Definitely one of the better restaurants for Korean homestyle meals. Presentation may not be there, but the taste is very rustic. Nothing super amazing, but a good bowl of Jjampong and Jjajangmyun. We came for a rehearsal dinner and left absolutely stuffed. I'd come back. Prices were reasonable. Food came out quick.

The restaurant was packed when I arrived at 7pm on a Sunday. Great sign! I was seated fairly quickly. Service was friendly and relatively quick, given how busy they were. The food was delicious though slightly and consistently undersalted - not a bad thing. Salt is a matter of personal taste and can be added, but not removed. This seems to be deliberate and smart! The prices were reasonable given the current inflation. I will be going back!

Nice seating, decent portions, reasonable price with a bar. Food comes fast. average service. The Juicy-juicy fried chicken wings were on the smaller size,It was good and crispy.Fresh and juicy string beans with a crisp, The pickle cabbage escalated the string beans dish. Perfectly cooked Fish fillet w/ wood ear was light. Fish fillet were medium firm, not fishy. the wood ear added crunch to the dish. Seafood noodle dish was flavorful. Shrimp, bay scallops, and squid were cooked perfectly! The vegetables added nice crunch to the noodle dish. Overall none of the dish was greasy and that’s a plus. Can’t wait to return.

We love chef ping. We usually oreer the lollipop chicken, jiaoping pork, kkangpoong shrimp, jjajangmyeon, and Jjambbong. I always leave feeling like I'm gonna pop.

Really good quality food and amazing taste. Make sure to reserve a table before you go. At least on weekends. Downside is the parking lot, is to small for the volume of customers they get.

The food was great but the service was terrible. I ordered summer salad for to go. When I bring the order, I found that there was no tableware included. So I asked the owner to get 4 paper plates and 2 forks. She said they can’t give too many paper plates. I was so speechless, I need 4 plates because I have 3 kids to share the food together. More importantly, the summer salad is big serving, I don’t understand how come I asked for 4 paper plates is too much??!!

You will not find an orange beef more crispy than this! The flavor of fresh oranges is so good and they give nice big pieces of orange beef. I highly recommend this place!

Authentic Chinese restaurant in Chicago. Very busy.. somewhat difficult to find a parking on weekends.. we visited on Sunday and it was pretty busy so we waited almost for half an hour to be seated.. their service was pretty fast..food was great.. authentic Chinese....price are very reasonable... appetizers are cheaper compared to other Chinese restaurants. the food quality and quality both are really awesome...they have a bar .overall I loved it..will visit again..

Chef Ping is my favorite Chinese restaurant as others have allowed their quality and taste decline while this restaurant continues to impress me. My only criticism is that it’s time for a dining room update as time worn it down some. Also, another location in the west suburbs of Naperville, Oakbrook, Downers Grove area would be greatly appreciated!

Food: very extensive menu. Highly suggest the lollipop chicken, garlic pea shoots, noodles, and roast duck appetizer. All very on point! Service: Decent for a Chinese restaurant and for how crowded it was. Service was a little on the slow side, but our server was nice. Also not that there is often a bit of a wait for small parties (no res) on weekends Atmosphere: Clean, but always crowded

Had lunch here twice. Excellent. We had 3 different dishes. All were delicious. Lunch includes egg roll, fried wanton, and tea except for noodle dishes. Service was timely and friendly. A great place to enjoy lunch. It reestablished why I truly enjoy Chinese. The bill averaged $27 including a 20%+ tip.

Pay a visit to this restaurant during my last visit to Chicago, oddly satisfying with just 3 or 4 dishes that we ordered for lunch. IMO it's very authentic for traditional Chinese cuisine and quite good even for my first visit so expectations are somewhat depressed. So it's only fair for update to my opinion with future visits which I will most likely do. My only complaint is that the restaurant is way outside of the metro city center of Chicago so it has to be a special occasion to drive here; and the long wait to get a table which is bit of surprise even for late Sunday afternoon. Fortunately the food is well worth it. Highly recommended if you happens to be out here and craving for some authentic Chinese food.

Very delicious Chinese food. I would highly recommend sweet-and-sour, chicken, spicy, shrimp, and Mongolian beef. Food was delicious, hot and serve quickly. We got one of the tables with the spinning Lazy Susan, which was perfect for a party of eight. This way everybody could share all the meals.

I used to go to Chef Ping on a regular basis. Took family and friends here. Even visitors from China. We would come for the noodles. Wow, have things changed. Noodles with black bean sauce was bland and no pork and very little shrimp. Noodles were bland and sticky. Green beans were good. Orange beef was really tough and came out in pieces so big they served it with a knife. Seriously? I've been to too many Chinese restaurants to count and never have they put a knife on the table to cut up the meat in a stir-fried dish. I told the waitress and she took it away and billed us anyway. Thankfully, there are other Chinese restaurants in the area...

First time customer here! I must say, most authentic Chinese food I’ve had in a long time!! The food was served very hot and tasty, just the way I like it! I could tell that a lot of love went into making these dishes and they came out perfect! The’ve earned my highest recommendation and I’ll be back!

Service is exceptional, food came fast and we were quickly seated…even though it was very busy on a Thursday night. Picture of Pad Thai Chicken and Vegetable Noodle Platter.
