First time stopping in here and it was the last place for us during our day in Chester. Service was excellent and they continually checked on our table. Nice range of beers and an extremely well made cocktail to finish the day. The weather was nice enough to sit outside and people watch but the inside was also impeccable and nicely decorated.

Had nice meal here early on a Thursday evening. Only gripe is they don’t serve Coke; waiter explained that Pepsi changed their recipe to avoid the sugar tax but Coke did not. So they only do Pepsi🙄. I would be happy to pay more for a better quality drink. In future I will phone ahead to restaurants and if they don’t do Coke I will go elsewhere 🤷‍♂️

Absolutely fantastic stay. Room really comfortable everything could possibly need has been thought of. Bed really comfy had a great night's sleep. Ate in the restaurant for evening meal was absolutely lovely and we fell lucky on the 2 for 1 deal too. Breakfast was amazing loads of choice . Quality of the ingredients absolutely spot on. The staff provided excellent service

We were a group of five and none of us enjoyed our food or experience at the Coach House. I had the falafel skewers -the portion size was pathetic, and the falafel looked and tasted like shop bought beetroot falafel..The rice was inedible. Service was extremely slow.

Booked a table at 8:00 pm, expecting a family friendly 4 star environment and turned up to some sort of party. Blasting music, disco lights and a dozen drunk men dancing around my head. We left immediately and was still charged 5 pound for not turning up.

Wandered in on a wet and cold Thursday some respite from shopping. We were able to get a seat, a drink and food. Despite a wedding party arriving the service was quick, the food was hot and plentiful. Plenty of drinks to choose from too. Food prices were reasonable, drinks less so. The serving staff were efficient but seemed a bit rushed. The young lady on food service was pleasant and polite. Don't know anything about the rooms, but if you want a feed, you could do worse.

Little gem of a hotel and pub just opposite the cathedral right in the centre of the city. No need for a car as you can see everything by foot. Hotel room was spacious, clean and a lovely large ensuite with shower over bath. The breakfast is first class and portion sizes are huge. Great selection of beers and wines in the pub and good choice of food on the menu. Again, make sure you are hungry as the portion sizes are large. Staff are very friendly. Would recommend this hotel to stay in.

Went for a friends birthday meal, they were very accommodating when I brought a cake in and asked for a bottle of Prosecco on arrival. Our first waiter (who finished his shift after we ordered) was lovely. From this point on it went downhill. We were booked in at 6:30pm on a Sunday, when they stop serving at 7pm. We were sat by the open kitchen pass and had front row view to watch and hear one of the chefs complain about our order and moan that the kitchen should be finished by now. This chef then proceeded to stare at us while we ate our starters, tapping on the pass as he stared directly at us and at his watch. We all noticed this and immediately felt uncomfortable. They walked past and stared at our plates many times to keep checking if we had finished yet, all while the chef stared on and moaned more. We watched as our mains were getting plated before we were finished with our starters as they clearly just wanted to finish work. While we understand their position and the want to finish work, it was 7pm and it is their job. They should not allow people to book tables at this time if it is a problem. When this was discussed with the manager about how uncomfortable we had been made to feel, his simple response was ‘that’s not good, I will talk to him’ with not a single apology or complimentary offer in sight. As someone who works in hospitality, the bare minimum you offer an offended customer is an apology. I will compliment the cocktails and the food quality. But that’s it. I don’t care if you’re going to talk to the chef about his attitude as I will not be going back. I care about an apology for ruining my friends birthday dinner in a place where it is your job to provide a service. Even as we were eating our mains and the chef was having a drink at the bar he continued to stare at our table. Very intimidating for four young female adults. I am all for a moan at work at the end of the day but at least do it behind closed doors. Poor attitude from chef and manager.

Hogwash!!! In Chester today visiting from Scotland, drinks for 4. Asked 4!!! Times for menus to eat at lunch time each time fobbed off guy bringing out never arrived went asked again twice again asked told blonde waitress totally avoiding eye contact - maybe they simply don’t like a northern accent!. Walked out to next pub and immediate service. Would never go back over the visit.

My wife, daughter and I had a fantastic couple of nights at the Coach Inn over half term week. You can't get a more central location to stay, perfect for exploring the city. The room we were in was lovely and larger than anything you normally get at a chain hotel. The staff were really friendly & helpful and the cooked breakfast was on point. The perfect place to stay for a Chester city break

We had a fantastic Sunday roast here. Quite easily the best roast dinner we'd had when eating out. The team were really helpful and very attentive.

I think I've given an amazing review before for the coach house but I had to review again after our visit today. This place has to be the cosiest and best place to enjoy a drink and some lovely food in Chester. It's family run which makes it even better. The food we had today was absolutely gorgeous, the service, the atmosphere was just perfect. Even my mum who is the fussiest vegetarian in the world gave her beetroot burger 5 stars! Keep up the great work guys we will definitely be back again and again!

The food and service was excellent. Certainly value for money. We haven't eaten there before but we will definitely eat there again. Compliments to the chef.

One of the best English breakfasts my partner and I have had in the UK. As a non-native person, I have naturally never been a big fan of it, but they seem to use high quality ingredients: fresh mushrooms, tasty beans, quite decent sausages. The services is great, too.

Popped in for a drink whilst in Chester. Wasn't really suitable for that as it felt a little like we were stood in the middle of a restaurant - it was a little awkward. Might have misjudged where we were going as maybe this is a restaurant who just happened to serve us a drink? Drink was nice enough and the place looked decent, but probably more suited to grabbing some food and getting a table. Although I didn't taste any as we only popped in for a drink, the food smelt great! It was quite loud in there so wasn't very easy to chat whilst having a drink and not sure how this would have worked if we were there to grab a bite - may pop back and find out.

What a gem of a hotel. Huge comfy beds. I slept like a baby. We had our evening meal here and the 4 stars are well deserved. I would return.

Lovely pub and nice friendly staff, but unfortunately, I'm not a massive fan of the food. Can't justify nearly 10 quid for sandwiches that have an overabundance of salad and small amounts of meat. That coupled with the basic quality produce used in the main meals (that I have ordered at least) mean I won't be ordering food here again but wouldn't hesitate to pop in for drinks.

I booked here for my GF's birthday back in early August 2022. We were both thoroughly impressed by the food & service. The location is great also. I'd highly recommended this place to anyone looking for very good food and a great atmosphere. Highly recommended.

My husband, myself and baby stayed over for one night at The Coach House Inn over the bank holiday and would not stay again or recommend. Very very noisy and in my opinion only suitable as accommodation if you're having a big night out and planning on passing out. I gave feedback about the noise which kept us up throughout the night (both inside from cleaning/the moving around of furniture and outside from partygoers and bottle collection) when checking out but was met with defensiveness and no offer of compensation. We dined in the restaurant the evening prior which was however very good. If the proprietor would like to discuss further you have my husband's number and can call. I was given an email address to email my feedback to if I wanted to escalate but I'm not confident it will reach anyone who cares.

£16.95 for a burger which was littered with frozen chips , coleslaw in the most minuscule dish I’ve ever seen , water or grease dripping out my first bite of the burger , was never asked how my meal was which is customary at any good food place , not worth the money and would never go back, lots better places around Chester , better quality and better value

Lovely looking pub and we hoped it would be a nice place to eat. We had the Tuesday set meal for two. I had the burger and my wife had the gammon. My burger was very ok but my wife’s gammon was really fatty, taste was nice but basically half was fat 😢 Waitress asked if everything was ok with the meal which I said yes for mine but my wife said it was alright. The waitress nearly walked away but did turn and ask why. We explained and she said sorry for that and left. She came back and offered a new gammon but as I’d nearly finished my burger there wasn’t time to wait for a new one to be made. We finished and left with no further mention of the gammon or offer to adjust the bill. I was hoping that maybe our drinks could have been compt as a gesture. Other than that nice place and attentive staff

We popped in for a glass of wine on a wet Saturday afternoon and stayed longer than we intended. The big comfy sofas were a nice addition and our dog was happy to relax whilst we chatted with various others in the pub. There's a great atmosphere and the bar staff are friendly. We didn't try the food but would be open to when we next visit. A handy location next to the Chester Market and near the Cathedral and shops - so a nice resting place when you are tired of shopping.

Thank you so much to Phil and the team, for hosting our Airbus team Christmas meal. Couldn’t have started off any better than having our meal and drinks here. Very warm welcome from all of the staff.. the food was absolutely spot on and the drinks were flowing nicely. We’ll definitely be back. Thankyou again so much.

Well presented and good sized family room in the heart of a historic and beautiful town centre, staff were so helpful and made us feel incredibly welcome, no request was too much, made our stay so easy with two small children, breakfast was included, made to order and delicious and free hot drinks for the duration of the stay, proper ones as well, mocha, hot choc, not just instant coffee and cheap tea. Would 100% stay again

Good food, friendly service and nice location in the centre of Chester with outdoor seating. Duck was delicious, soup a little too peppery for our taste but still good, steak sandwiches were a good size and great meat. A bit disappointed with Eaton mess, more of a large cup of cream with a little syrup.

Stop off on the way to Wales, had a nice walk round Chester and finished with lunch at the Coach House. Nice lunch and service was good. It was first day for one of staff but she was attentive and helpful.

We ended up eating here whilst visiting Chester with our two children. The food was delicious, hot on arrival, the children has chicken burgers with skin on fries, hubby had stead burger with skin on fries and they said it was delicious, I had bbq chicken pizza and sweet potato fries absolutely gorgeous had to take half the pizza home which wasn't a problem as a takeaway box was offered we will definitely come again next time we are visiting

I was disappointed on this visit. The barman was lovely but apart from that the customer service was really slow and nobody came back to check all was ok with our meals. I had Brie and cranberry sauce starter but the sauce wasn’t like cranberry at all, it was really thick and gritty - almost like the texture of fig. My garlic bread was solid and had an odd taste. The rest of the meals however were really nice. Despite booking at 7pm it got to 10pm and one friend had to leave before dessert as she had work the next day and the time it was taking to serve we didn’t think we would be finished by 11pm. We had hot chocolates instead and they had run out of squirty cream but to be fair the barman was very apologetic about this and doubled up on the marshmallows. The decor of the place was lovely and the toilets were spotless. The other reviews for this place are really good so hopefully just a one off experience for us.

I had rump steak and my wife had the salmon. Considering rump is classed as the lower quality, it was cooked so well it could easily be misaken for a fillet. My wife loved her salmon too. Service was great. Only negative really was the table itself which was unbelievably sticky

The menu is great and the food fantastic. And they launched a new cocktail menu today. It's awesome. We tried the Elderflower Spritz and the Rhubarb Spritz. Highly recommended and brilliant service too.

Friendly, welcoming staff serving. Tables spaced very comfortably apart. Food was unremarkable but was a 'meal deal', but we waited far too long to be honest.

I have been many times before and everything has been fantastic but I was disappointed this visit. I purposely booked at 4.30pm because it’s family time and we had our baby with us. About 5pm the music became very loud we asked if it could be turned down slightly and was told “Don’t worry it’s going off soon as a DJ is setting up.” The DJ music started at 5.30 and was incredibly loud. The lights dimmed and the place became like a nightclub at 5.30pm!!!! This seems ridiculous. There were other people there with children also. Why on earth would a family pub/restaurant do this?! I thought maybe because it was race day but then saw a sign saying this happens every Saturday. Personally I sensed they are aiming their business at the race goers and not the everyday folk of Chester. Shame the races stop in 4 weeks and we will now take our business elsewhere.

Had lunch here on Sunday. Roast beef was a bit boiled tasting, steak burger was nice. Staff were friendly. When the meals came no condiments were offered. Had to ask for mustard and no horseradish sauce available. Overall meal and service was OK.

We waited over an hour for our meal and when my partner finally cut into his fish an over powering smell came from his plate. The fish was clearly off. The manager came over when I complained and took both our meals from us. Granted, we didn't get charged for it but when I asked the waitress she said no one else complained. Even the other tables covered their noses due to the smell
