Always a great store in any city, good brands and excellent service. Clothes always in right order.

Absolutely some of the worst service and interaction with a manager. I have already made a complaint with customer care but thought other people should see this before they apply. I was with my younger sister who was applying at a restaurant right by the store when one of the Academy managers and/or team leads approached us. He was wearing his blue Academy shirt and his name tag. The gentleman (unfortunately I did not catch his name) asked if my sister was applying for a job and when we said yes, he stated “come over to academy and talk to me. I’m always looking to hire more.” We thought they had paper applications so we walked over and asked customer service if we could speak to the manager about a job. One of the managers walked out, an elderly woman named Leticia, and asked us what we needed. I explained about the other manager who approached us at the restaurant and she immediately started getting frustrated at us. She started saying things like “no you have to apply online, you can’t just walk in” and when I tried asking about the other manager she stopped me and said “apply online. Also, don’t even bother applying if you won’t do weekends.” When I started making it obvious that I was not appreciating her tone she cut me off and asked “is there anything else?”. It was unprofessional for the first gentleman to approach us with false pretenses but it was even worse for Leticia to talk to us the way she did. If she doesn’t want people to apply then she can say that. I can’t imagine how she treats her employees if that’s how she talks to customers and/or those interested in applying for a job.

The store has a ton of supplies, but the lines are always extraordinary long. I'm just not sure why Academy Can't Get Enough registers open. As well, I've got gift cards from here that have never been activated because the people running the registers don't know how to activate them. Then you give them as gifts and you look like a jerk because they haven't been activated. This isn't just a store, but a corporate wide issue. Unfortunately, we're stuck with only one decent sports store around unless you want to go to Bass Pro shops.

I work long hours hardly had time to make it before closing time I was picking out my last items and was approached by a few and was told they closed I was already trying to be quick and one girl specifically with blue in her hair just hovered there over me, I told her I DID NOT NEED HER HELP kindly even told her I felt harassed!!! Again I told her to leave please and she said “ ok I’m going to tell my manager then” ???????? Are you kidding me ? I work in customer service as well and I would NEVER make a paying customer feel the way she felt about me. I’ve stayed past my shift I was not even trying to keep anyone long either. I hate this last shopping experience. It was disgusting.

Great inventory of goods, you can find all items related for gym, cloths, socks, hunting stuff etc, awesome like as Always.

Good place just the fact that ladders are everywhere and no employee to be found we decided to take matters into our own hands and got seen and yelled at maybe if yall were around to help we would've never gotten tired of waiting 30 mins for the shoes we wanted which were in the top Rack just looking down at us. Ridiculous.

The best Academy store in the RGV. Very clean and organized. All staff members friendly and willing to help. What customer service is all about.

Horrible customer service. They didn’t have my product ready for curbside pick up despite having received an email that product was ready to be picked up.
