Drove 14 hours and spent 500$ just on lodging to visit this place for 2 days; because my daughter has been a fan of their videos for years and years! We went Saturday and Sunday both days open to close, 8 hours each day. She got to meet almost every animal celebrity she's been watching and spend the whole day with them to watch how they change behaviors through the day/night, and watch some feedings. She also got to meet Emily and Ed both days and it was truly incredible! Emily has always been her number 1 role model and this was literally a dream come true since we live so many states away. The staff were incredible, friendly, knowledgeable, funny and so patient with all the children♥️. Thank you all for this experience and I wish you all the best of luck! We got to experience 6 tours in the 2 days, learned so so much, and got to pet more animals than I could count. 10$ a day for this experience was SUCH an amazing deal! We also got to meet so many other families that traveled very far like we did and were visiting for the first time, like us. We also wondered around the store a dozen times watching all those animals as well, talking about the different habitats and shopping the gift shop items.

An extremely high-quality experience! Staff are very knowledgeable and friendly, and the zoo is super impressive! This place is an absolute “must-visit”, and I’ll definitely be going back! Emily handled her reptile-fame very graciously with numerous super fans, all excited to spill their inspirations, and even made time to answer some of my nuanced questions about ball pythons and bioactive keeping. Be sure to support this incredible business and go see some awesome reptiles!! (Great for kids, too!)

This was my second visit. Modest selection of pets and supplies..I didn't do a review after the first visit because although it was pretty cool it wasn't outstanding, as in not 5 star worthy or a really bad experience. I wasn't going to take the time to d a review today either, but the employee took my honest feedback personally and gave me the sarcastic, as FU, "have a nice day" as we were walking out. We came in to get some supplies, but my daughter had never been to the store before, so I wanted her to be able to see the large snakes in the Zoo area. She is 12. I was honest and shared that with the attendant, who informed me it would be $28.00. Now I have been in the zoo area and it was cool, but it's like a 5 minute tour to see it. She said my daughter couldn't go without me, so I had to buy a ticket as well. $28 for this is highway robbery. Not a good value. Total rip-off. I didn't use that language with the employee. I was calm and respectful and have my honest opinion that I felt the policy and cost was unfair. As a customer who was there to buy supplies, spend money in the store, it seems exploitive to charge such a high fee. She had nothing to say. We headed out and that would have been it. No need to say more. I was disappointed, but they are a business and have a right to charge what they believe the market will bear. I like to support small local businesses. I shared that I believed the price was too high. No big deal. I let them know I believed the price was too high. Should have been the end of the story. As we headed to the door the employee gave is that "have a nice day' in that sarcastic FU tone. I will get our supplies elsewhere.

Was so excited to come here and experience the zoo in person after watching them on YouTube! Loved getting to see the variety of animals and see rex eat shrimp. Ed and Emily were happy to take pictures with fans. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful with questions about animals and materials. The facility is beautiful and the animals are well cared for! The way the zoo is set up is naturalistic, and the invert cave is so fun to visit!

This was absolutely the highlight of our day. My son has been watching Snake Discovery before they even had the zoo, on YouTube. He was in love with it all: tortoises, snakes (small to mouth dropping huge in size), geckos, frogs, tarantulas and more. It was unbelievably cool. After we had looked at everything, Kim (a Snake Discovery employee) gave us a guided tour where we got to learn a ton about all their different reptiles and even got to touch some of them! It was super exciting and Kim was very knowledgeable. Definitely a must see if you or your child likes reptiles!

Very nice staff and owners, and amazing products in the store! I love how there's the adoption island for pets who need a home again, and the area for the pets who need their first forever home. Informative plaques on all the animals in the zoo, and there's a super wide variety of species to see. Not a single bad thing to say about this place! It's for sure my go to store for my reptile and invertebrate needs!

Ive been a viewer of their YT channel for a couple years now so it was so exciting to finally be able to visit the facility. I’m actually from Indiana and drove all the way up to Minnesota during my spring break Just to see this place in person! It was so exciting and cool to see all these animals and had a very chill atmosphere! I would definitely be down to drive another 8 hours just to visit the facility again!

Amazing!!! Snake Discovery lives up to their name! After entering you're met with the retail store full of accessories, merch, adoptable animals, heating sources, terrariums, and food for a variety of species. They have supplies for inverts (insects) and reptiles (snakes, turtles, geckos, and lizards). The facility also offers a zoo with an affordable admission. The hand stamp provided gives you unlimited entry to the zoo for the day and animal interactions! This is a great way to get ideas for your enclosures when introducing a new critter to your collection!

We planned our summer road trip around this visit and it did not disappoint! Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Emily is every bit as enthusiastic in person as she is on YouTube. Logan was a fun tour guide. Highly recommend a visit, especially if you are a little timid around reptiles.

*** Each person has a different experience *** It was an incredible experience for us. They have reptiles for sale and adoption. They also display an alligator, snakes, lizards, turtles, Spiders, and more. We came on Saturday, so we could see they fed the snakes around 1.30 pm and enjoy a guided zoo tour around 2 pm which was included in the $10 (+tax) admission. One of their snakes was brought out every hour for educational and petting purposes. If you have any questions about the snake they show you, you can ask them. Their staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. If you're not scared of reptiles or even love them, this is a great place/zoo with a fair ticket price. (They have a small parking lot, so it was hard for us to find a spot when we came on Saturday)

Beautifully kept, and maintained animals. My daughter is a super fan and was elated to see these beautiful animals she’s grown up watching. Wish we could have stayed long enough for a meet and greet. If you won’t be able to stay for too long, and have a super fan, make sure to aim your visit so that you’ll be there around 4pm.

I’ve been following their channel for over 3 years now and I’ve always wanted to visit this place since it opened. When I finally got to visit, it was everything I expected and more. Connor (I believe that was his name) was soooo sweet! When he heard I never touched a snake, he went above and beyond to make sure that this was my best experience.

My 5 year old's review is "This place is sick!" The tour was fun and informative. Plenty of reptiles to see. We were able to touch several and watch a boa eat a mouse. Something different. Recommend.

If you or the kids love reptiles, this is the place to visit! They have snakes, giant toads, large tortoises wandering around freely and more! We arrived in time for a “show” where the worker brought out some of the animals for the kids to touch plus educated them on each animal. Friendly staff and an all around fun experience!

My son found this place for a visit choice on our first explore of the Twin Cities. I was really quite amazed at the variety of reptile and amphibian species from around the world that they had. I have been to large zoos that do not have this variety. One of the python snakes was fed while we were there and another was brought out for a chance to see up close and touch. There are rock stepping "stones" to move around and help the littles to see and while we saw many species, there were ones in hiding, but that's to be expected. We stayed probably about 1 -1.5 hours. It wasn't busy. They have interesting facts about the animals and some information about their status in the wild. It's nice that they rescue animals and show good reptile keeping since the front part of the zoo is a well stocked store with live animals, supplies and souvenirs. The employees were very helpful, checking on a shirt size and color when I asked. They have clean restrooms in the exhibit area. Lots of parking. Handicap accessible.

Such a great experience! We are big fans of the show and were so impressed with the variety of reptiles, how clean everything was, the friendliness of the staff and the educational tour- all so fun! We were thrilled to meet Emily & all the reptiles we've come to know through the show☺️ My daughter was So happy they rotated reptiles to hold throughout the meet and greet- several snake varieties and lizards. Amazing, highly recommend!

We traveled from Niagara, Ontario, Canada almost 15 hours just to visit Snake Discovery. My son found your YouTube channel and has been watching for close to a year and a half now. So we thought what better place to spend our next family vacation then in Maplewood Minnesota. We had such a great time, all the staff were friendly and knowledgable. It's unfortunate we missed Ed and Emily but we knew ahead of time that they wouldn't be there. Either way we had such a good time. Would absolutely visit again.

Our tour guide was amazing and friendly! Also, so tolerant of my kid who was overly excited ☺️ We drove 3 hours to visit and it was definitely worth it just to see it in real life and meet Emily. For context, my daughter is 6 and doesn't know who Steve Irwin is but knows who Emily Roberts is! We love you Snake Discovery!

We have followed them through the entire build of this place and all their adventures. We had a wonderful time! Was surprised at their announcement of Halloween special fun on the day we planned our trip. We had small disappointment they were not giving tours this day, but total smiles at having the chance to hold and interact with the animals this special day! Staff was awesome and happy to talk with us. Watched some feedings and played with turtles too! Will come again some day!

Amazing store and zoo. Tour was amazing and were able to touch some of the animals. Set up is very well done and I loved the turtle pool with all the turtles you could touch. And they came swimming up as soon as you got close. Set up was great and loved how the zoo was decorated. And appreciated the information cards the gave more information on issued that can happen when they are not cared for properly.

This was a great place to go to learn about and see reptiles. The guided tour introduced us to five different animals and allowed us to pet them (except for Rex, the alligator). We learned a great deal and really enjoyed it. The guided tour was included in the $10 admission, which is very low considering how much you learn! Highly recommend!

We went for a jewelry making workshop! We paid under $20 per person. Worth every penny! We had access to to zoo, we were able to hold and touch reptiles and made a necklace out of snake shed. The staff was so kind and eggar to answer all of my daughters questions. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see Emily and Ed. My daughter loves Snake Discovery. We’d like to go back! We live 8 hours away.

Had more fun than I thought and the guy who did the tour with us and a few other people was very friendly and very knowledgeable about everything he was talking about and even gave a few good lessons that didn't feel like a lesson and even afterwards still had fun walking around and looking at all the reptiles and more

Absolutely amazing. Emily and the team are everything they appear to be on their famous YouTube channel and more. The entry price to the zoo side of their shop is super low considering how much effort they've put into the setup. Heaps to see.. they even do tours with really lovely knowledgeable staff. If you've got kids...it's a must visit.

Such a cool place! The whole family loved it. The staff was fantastic. There's a store with supplies for your reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates too. We'll never go back to the big chain pet stores for stuff for our pets!

This is an absolutely amazing place for all ages. My wife and I visited from Oregon. The reptile zoo is a sight to see! All of the animals have appropriately sized and as natural caging that I have seen for captive reptiles. Emily is one of the owners and is bubbly and friendly, greeting all of the people at the zoo. If anyone has seen their YouTube channel, that is exactly how she is in person. Also, for those local, the store is an amazing resource for all reptile and amphibian needs. Make sure to check it out if you're ever in the area and take a look at their new website for merch and reptile needs!

It was a lot of fun. We went for their annual trick or treating day. Parking is small so keep that in mind for events. You may not get a spot especially on a busy day. We parked around the corner. All the employees were so friendly. We will have to come again on a quieter day.

Fun little shop to browse through the cute reptiles, very friendly staff and never a wait for anything. They have a zoo experience of some sort but I have yet to try it. Far better than the other reptile shops around the twin cities and definitely worth the half hour drive to get there when I need feeders.

Such a unique and fascinating place! My son loves how close up all of the lizards and snakes are. Shining blacklights on spiders and scorpions is so cool. Its also great for Birthday Parties!

Very nice reptile exhibits. We were also able to adopt a very docile ball python, Jamal. We were able to purchase everything we needed to safely house, feed, and care for him right in the store.

  • 3/5 Michaela S. 1 year ago on Google
It's a cute little reptile store, but I think the swinging doors bring in too much cold when some of the Reptiles are by the door. I love how they have tours and you learn about a lot of them and feel 4-5 different Reptiles.
