👍👍 Super great vegan spot! The empanadas were hot and flavorful, and the staff was very kind. There’s not a whole lot of seating, and there’s no restroom even for customers. I’d love to go again and try the other flavors! People often mention empanadas, flavors, good, vegan, empanada, sauce, savory, taste,

Loved this plant-based empanada shop. Bunch of flavors, including savory and sweet. Most of them were pretty good. The exception was the apple cinnamon which tasted a little earthy. The other note is they offered us sauce on the side casually but it was actually like $2.50 for the sauce. It was good sauce but the price was high and unexpected for the sauce size.

Very nice empanadas. I had it at the farmer's market, the Margherita was very tasty. The middle part was really soft and the corners were nicely crispy.

Extremely excited that we now have a Fons in the Loop! Their plant-based empanadas are wholesome, packed with tons of flavor, and delightful to look at. Chef-Owner Daniel Briceno and team have done such an awesome job creating innovative flavors while sticking to their commitment to being vegan/plant-based. My favorites are Tinga, Smoky Mushrooms, and Andean. I’ve had one of everything, and none of them disappoint. Stop by and give them a try!

Holy empanadas! What an amazing find here in Downtown Chicago for some of the most amazing packed dumplings. They offer a huge selection of empanadas - all are about $5 and vegan. Jackfruit is a common ingredient in all of their shredded meat varieties, and this ingredient really makes the empanadas stand out. My favorite ones include their Tinga and Mushroom Empanadas. Ordered a box of six for $23 but didn't get the garlic sauce since it wasn't included, but you don't need it to really enjoy these fantastic flavors. Even after the empanadas, I was ready for one of their acai bowls and wow - what a great decision. This location also contains a Deep Purpl, a local acai staple. You select from four different sizes and have unlimited toppings that are listed at the cashier. I think I went through and added 10-12 of these toppings including shaved coconut, almond butter, fruit, chia seeds, granola, and more! The bowl was excellent with great texture and taste. Looking forward to returning here the next time I'm in the city.

BEST Plant Based Empanadas!!! Omg these empanadas are super delicious. They will give a tough competition to any meat based empanadas. I love that they have both savory and sweet empanada options. Each of the empanadas are filled with delicious filling that will wake up all your taste buds. Love love the authentic Brazilian flavors in them. They offer ten savory flavored and two sweet flavored empanadas. I tried the Tinga, Sweet potato chili, smoky mushrooms, Andean, corn, and chorizo cheese and potatoes . I loved every single one of them. It’s a plant based/vegan lovers paradise. A meat lover like me is also addicted to them. Special mention for the garlic sauce that comes with it, super tasty and adds the perfect zing to the empanadas. I can’t go back to try the other flavors. Don’t sleep on these empanadas, they are a must must try. Check them out ASAP!!!

Best breakfast ever! Stopped here for a quick breakfast and got a vegan strawberry banana smoothie along with a big pack of empanadas! It was all so delicious, and I will be back when traveling! I couldn't recommend this place enough. My favorite was definitely the margherita empanada. I will say that this place has honey in some of their smoothies, but clearly labels it.

Delighted to visit a fully-vegan empanadas place! To be honest, my opinion of the food doesn't much matter since I'm not huge on empanadas in general (just a bit too much dough relative to filling for my taste), but they did a fantastic job making the fillings hearty and flavorful. Definitely worth a try if you like vegan food, empanadas, or especially both!

Cute little restaurant serving a variety of empanadas savory and sweet. They have acai and a few unique types of lattes. We did the buy 3 get 1 free special. Came out very (temperature) hot. Excited to come back and try their acai next time.

I got 4 empanadas for around $16. They were all good, but the dough was kinda dry. I have no idea if they are made here or frozen. The seating is a bit unfortunate, but I understand there isn't much space. I ate on napkins. There was nice Spanish and English music playing. The customers speak Spanish and English 👍🏻

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while and I finally went and was disappointed. I ordered the pulled bbq and the sauce didnt taste too good and it was a bit spicy and the dough was really bad it was super dry. I also ordered the corn one and it was super basic and had no taste to it the dough was also really bad. The lavender matcha latte was good but not worth going back for. Also feel like a payed too much for three things I didn’t enjoy the total was 17$. Don’t recommend this place.

I LOVED these empanadas. We got pulled pork, ropa vieja, mushroom and apple cinnamon and it would be impossible to choose. Try them all! So glad to have this plant based option and not only that, but have it feel so nicely crafted and unique. Very homemade feeling and fresh flavors, it felt hearty, satisfying and comforting all at the same time. Can’t wait to visit again!

The acai bowls here are pretty good. However they need to stop just serving it in plastic bowls.

We had a great start to our day at Fons Empanadas! We got a twelve pack of empanadas and enjoyed them all. My favorite was the cheesy margherita but also enjoyed the Andean as well. The PB Smoothie was delicious and complimented the savory empanadas well. The only note is that the empanadas can get pricey. They're filling, but a 12 pack goes for over $40

Most of their empanada are spicy. I don't eat spicy but I still could tolerate their spicy. I think their empanada is just okay and it is not as good as I have thought of.

Always great to have a quality plant-based option! Extensive and varied menu. The two savory empanadas I tried were both quite yummy, but a bit dry. The bigger issues were that they seemed overpriced ($4 each and not big) and that service was somewhat indifferent. But good to have a grab and go spot in this area with such a range of options. Will be back again!

My boyfriend said we had to stop in as soon as he saw this place. He loves empanadas, I've never had one and am vegan, you get the idea. We decided to only get one once we saw the price and I decided on Chorizo Cheese & Potatoes. There was a little confusion because the description doesn't clarify that the mozzarella cheese is plant-based so we had to double check, but it was obviously. The empanada was ready quickly, and super nice and hot. Once I got the chance to taste it I wasn't sure it was what I had ordered, but it was good nonetheless. The edges were flakey and golden brown, the inside was warm and slightly spicy. I'm not sure it was worth what we paid, but I'm glad I got to experience it. And as for the place itself, I only have a couple complaints. The first is that it was jam packed in and outside, the location is just too small for the amount of people in Chicago lol. And the second, on a semi-related note, the flavors aren't by the menu board, they're on an entirely different wall. This may not be a huge issue, but when the place was full of people, it was hard to see the flavors that were hidden behind the masses. As a final note, this place is iconic. The logo made into the empanada? The pink bags? I'm in looove!
