You can walk for about 2.5 miles around the lake on a wooded trail. It’s beautiful and you can bring your dog along. There is ample parking available.

Centennial Park is a public park in Ellicott City, Maryland, managed by the Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks. It is a 337-acre park that surrounds Centennial Lake. A 2.4-mile asphalt trail loop loops around the lake. During certain months of the year, boat rentals are available, as well as a public boat ramp. Hunting, guns, swimming, sailboarding, wind surfing, stand up paddle-boarding, and inner tubing are all illegal in the lake. Except in picnic pavilions, playgrounds, and sports areas, pets are allowed in the park. Pet owners are compelled by Howard County legislation to pick up any and all waste that their pets make. Plastic bag dispensers are strategically placed throughout the park to help maintain it tidy. The leash law in Howard County is strictly enforced. Centennial Park’s lake, field, forested areas, and wetlands are home to a diverse range of species. A buoy line prevents entry to a Wildlife Region on the lake, which provides a safe spawning area for fish and nesting grounds for birds. Running, walking, and biking are all permitted on the loop around the lake. There are a number of benches along the loop, as well as pavilions nearby. Water fountains, particularly water fountains for dogs, are also available for public use. As part of the Water Fountain Donation Program, the first water fountain for dogs was just added. The O’Brien family donated the fountain in 2017 in honour of their family dog, Phoenix. In keeping with the program’s goal of reducing the usage of plastic water bottles, the fountain also has a bottle filling station.

It’s a big loop of 2.5-3miles around Centennial Lake offering for walking, running, biking, fishing to boating. It has a beautiful sunset mirror to the lake to enjoy! It’s a beautiful park to enjoy while exercising! There’s different entryways around the park to get you to different part of the trails, with available parking lots.

Nice walking trail with several playground and picnic areas. Plenty of fishing areas and you can also rent kayaks or canoes. Many large grassy areas that people use foe picnicking. Parking is limited but they do have people assisting with that on busy days you may need to park on the grass.

It's a beautiful park by the lake. You can walk, run or bike the 2.6 miles paved pathway that encircles the lake. The park has 4 entrances. Videos are from October 7, 2023 and the photo was taken in December last year when the lake was frozen.

Always a nice walk around the park. There is a large detour around the boathouse right now but the loop is still walkable. Nice playground with lots of climbing walls.

Great place to walk, exercise, and take pictures. You definitely get very different vibes (and pictures) in the winter vs the spring. Worth visiting either way. They also have various pavillions scattered around, a playground, tennis courts, basketball courts, etc. Note that the sports areas/playground are found in on the west side (I think).

Really nice place to bring a family for a casual stroll around the lake. The place does get busy and parking is not abundant. The paths do get crowded, so be careful when walking and watch out for the bikers; they tend to fly by pretty fast and not give you enough warning. Arrive early, bring some food, bring some games, bring some activities, bring the family or friends, and have a good time. There are so many things to do around this lake. We will definitely return to this park.

Beautiful and serene, Centenial Park is one of those "neighborhood" gems that welcome you from the start. The opennes, the clean air, the greens in the spring, the reds in the fall, the wildlife and the lake...this park is the epitome of sought after natural experiences.

This is just about the loveliest 2 and 1/2 mile waking path, meandering around the lake with the smell of honeysuckle in the air. Lots of well behaved geese(although they do leave their calling card all over some of the areas, so watch your stepping)! Pavillions, picnic tables, grills and benches available. Playgrounds, kayaks and canoes available to rent also. Restrooms and plenty of parking. And the park and paths are leashed dog friendly!

The Lake loop here is gorgeous in Autumn. A nice circuit walk that's takes about 45 minutes to an hour. Nicely paved with good bridges. A bit crowded on the weekends, but lots of nice people enjoying the outdoors.

This! Family Park has what you need. Space for grilling. Playgrounds walking trails paddle boats! Enjoy nature all around. You can have a celebration out here! Lots of space. Clean and well kept. Safe patrol driving through. I managed to finish a 2-mile walk and enjoyed every bit of it. I managed to take some pictures. Enjoy.

Great place to walk and run. It is very serene and clean. It's also a great place to just enjoy nature & meditate. I hope the community continues to protect the wildlife areas.

It was a really nice place to walk. The lake loop is extended at the moment because of construction so closer to 3 miles instead of the stated 2.5. The playgrounds looked nice, one larger than the other. We didn't stop to enjoy them but will definitely do that next time.

Centennial Park is an excellent place. They have separate areas designed for different functions. The park facilities are currently under renovation, so some areas may not be open to the public. The pavilions are nice, playground is massive. Like wear your kid out before Naptime massive. There's lots of lake for fishing and boating. This place is getting 4/5 stars for now because I'm not sure of all the changes being made inter the renovations.

Went on a lovely walk with my best friend, it was my first time, I completely loved the vibe - especially the lake, the flowers, the animals. Highly recommend it, for future visits I would like to rent a pedal boat and go on the lake :)

The park is beautiful. A few miles of trails circling the lake, close to water in some sections and further into the woods in others. Completely paved and very accessible. While somewhat busy, it does feel pretty natural despite it's location. Lots of birds including ducks, herons, woodpeckers, songbirds, and many Canada geese. It was under construction when I went a month ago and part of the waterfront was fenced off. However, there was an alternate route that still kept the loop trail complete. Not as relaxing as usual with the construction but still nice.

This park is gorgeous. I'm attending a father's day get together with a family friend. We're in one of the outstanding pavilions complete with giant stone fireplace. Easily an event space. Massive BBQ grill, convenient bathrooms, a lake with boats for rowing, well thought out playground nearby.0 I saw a guy solo fishing. Just idyllic and graceful. I'll return.

Beautiful place to walk around. The lake is beautiful. The trail is very well kept and plenty of benches and trash cans along the way. The overlooking picnic shades are very nice too to seat and enjoy the view to the lakes. Plenty of parking as well.

These lobster rolls are scrumptious. If you can afford the $22.00 price tag it's a must stop in Rehobeth. Neat, clean, delicious and professional service. There is a range of choices, although I still prefer mine with butter. Shrimp, soup and other tangy options are available.

This park is so beautiful and peaceful. Alot of parking and not too crowded (without events). Restrooms are decent, better than most parks. They have a lake trail (that circles the lake) I believe its more than 2 miles. They have a playground for the kids, a basketball court (with a least 6 baskets, maybe more) and a tennis court.

Clean trails, plenty of space for multiple people to walk, run, or cycle. Playgrounds for kids, pavilions and picnic areas, you can rent boats to go around the lake on some days.

We had a great time here in pavilion D for our family reunion. There was plenty of space and seating. We only had an issue with one of the outlets not working inside. The water fountains were great to have close by and it was nice not being harassed by park staff. The bathroom was hot and full of webs and spiders but there was toilet paper and soap all day.

I love the scenic beauty of this park and how smooth the trails are for walking and running. It's the best place to take your children to the playground and for a family picnic. Best local park in Ellicott City.
