I give it 4 stars because the service and atmosphere were very good, but the food. ..just fine. There wasn't anything wrong specifically, I just can't say it was good. They apparently started a new menu. It's very limited so I expected the few things available to be amazing. It wasn't, but it was fine. They also bring the food out as soon as it's done. Good concept. Except we received our sides, fries and brussel sprouts, 35 minutes before our main dishes. That's just weird. Brussel sprouts were good but I didn't care for the seasoning they used on the fries. I then had fish and my husband a pork chop. I found the fish a bit oily and the lemon overpowering. Again, it was fine, but I wouldn't order it again. Of the four dishes, the only thing I would order again is the brussel sprouts. Our waiter was very attentive and explained the new menu very well. We sat on the patio and it was very nice. My only issue with the patio is that I found the chairs very uncomfortable. Overall, I will try this place again, maybe after they have been on the new menu for a while.

Schmoke and a Pancake Whiskey cocktail is a must!! Burger was pretty perfect and the sausage board that two of the others ate was cool to see. The leather binder of whisky options is definitely something to see and service went above and beyond. Very nice to have a place that pays so much attention to detail like this in town!

If you are looking for a place with one of the best beer selections in town this is by far one of the places to go. I mean they have everything. The environment is definitely upbeat which is nice. If you are looking for a place that has large portions of food for a lower price this is definitely not the place to go. We ordered a $16 plate with pork and cheddar grits. It was not considered one of their large plate meals but for $16 I definitely expected something a little bit bigger. The cheddar grits were awesome but the pork was maybe 3 oz and it was extremely salty. One of my friends ordered a 6 oz skirt steak with tons of vegetables and very cool sounding additions for $40. Definitely a little on the higher end but he said it tasted pretty good. If you're looking to bring a first date out or to show off a little bit, this would be the place to go.

This was my first time at Sovereign and it was great. The food was fantastic, I just wish the menu was a bit more expansive. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and the wife had the fried steak sandwich (which was huge). I wish I tried some of the cocktails but I was driving with the kids in the car and that's a 0.0 policy in this house.

Not going to sugar coat it just because I love Sovereign. Changes come with disappointment and in this case that’s an understatement. I’m not even going to bring up the food crime of removing the wicken chicken, rotating tacos, and rotating risotto. I got the cheeseburger. Price is solid for what it is, but presentation as you can see by the picture leaves much to the imagination. Charge $2 more and dress up the plate a little bit with a side. Overall flavor solid. 14/20. Would get again. The kids menu took a dive as well. No side options for kids is ridiculous. No fruit anymore. No fries. Bummer. Hard to mess up Mac. Daughter gave it two thumbs up. My wife got the chicken and frites. Ok so this is where I get frustrated with the changes to the menu. Server told us while we were about to order this can take 20-30 mins. That’s fine, but as a courtesy to the patrons it’s probably a good idea to post that on the menu. Half chicken is now gone and replaced with a small chicken breast. Fries come with (originally a $6 side) and you get a chicken breast for $20. Insane price point for soggy fries sitting under a chicken breast which was cut in half allowing all the juices to leave the chicken before it got to the table. The fries that weren’t soggy were cold. 13/20. Would not order again. All in all, beyond disappointed with the quality and price hikes for what’s left of the menu. Probably won’t return for anything more than drinks in the future. Their drink menu never misses.

Went here for a dinner one time and it was delicious! I forgot exactly what it was but the chicken was yummy. I had high expectations for their "special occasion only" brunch and it was a tasteless total let down. I definitely don't have that feeling of wanting to return after that brunch meal. I ordered the breakfast bagel sandwich and it was just bad. And the French toast was also very plain and boring.

Pictured is the ribeye and smashed potatoes from the born of fire special, halibut with heirloom tomato relish and avocado sauce from the rapture of the sea special. Corn ribs and chips with French onion dip. 10/10 I honestly can not think of anything they could do to improve. It's perfect. We had the beef cheeks appetizer, and then we both ordered one of the entres that was on special. I had the beef short ribs with collards and mac and cheese, my husband had the achiote pork with cilantro lime rice. They were EXCELLENT. This place is special guys and the prices are so reasonable. We had a large app to share and a small plate of fries with garlic aoli, my short ribs were market price, my husband's entre, an iced tea and a beer on tap and the total ticket was $110. Service was excellent. 10/10

Been here on a couple of occasions NEVER a disappointment!!! Love that they support local breweries and what seems like their never ending spirit cocktail list 😍 The staff is always super friendly they always make sure your table is clear of dishes. The food portions are amazing, I usually end up bringing home something. You definitely have a return customer here.

This dim-lit, rustic brew pub has great music and atmosphere. A ample bar and extremely open floor plan offer great seating and room for events. Food drinks and vibes are all worth every penny!

The Crispy Pork Belly with char grilled pork, maple braise jus, celery leaves, pickled shallot and cheddar grits was The Han Solo Season drink was amazing too. A redwood empire Pipedream Bourbon, journeyman Apple Cider Liqueur, pecan maple syrup, & ginger beer. Our server today also did a great job and the space is just gorgeous. Definitely on the pricey side. The Wiccan Chicken was average, The house burger was average as well. All in all, worth the check out and I would go again. I’ve seen pictures of the bloody Mary’s here and they look amazing. Will be back for brunch.

Impeccable service, top notch style, and unmatched food and cocktails in this area. Honestly I can't say enough good things about this place. I've gone 3 times and my excitement only grows each time. If you're up for a fantastic meal in a really cool spot with great tunes and awesome staff members, look no further than Sovereign! Seriously only the finest ingredients are used and they are cooked to perfection! Buy the kitchen a round!

Really good! Cool vibe. I really like the grandma plates lol. Waiter was attentive. Food was good. We got the items on rotation and they were great.

Are you looking for good vibes & great food? You need to stop by Sovereign!! We loved their Brussel Sprouts, but both our meals were also very good! Everything was so fresh, with great flavors and fresh ingredients. Their drinks are top-notch too! 🍸 🍹

What a wonderful place! The decor was very nice and tasteful. The cocktails were good, and the food was even better! The french fries were so tasty and they weren't just a "French fry" they made them unique and flavorful. Located right off the strip of downtown, so you can shop before or after. They also had a cute outside seating area too. We will definitely be back!

had lunch here w/ my cousin, she got roasted broccoli, truffle fries, & I forget what drink oops lol but I got the Ghosteen and pork tacos. SOOOOOOOO GOOD AAAGGHGHHJJHHHHH THE FRIES?!??!!!??!! INSANE. would come back just for those. everything else was super good too

What a local find! This was the first time I had been to this new location. I was not a fan of the previous experiences at the prior location. This new location is wonderful! I had the hamburger and fries. It was delicious. Loads of beers offered, but limited wines. Plenty of tasty signature cocktails. Get the brussel sprout appetizer. Large plate of yummy meant to be shared. We had a very good waitress. She was attentive and engaged. Kind demeanor and was working really hard to keep all of our beverages refilled. I love the atmosphere of the new location. It is industrial meets old Hollywood. It has the oversized booths with half circle, leather-like seating. The room is dark without being too dark. Lots of windows that add daytime illumination. I am a fan of their light fixtures. The pendants provide the right amount of intimate lights during the evening. I will be back. I am so glad I came in one more time. It is a beautiful restaurant in an adorable town.

First-time visit with family. We tried some of the suggestions that weren't cheap but were excited to try. The small and shareable were delicious 😋, especially the Brussels. The goose island coffee beer and you float here vodka drink was good. Now, the entrees were a total disappointment. We asked for a medium cook, and it wasn't close to being medium; the fish didn't look appetizing. The vibe was so chill, and we loved the low lighting and warmth the place gave. Overall, it was ok.

First time we have tried this restaurant. From beginning to end, this place was amazing. The cider braised pork shank was the best pork I have EVER had! Fall off the bone, moist and delicious. Best meal I have had in years. I highly recommend this meal and restaurant. Do not miss out on this local gem.

We enjoyed a birthday dinner at Sovereign to celebrate our adult son's birthday. He requested to go there. It was easy to park in a parking lot nearby and walk to the restaurant. We hadn't been there in years and it was our first visit to their new location. We liked the new larger open space and ambiance of their new location. We enjoyed our dinners and appetizers. But we really loved the large, long, wooden table they seated the 9 of us at! We had very comfortable spacing between each of us without feeling cramped!

Very nice location! Definitely want to come back to try more dishes. Food and drinks were made fresh. Our server Elizabeth was great, and so helpful.

Wow what a divine place! The food was incredible. I enjoyed the drinks and atmosphere. The service was great, the bartender funny, and the food was my favorite part!! We ordered the avocado plantains, the tomato, and the risotto

Our first trip to Sovereign was for their recent whiskey dinner which featured a Prix Fixe menu of bourbon-inspired dishes and pairings with Weller 12, Blanton's, and Eagle Rare. The food was fantastic, highlighted by the Maple Bacon Bourbon Upside Down Waffle Cone. The whiskey pairings were great and the whole experience was very reasonably priced. The bar also has a great whiskey selection at reasonable prices. At the end of the night, they raffled off a bottle of Van Winkle Special Reserve Lot B. Great night with great friends!

The atmosphere and the very low lighting by candle light was extremely nice. The atmosphere was a 10 out of 10. They were out of the 2 drinks my husband and I wanted to order, so I ordered the boulevard of strawberry dreams and it had an odd flavor, but the drinks looked pretty. The Risotto had shrimp and the shrimp was cooked right, but the Risotto lacked flavoring. The best part of my meal were the fries cooked in beef fat. A huge bowl of them for $6!

Ate lunch here on a Sunday afternoon. Got a table right away. Great atmosphere, not too loud (even though football games were on the screens). I felt relaxed. We had the Roasted Beets appetizer. It was delicious. We had two orders of the tacos (4 tacos total) and shared. Delicious, with a little kick, but not too spicy. I ate some fries from my husband’s plate, they were cut in cubes and were seasoned perfectly! For dessert we all shared donuts we dipped in chocolate, so delicious. I loved how they used mismatched mugs for coffee as well as mismatched plates for appetizers and dessert. It added to the personality of this restaurant. The building this restaurant is in, is Plainfield’s old trolley barn. They did an excellent job converting to a restaurant and banquet faculty (next door) while keeping some of the historic charm!

The food was good. I LOVED the brussel sprout appetizer. I had the blue gill appetizer for a main dish and I was not disappointed. The ambiance was very nice. The menu had a wide variety of dishes.

My wife and I are have been enjoying their tasty dishes and libations since they opened across the street. We typically make Sovereign our place for 'Date Night' since we know we will not be let down. The new location allows for an entirely new ambiance, and the new chef has brought a new flare to the menu. While some original dishes remain, there are an assortment of new options available which are delicious! Don't pass up the fingerling as an appetizer - you will not be disappointed! Their daily specials are always interesting and just as equally delicious. I opted for this week's Rapture of the Sea ( Salmo ) and my wife chose the Half Chicken.
