HUGE RED FLAGS! The trainer refused to AIM AT MY HEAD when we were training mitts. I kindly asked, and he refused to aim at my head because he thought I was a beginner. I refuse to train at a gym that does not teach proper head movement. If you’re not aiming at the boxer on mitts for slipping/rolling, you’re hurting their muscle memory to duck at the correct level to dodge a punch. You could have 1 day of experience and say this and it will be true. I recommend Sugar Ray Leonard as they will properly teach you ways to slip and defend yourself to protect yourself in the ring.

Urban boxing is professional as professional gets. Tom, the general manager, runs a tight ship and maintains the place in an organized and diligent fashion. The trainers are excellent and do a great job working with a large variety of expertise. The trainers are all unique and friendly and incorporate a new style to each on of their classes- Tom, David, Randolph, Sula, Arturo, and Ricky. They provide great additional insight to each member and will augment your boxing training with helpful advice based on the individual's boxing goals. Great community from the staff to the members. I only have positive things to say about this place!

Urban Boxing is not only a challenging workout, but it's also incredibly fun. Coming from a running/cycling background, I often feel as though indoor workouts can be boring, but Urban Boxing is totally different. The instructors give your personalized advice and push you to your limits, and there is more than enough room in the gym to feel like you can move well around the bag. If you want to build up your mental and physical strength while having a great time, start with Urban Boxing!

For those who have never boxed and are hoping to find a way to lose weight and improve overall fitness, this is the place for you. From requesting a free first class session to being a member for 2 months now, I can’t say enough about how great this place is. The coaches and members are very encouraging and friendly, making a great atmosphere overall. I’ve never felt judged for my (lack of) technique and the more experienced boxers have provided me with bits of advice when I need it. Based on my work schedule, I’ve only attended Coach David’s classes, which have been exactly what I needed. He’s great at pushing you to work harder, but will also praise you for your improvements. I’ve also only heard great things about all of the other coaches, so you can’t go wrong with anyone. It’s definitely a place where you get out what you put into it, but everything is set up to lead you to success. I wish I joined sooner, but late is better than never.

I've been coming to Urban Boxing for 2 years since I moves to the DMV area. I had no experience when I first started but the instructors cater to all levels of fighters. I've always felt welcome and comfortable at my level, and you can attend classes at any of their locations. I plan to stay with them and I highly recommend them for all levels of experience.

Tom and company are the best. Super welcoming and I come all the way from Baltimore because of how much I enjoyed the class and training from the professional coaches.

This place changed my life back in 2021. Lost 10 lb in a few months just from going here regularly and got in the best shape of my life. Super welcoming staff will help you with your goals, and the atmosphere is very friendly. Tom, the manager, is a really great guy as well.

After practicing TKD for 27 years, my arthritic knees don’t like single leg rotations and kicking. I’ve had some boxing experience and decided to try Urban Boxing. My first class was excellent with: (1) great instructor who generated great energy and provided appropriate instruction and technique improvements; (2) good class participation with others in the gym, who all seemed to have good positive attitudes and mutual helpfulness across all age groups; and (3) well equipped facility that is clean and nice, but not posh. Looking forward to improving my boxing skills and keeping in good health as I approach 65!

Great place, friendly staff, good trainers, very clean gym and organized gym. I signed up both of my teenagers for their kids boxing class and they loved it! They come home sweaty and happy. That’s what I love about this gym.

Highly highly recommend! I absolutely loved the energy, atmosphere, and structure of the class. Sula (the trainer) knows what he’s doing and has great experience. I will definitely be coming back :)

This is a great gym for boxers of all levels. The coaches are very friendly and are always willing to help you get the most out of the classes. I especially appreciate that they use both the indoor and outdoor areas for classes so that I can get lots of variety in my workouts

AMAZING facility and staff! Great offers to try out the classes and when we couldn't make it the first time, they were able to work around our schedule. We regretfully had to cancel our membership due to a hectic work schedule, but we will continue to recommend them to others. Sula, in particular, is a very skilled instructor.

Took class with Tom, he’s a great trainer and a cool a** dude. As someone who is from out of town just dropping in, the class was very welcoming. Great atmosphere, great workout. Highly recommend.

I started boxing here almost a year ago and have had a wonderful experience. The instructors are patient and knowledgeable, and the classes are very engaging. As a first time boxer, they made the sport approachable. The environment of the gym is welcoming and equipment is clean and well maintained.

Fantastic gym! Whether you're looking to get into great shape, or learn and push yourself in the art of combat sports, this gym is the place. The trainers come from a range of combat sports backgrounds and invest a great deal in teaching their members. The environment is motivating and encouraging. I couldn't recommend this gym enough.

Amazing boxing gym with even better instructors. The coaches here take time to break down the 'why' behind movements and help you understand what to do and why it matters. An added bonus is that the all levels classes really are for all levels. This is a great place to be to both learn from scratch & become a better fighter

😠 Be careful that they may update your membership in a sneaky way without your approval! I’ve been a member of the Sports and health gym for 3 years in Tenleytown location, monthly membership fee of 40 bucks. Recently, I found out there was a charge of 85 dollar/month since last December for eight m...

👍👍 I am new to personal training and Training Ground. Should have done it years ago! Nice gym open only to those who are working with a trainer. You'll find the usual gym equipment, but uncrowded and with plenty of room. Feels like a safe space and a "no judgment zone." The process was simple: I...

😠 The new hours to the pool are inconvenient and not logical. How are we to make fitness a priority for Active Duty Members if the gym and pool are barely open? The Gym hours close before most people get off from their shifts. On weekends the gym is only open for 5 hours. 5 hours of a 48 hour weekend....
