I
raised
the
concern
with
the
corporate
office,
and
their
response
was
incredibly
disappointing,
highlighting
the
systemic
issues
of
racism.
They
conducted
an
interview
with
the
nurse,
concluding
that
she
acted
cautiously.
However,
my
complaint
wasn't
about
the
diagnosis
or
the
suggestion
to
go
to
the
ER;
it
centered
around
her
microaggressive
and
prejudiced
attitude
towards
me,
later
diverting
the
issue
to
insurance
matters.
Despite
assurances
that
someone
would
contact
me,
no
one
did,
and
there
was
no
direct
communication
to
hear
my
side
of
the
story
via
telephone.
Chris
Lau,
who
was
supposedly
handling
my
case,
failed
to
ensure
a
fair
hearing
for
both
parties.
It's
disheartening
that
the
person
treating
me
unfairly
was
white,
while
I
am
black,
underscoring
the
recurrent
issue
of
my
voice
being
unheard
due
to
my
skin
color.
The
lack
of
contact
suggests
ignorance
and
a
blatant
disregard
for
human
decency
and
prioritizing
this
woman's
racism
which
sadly,
is
not
uncommon.
For
those
of
color,
I
strongly
advise
against
seeking
care
at
Dignity
Health
in
Glen
Park.
Opt
for
the
West
Portal
location
instead.
While
I'm
inclined
not
to
recommend
Dignity
Health,
particularly
after
my
experience
with
their
corporate
office,
if
you
require
medical
attention,
steer
clear
of
this
particular
facility.
West
Portal
is
not
far
away
from
GP
and
the
staff
was
kind,
listened
and
made
me
feel
100%
comfortable.
Update
to
Previous
Post:
I
stopped
by
to
get
the
nurses
info
and
the
male
nurse
at
the
front
desk
named
David
was
absolutely
lovely
and
kind!

I'm
writing
this
on
my
phone,
so
please
excuse
any
typos.
Yesterday,
I
visited
this
facility
due
to
feeling
faint
and
experiencing
heart
palpitations,
as
I
suffer
from
hypothyroidism
and
anemia.
While
the
receptionist
was
somewhat
distant,
I
understand
the
demands
of
the
job.
However,
my
primary
concern
arose
when
interacting
with
an
older
lady,
possibly
a
nurse,
who
had
short
greyish-brown
hair
and
blue
eyes.
I
was
anxious,
given
my
heart
irregularities,
and
requested
an
EKG,
which
she
declined
and
continued
to
push
me
to
the
ER
and
was
speaking
down
to
me
about
the
difference
between
urgent
care
and
ER.
Which
i
know.
Ive
been
to
many
ERs
and
UCs.
What
i
also
know
is
that
ERs
are
for
medical
emergencies
and
i
wanted
to
make
sure
my
heart
looked
normal
and
if
it
didnt
i
had
every
intention
of
going
to
the
ER.
She
seemed
intent
on
my
leaving,
which
was
disheartening.
When
the
receptionist
was
going
to
look
into
me
getting
some
care
sooner
the
lady
got
up
and
hovered
over
her
as
if
to
stop
her.
It
was
very
uncomfortable.
When
I
stood
my
ground
against
her
rudeness
and
microaggressions,
I
made
it
clear
I
wouldn't
leave
without
care
and
that
I
had
insurance,
although
I'd
forgotten
my
card
at
home.
She
continued
to
insist
I
depart
and
suddenly
made
the
issue
of
me
not
being
able
to
get
care
about
my
insurance
card.
I
said
i
would
consider
paying
out
of
pocket
she
wouldnt
hear
it.
I
said
I
could
show
proof
of
insurance
and
that
wasn't
enough.
Again,
the
writing
was
on
the
wall...
melanin
was
the
issue,
no
money
or
insurance.
While
I
appreciate
the
need
for
insurance
cards,
I'm
appalled
that
a
medical
professional
would
treat
someone
this
way.
I
strongly
recommend
the
West
Portal
location,
where
the
staff
is
compassionate
and
professional.
I'll
return
on
Monday
to
gather
her
name
for
a
formal
complaint,
as
I'm
deeply
upset
by
my
treatment.
This
behavior
is
inexcusable.
I
believe
essential
workers
deserve
our
support,
but
I
cannot
tolerate
racism
or
prejudice.
If
you're
a
person
of
color,
I
encourage
you
to
consider
West
Portal.
They
treated
me
with
respect
and
care
and
I'd
rather
go
the
extra
mile
to
go
to
that
location
instead.
I'll
be
also
sharing
this
story
on
a
few
different
platforms.
This
was
unfair
and
wrong
on
so
many
levels
and
I'm
very
upset.
Update:
just
read
some
other
reviews
and
it
seems
other
people
of
color
had
a
similar
experience.
Racism
is
not
ok.
Now
I
feel
even
more
inclined
to
share
this
story
so
it
gets
more
exposure
as
this
needs
to
stop.
