This is a campground we stayed in a fifth wheel. Some of the sites looked unlevel. The sites are good-sized. You are not close to your neighbors. The bathrooms and showers are clean and well maintained. Nice large firepits. Picnic tables at each site. You can book online as well as purchase firewood online.

A quiet little campground tucked in the woods. We stayed on the tent side. Only negatives are the restrooms with running water are across the main road on the RV side, and you can’t drive up to the sheltered sites (unsure why they have this blocked off). The best part about the campgrounds is you have access to hiking and biking trails without having to drive anywhere!

Very buggy, depending on weather. Lots of planes, ambulances etc but it is NJ. Asphalt pads with varying states of β€˜levelness’. Sites nice and apart, wooded, has that campground feel. Don't arrive after dark. We had 50 amp, water( odd hose set up, but worked). Bathroom dated and clean, nice showers. Bring our own toilet paper, people steal it. This is a county park. Worker Sean very helpful . Use GPS address on website to find entrance. Starlink does not work, too wooded. AT&T 5G is 3 bars

Had a great time. Finally, a place in NJ where camping is a reasonable $25! A little far from neighboring trails, but some great ones are within 30 minutes or so. Easy check in. Honey bucket Portopotties or whatever in October, so bring extra sanitizer and water if you feel you need it.

We made reservations based on the great reviews of the park, the campground and the people working there. A few weeks after we made the reservations, we were asked to sign an indemnification form. We saw three different versions of the form. All versions were difficult to understand, but as far as I can tell (I am not a lawyer), by signing any of the versions, we agreed to take responsibility for any harm done to us by the park or its employees. We have camped a lot and have never been asked to sign anything like this. Even though it is very unlikely that such a situation would arise, if it were to arise, the lawyers and the courts would look at the release we signed, not at the verbal assurances of the park staff. We canceled our reservations rather than signing the release.

This campground is a hidden gem. Having grown up in northern NJ I would have never believed a campground existed this close to busy Bergen county. All the sites are wooded and very spacious. We had a 30 amp hookup plus a water connection which was great as most state parks in PA only have electric hook ups at sites. We loved how the fire pit was situated behind the asphalt pad under the trees. Also the campground is small with around 20 sites total so it will not get crowded or loud even when full as it was when we stayed over memorial day weekend. Highly recommend staying here if in the area!

Last two visits were disappointing. 1st visit the sun went down and the teenagers descended on the empty sites and watched TV all night. The 2nd visit, a loose pitbull who was running through the campground, ran in front of the park police which started a 2 hour search of the neighboring campsite...which resulted in an arrest for gun possession. Woke up the next morning to blasting music and treats being screamed about "shooting the people who told on his dog" the entire evening was full of that couple fighting, and driving in and out of the campgrounds all evening. At one point there was even air horns being blown. I will never go back. Not safe!

Nice quiet park, fire rings only in back loop, sites are large enough to function easily, very wooded. Hiking, biking and a small lake just a few minutes away. Would stay again.

It's good that there are such wonderful places specially designated for camping. Right in the middle of the woods you can live for a whole week, or even more.

One of the most beautiful campgrounds we have visited. The woods, hiking and nature are the primary draws for this campground. However, they up their game with nicely paved roads and camp sites. The park provides clean water and nice electric pedestals at each site. The bath house was clean and bug free. The camp host was nice as well. Food, gas and other essentials are 4 miles away. I like the way the park does not have street lights, thus allowing for star viewing. Highly recommend this campground.

This is an RV park in a state park, it's very basic but done very well. Once the winter freeze passes, they turn on individual site water, there is 30-50 amp power, only a dump station. Each site has trees between each other, most are level with very little additional needed, some are way of kilter. Easy to park, bathhouse has showers.

Tent Campsite was very clean, I booked tent site 1, so it was near the firewood shelter, water spout, and port-a-potty. There is a fire ring, picnic table, and raised platform for your tent. We had very noisy neighbors who threw a party until 1AM at one of the shelter sites on our first night so we had trouble falling asleep and our second day was filled with rain, but we managed to make the most of it and still had a lot of fun. Dog friendly! (must be on leash) 2 cars are allowed per tent site (additional vehicles must park in an overflow lot and there's an extra fee for additional cars). 4 people are included in the nightly rate with an option to add an additional 2 people for a fee. The shelter sites do not allow vehicle access. One thing to note is the tent / shelter and RV side are split by weldon road, and the road doesn't have a proper shoulder / place to walk if you want to go over to the RV side to shower since only the RV side has shower stalls and proper bathrooms. It's a quick 2-3 minute walk on the road, but it can be a little nerve-racking when walking at night or when many cars are zooming by so make sure you bring headlamps and flashlights! The showers were great as they are individual rooms with lighting, heat, hot water, a bench, shower hooks, and shower caddy to place your soaps. There are 2 shower stalls on the men side and 2 on the women side of the building. There are plenty of easy / moderate hikes nearby and Lake Hopatcong has plenty of other things you can do such as kayaking and fishing. Plenty of firewood was available during my visit on-site for $5 a bundle and fees are collected through your online account or a cashbox.

Love love loved this stay. I used to live I the area and this is new to me even though it's been there 20 years. It was great to travel through in our rv and hit all the old places of my youth. It was a mile from my old High School. It's got heavy tree canopy so fairly shaded, but was not a problem even in our Class A. There were Bear in the area but were not a problem really, just saw a sow and 2 cubs just outside the campground entrance. Live and let live just be smart about what you leave around camp overnight

Nice little campground. Spacious sites, clean bathrooms, not too buggy. Great spot for a peaceful, relaxing time in nature. Hard to believe this is only about an hour from NYC. Lots of hiking and biking trails.

This is a well maintained public park with a few Electric/Water sites available for booking during the camping season. Book early for weekends and holiday times. No sewer but dump station onsite. Hiking trails onsite and easy access to local restaurants, grocery and beautiful Lake Hopatcong. Closest proximity to NYC make this a real gem.

Great place so far. Oak and hard maple forest is at least 100 years old. Sadly they do not have or enforce quiet times at the tent camping area. Although park police with deal with drunken folks if asked. EDIT They do have quiet times 11 to 7. Be bear aware as a hiker was killed near by in another park last year. Keep you site clean and think about carrying a horn.

Not calm and peaceful area. I give 1 star only for the beautiful nature of the park. I wasted my weekend in this campground. I'm a backpacker and traveled around the world and have never seen the people like the campers in this park. The people made noise every night until 4 am and the police of park didn't care.

This campground is the best planned campground in the entire country. It is beautiful, clean and has amazing hiking trails everywhere. It’s also very quiet and has beautiful areas for playing. One hour from NYC and one hour from Delaware Water Gap. Perfect!!!!

Quiet shady campground with some nice rocky hiking trails. The bathrooms were clean and well maintained and there are individual shower rooms which was very nice. Only about a half hour drive to the stairway to heaven trail.

Fantastic little campground. The sites are far enough apart that you aren't on top of your neighbor, and you have lots of beautiful greenery and trees around each site. The trails around seemed really great, but didn't get to explore as much as we wanted due to the heavy presence of mosquitoes. Great facilities that made it easy to fill up on water and dump our tanks. Plus you can't beat the price for a wonderful quiet night sleep and all the amenities that you need!

Very quiet campground about an hour out of NY City. We camped here and visited the city. Very nice bath house and a quiet spot to unwind after being in the city all day.

This little Campground had approximately 30 sites a few RV sites in a few tents sites. The sites were very spacious, beautiful and treed. There was electric hook-up and water. The sites were very quiet and pets were allowed. However rvers are not allowed to have a fire. Bears have been sighted in the area. A fire is a great deterrent to a bear. So I recommend you keep your site lit up like all night long to deter bears. Also dispose of any food and don't leave any of it in your camper or your car. A few days before we arrived the camper next to us saw a bear 100 ft away.

I loved and hated camping here. Our spot (#7) was awesome. It was surrounded by trees and it felt truly magical. Considering we were able to park nearby it was perfect. But then I looked down and came to realize that there was no grass at all. Only man made powdery dirt. The kind that is almost chalky. If I didn't go with my 3 year old son it probably would have been a non issue but it added stress to what should have been relatively stress free.

Nice, well maintained trails for hiking and leisure. Seems to be popular with mountain bikers too. Several water features in and around the area, get it and enjoy nature.

It's places like this that are so important to a small town. The staff enjoys their job, the ground are clean, they provide an excellent product/client experience. I always look forward to going. I'm happy with every experience. Every small town should be fortunate to have a place like this in it!

Great spot for camping or hiking. The employees were happy. It was clean and close to highways if you need anything. I would recommend this for anyone looking to get outdoors. For a small fee you can get wood for your camp fire. There are port a potties which were clean

  • 3/5 Christine S. 3 years ago on Google
Except for a few loud campers, mostly a pleasant time with one glaring exception. We got there Sunday and were scheduled for 2 nights but the portapotties were all completely full... Could not even sit down. They weren't emptied until Monday and was told they are only emptied once a week. That just turned us off and we did not stay the second night. My suggestion is to only go early in the week and leave before the weekend.

I want to give this place a 0 review simply because of how rude the man was who booked our reservation. I’ve booked 100’s of reservations on the phone as we drive towards campgrounds and have never had one so rude.
