I have been a member on and off since for over ten years (including when it was Cannons) and apart from a coat of paint, some fancy locks for the lockers and some additional matts in the main area little has changed. The staff are great as other people have said but that does not negate the lack of secondary amenities. It doesn't have a cafe, it has a coffee bar attached to reception and doesn't offer any food. The pool doesn't have a jacquzzi which sounds like a bit of a wooly reason to mark it down but you need to consider the cheaper facility at Guildford and the same price facility in West Byfleet that offer both of these things. The car park is always a problem unless the swimming is closed then funnily it's easy to park. If you are local it maybe worth walking in since you will likely end up queuing in the car park. This is particularly annoying if you are aiming to get to a class. The problem is that there is no obvious solution to this short of renting spaces in church street car park which I doubt would float. The gym itself is open and linked, a better layout than West Byfleet in comparison. It has a large number of cardio machines but sometimes I often you need to wait for the resistance machines, The studios can accommodate large classes. The pool is great, the cleanest of the Nuffields I use, and the loungers are helpful for doing the hot+cold rest cycle it says on the Sauna. The steam room is pretty good, not the hottest but alright. The sauna does have a wet heat principally due to its proximity to the pool. This could do with updated paneling since many towards are splitting. In the morning the main changing area is clea. On the occasion that I've been during the afternoon, the places has been festooned with towels. The urinal area could also be cleaner and that's noticeable from the morning onwards. A small point but the lockers here are keycoded,. In general these are better than the ones you have to put your card in and subsequently forget it. Although, as someone who has had good downstairs because the lock malfunctioned I recommend you press the key button twice to ensure it's reset to avoid embarrassment. So it could with much better equipment, paying the same money as West Byfleet which includes a jacuzzi, proper cafe and squash court's seems inappropriate especially with it's shortcomings like the car park. If you are local and don't use the classes perhaps join Guildford at £60 and then just use the multiclub pass to go to Nuffield Leatherhead.

In desperate need of a refurb and some money spent on equipment/facilities. Only one squat rack and one standard bench press bench and missing some pretty standard machines. Cafe is basically non-existent. Poorest condition Nuffield Gym I have been to and I have been to a fair few due to travelling for work. There seems to be plenty of members, so I don't know what's with the lack of re-investment, especially with how much memberships are. Could be a really good gym.

Was a great gym, with friendly staff, but the new booking system means you can't get booked in to any classes as they are all fully booked a week in advance. Despite this, the classes often have spaces. Nobody seems to understand what is going wrong.

Gym is very small and very basic, in serious need of a refurb, cafe seems to always be closed which I find very strange and the staff seem to find it very difficult to speak to people. Showers also have no doors which is not on considering you get a lot of kids here using the showers after a swim, how is that OK? Can't believe people pay the price they do to go to a gym like this, there is so much better out there and for less???

I joined Nuffield about 6 years ago. The place is always clean, the staff friendly & the facilities nice. My only bugbear is the awful lift, hence the 3 stars. When I first joined I had a bad knee, so the idea of a lift from the car park was a welcome addition to the facility. My knee has improved, but I must say, the Nuffield lift is the most useless pile of junk that has ever claimed to be a "lift". Day to day it hardly does any work whatsoever & yet it is always out of order. I'd say over the last 6 years, it has been out of order for at least 4 of those years. It's always the same excuse, "They are waiting for the part". The last broken down spell must have been nearly a year & it has lasted about 2 months & broken down again. I'd have to say, if this lift was operating in John Lewis, Oxford St, or any other dept store, it would start work at 9am & have broken down by 10.30am if not earlier. Oh well, rant over.

Old, outdated and broken equipment (which is never repaired or left out of order for months). Eye wateringly expensive compared to the other Nuffield gyms I've used (which had state of the art equipment unlike the outdated and broken kit here). Small, cramped and in deperate need of refurbishment and modernization of facilities. Very poor value for money. In addition staff often announce facilities are closed a few minutes earlier than the actual time, and turn TV's off well before this in the cardio area and then have the cheek to question you when you don't leave after their announcement even though it's not closing time yet! Male changing room sink has been broken for weeks and just has a cardboard sign stuffed in it, saying out of order. Similar to the signs all over the rubbish creaking equipment they have in the gym, seems like they can't be bothered to invest or fix anything here. Absolutely terrible gym.

Nice staff and atmosphere with great mix of ages and abilities so it’s very welcoming. Pool is a good size and usually very quiet. However, I like a good gym and this key area is small, has poor air conditioning so it gets way too warm and the machinery is very limited and fairly basic and cardio is out of date, especially the cardio bikes . None of the ‘follow me’ video or tv screens built in. Some are even rusting. No dedicated spin room or virtual class ability. Come on Nuffield, get your wallet out!

I’ve been a member for a couple of months, mainly using the swimming pool, and I’m very happy with the set up. I live locally so generally don’t use the car park but when I have it’s always been handy. Swimming pool is excellent and particularly relaxing when it’s dark outside and they dim the lights with a blue hue. That’s my favourite time to swim. Never had a problem getting a lane so far and everyone is friendly. 20m length which is fine. Sauna and Steam Room are added bonuses and all good. I’ve not tried any classes or the spin room yet but the gym is spacious with plenty of machines. The kit is definitely ageing but is it professional stuff and it all works wells and is properly maintained. Changing rooms are big and always plenty of room and spare lockers (with electronic number combinations to lock). Showers are functional and slightly ugly but water is always hot which is the main thing and there’s always shampoo/shower gel there. I’d never envisaged being a permanent gym member but having joined this one I can see myself staying. The team here are also super-helpful and friendly.

I was shown round by the manager pippa. She was really professional and friendly and that's why I decided to join I'm on a rolling monthly contract for £70 but I can cx after 2 months. The pool is 20 metres which is a good size. I like the locker system you don't need a lock or a key or a coin . This isn't a flash gym like the ones in London but functional for what I need which is the pool. App is good ucanbook in advance and it opens 6.30 am which means I can swim before work and off peak is 6.30 to 4 ans anytime at weekends.

Well, it was my first day in Nuffield gym. I am already disappointed. I signed up online for 12 month membership. It cost £69 per month. They just set up direct debit over the phone and that's pretty it. I didn't get any introductions or infos face to face. Nobody showed me around as you expect on first visit. I moved to this area recently and I expected higher standard and professional staff as gym is quite pricey. I was member in EasyGym in London for few years for £21.99. I must say that quality of services were much better and staff more friendly and approachable than in Nuffield Leatherhead so far.. Not impressed at all.

Signed up to baby swimming classes here, the lift to the changing rooms & pool was out of order for the whole 4 month duration. Unable to bring the buggy to the changing rooms and with no play pen in the men's changing room, there was no safe place to put my son while I get changed. Raising a formal complaint seems to generate next to no genuine concern from staff nor effective action to sort out the situation in a timely way. Dirty changing room floors and a number of lockers that simply don't work are minor concerns but worth mentioning to point out my experience of the general poor quality of the facilities here. The swimming lessons (by instructor Georgie) were good and I'd recommend them if she moved them to a place with better facilities like Leatherhead Leisure Centre.

Great gym. Special thanks to Phoebe. She's a great personal trainer and I've loved my sessions with her. She helps you work at your own pace and has been fantastic

I visited this gym yesterday for a Body Combat class and Gemma was excellent! Even themed the tracklist for Valentines week with love related tracks from the past decade! I'll visit again next seasonal holiday :) I'm pleased that towels are also provided and you don't need to bring a padlock for the lockers. Park round the back and register your vehicle at the screen in reception.

....Update.... They have fully updated the Sauna. Brand new. Very impressive and thankful for the investment. Reception staff were as friendly as always. Really poor centre. The most budget Nuffield I have visited and will not hurry back let alone sign up. This centre has had little to no investment since changing ownership from cannons. The showers and sauna are of a low standard and the wooden walls of the sauna are rotten and falling away. The showers range from extremely powerful to a pathetic dribble and have ancient control systems. This centre is not a private health club, more of a run down local leisure centre with the amenities to prove it. If you are serious about health and fitness, you wont be seen here. Only saving grace : Friendly, smiley receptionist.

For this price the gym equipment is very, very poor. It's obviously at least 10 years old, not very clean and there is even rust on the mashines! The caffè seems closed most of the times and some of the staff is not very friendly. This worries me a lot as we have just joined for a year and it's hard to see all these details during the introduction visit! They must provide better service and facilities in order to change premium prices!!!

Do not sign up with Nuffield health!!! Overpriced, I paid 68 quid a month to use a basic gym in of peak hours. They lied to me saying I could sign up for just two months before charging me for the third and refusing to give me a refund despite not being in the country to use the facilities. Will definitely not be signing up in any capacity again at any Nuffield health branch! 0 stars if it were possible!

Nuffield Leatherhead is an amazing, hospitable and friendly place. The staff are exceptional especially Jo in front of house and PT hero Gino. I attend classes 4/5 a week have utilised the MOT and training sessions and have had not one bad or negative experience. I am not particularly sporty so love the push as hard as you want atmosphere. Would recommend to anyone wanting to join a gym in the area.

Absolutely love this Gym, the classes are amazing with Nancy, Gino, Ryan and Hannah, all the staff are lovely, so welcoming always have a smile for everyone, I go 4/5 times a week. Jo and Mandy at front of house go out of their way to help you, having tried a few gyms in the area I wouldn’t go anywhere else, would highly recommend Nuffield Leatherhead to anyone wanting a great gym ♥️

Not bad but not great either. When staff are notified a machine is not working properly I would not expect it to still be like it a month later. Plenty of running and bike machines available when I went in the morning, could do with more area for weight benches as can get busy. I guess I was lucky with someone being in the cafe the few times I wanted a drink but have seen it unmanned several times. You get what you pay and doing a little bit extra to not be tied into a 12 month contract is easier as you can then give notice to leave. The personal training is very expensive especially as I have moved and found a gym which have PT at half the price. I do wonder if the staff get that money as they are being paid already by Nuffield so their hourly rate is pretty healthy if they do.

I am a member of this gym for one year at least and i have to say that most of the staff is more worry to chat in the private rooms than to receive the people in the front desk. The workers have no spirit and dont care about the service. One time one of the girls came to me to tell me i couldnt talk by phone when other people was talking in other parts of the gym which was so rude. The air conditioned is cold in the winter and in the summer is like a sauna...in general so dissapointed gym overall for the attitude of the staff and the price...

Excellent Gym. A really lovely atmosphere and the facilities are superb. The pool and gyms are outstanding as are the work out facilities and training equipment. The staff are always courteous, friendly and very helpful to answer and help with any questions. The pools absolutely beautiful. 🙂

Good gym but changing rooms getting a bit tired and could do with a few more floor mats. Nice friendly staff. Parking spaces can be a bit tight to get intimate.

Not worth the price. Equipment is really old and nowhere near the level of other tier 1 Nuffield gym's. Parking is also a pain.

absolutely dire equipment that is rusty, broken and never repaired. excuse us Covid backlog, can’t get parts but i’ve looked back on reviews 5 years ago and the same!! nothing ever gets repaired!! management said esher couldn’t get hold of the repair contractor as no telephone number but i found and got through straight away!! they are turned fobbing off into an art form!!! if another gym with pool and spa facilities near i’d leave tomorrow!! don’t bother joining unless you are bringing your own equipment

  • 4/5 J S. 1 year ago on Google
A bit small for a Tier 2, but quiet even at peak times with a good mix of general fitness equipment/members which is nice. I came here using my membership that covers other Tier 2’s, but being honest I wouldn’t pay Tier 2 price for this gym.

  • 2/5 Teddy S. 1 year ago on Google
Gym is mediocre considering the price you pay. Received two parking fines from parking eye, was unaware you had to sign your car in as never have had this from any other Nuffield. Something this club need to fix as it's caused me some stress. I'll be appealing regardless and hope to not pay these.

Don't pay full price! I've been a member on and off for about ten years. It's not worth the full price they charge so try to get a discount. The good - - The staff are lovely - The swim school is great if you have kids - Good range of lessons - Never horribly busy on the gym floor The bad - - It's generally run down - Small, awkward parking - Hand dryers are powered by warm wishes rather than any actual heat - Very difficult to get into a lesson. Nearly all have a ten person long waiting list - Many of the lockers don't work - Gym equipment is often missing the pins you need to set the weight Hence my review - not at all worth the full price but not bad if you can get a discount.

Poor show from the part of the management to not play ambience low volume music in the spa area makes it so much nicer. Costumer service is a real hit and miss here sometimes they oblige sometimes they dont VERY DISAPOINTING

Great gym, friendly people, not too busy, broad range of classes and gym equipment such as TRX. Recommend Luca for a PT session - incredibly knowledgeable and intuitive. He continues to challenge you with refreshing exercises and techniques adapted to your goals as well as what your body needs physically and structurally. A stickler for good technique and raises your consciousness self correction.

Pricey, but you get what you pay for. The staff are friendly and helpful and the whole facility is always clean. The steam room can be temperamental which is annoying. Parking is easy and the gym equipment is varied. Edit 03/02/18: Boiler keeps breaking down (3 times since late November). Cold showers and cold swimming pool result.
