miserable server time and time again. We keep returning because of the ambience and food, but the interactions with our server have definitely put a dent in the experience. All the chai is great, but their plates don’t come with a lot of meat.

I needed a fairly last minute large order for an open house and Village Coffee not only came thru, they were pleasant, helpful, accomodating, and by far the best catering company I have worked with in many many years. Everyone at the open house loved the food and the creativity. 100% using again!
