This tower is the oldest tower in Europe that allows overnight guests, dating to the 1100's... and YOU get to stay in it and have a bubble bath! Andrea and Sergio have done an amazing job retrofitting this tower to have modern day amenities, but keeping the "old world charm." They didn't have elevators 1,000 years ago, and they don't have them now either. Be prepared to climb stairs to get to the entrance, and then you have four different levels of the tower with additional stairs. You are going to have nice calf muscles when you leave! The Tower is right in the middle of town, and close to tons of restaurants and shops just a few steps away. Parking is tight, so a smaller car is better if you get to choose :-) The ground floor is the kitchen/dining table, then the bathroom/dressing area, then the bedroom (with automatic shades) and then the top floor is outdoors in the turret. So very romantic at night! The absolute best part of the trip was working with Andrea and Sergio though. When they say they are available 24/7, they truly are. We had a minor water issue that was repaired the same day, and the communication was truly exceptional. I'm not sure I've ever had that level of service at any rental property I've stayed at. Five stars from check in to check out. Be sure to ask them for recommendations on restaurants and tours, they know everybody. And if you're lucky, Sergio might even come over and give you a chess lesson over a glass of wine. I've stayed in hotels and resorts all over the world, and this is the most unique experience that I've ever had. Would definitely recommend to all!

Portovenere is already one of the most enchanting villages in Liguria, and the opportunity to stay in an 11th century tower at its center would be more than enough. The personal touch, however -- between the eclectic, hyper-modern, "acquamarina" aesthetic and the eager welcome from Andrea and Sergio -- is what sets this apart. It's not a typical 5-star experience, but the Capitolare Tower offers a singular, discreet, historically immersive experience that I won't forget anytime soon. Vi ringrazio!

We loved our stay at Capitolare Suite Tower in Portovenere, Italy! It was such a unique and fun experience to stay in a medieval tower converted into a well appointed luxury suite. The space has been creatively designed to make excellent use of an unconventional space. The view of the town and of the harbor from the tower is amazing. Our host, Andrea, was so kind and accommodating and took us on a personal tour of the town. He arranged for a wonderful chef, Matteo, to prepare two amazing private dinners for us at the tower. We loved our whole experience! As the accommodations are in a tall tower, please be aware that there are non-standard style steps up to the tower and between floors in the tower.

Already on the phone, talking to the owner and his collaborator, they had made a very good impression on me. But when we arrived we immediately breathed a genuine and friendly courtesy and hospitality that immediately won us over. The hotel is located in the centre of town, with an excellent view from the terrace on the top floor, breakfast brought to the room every morning and great availability for anything from boat services and massages to various restaurant reservations and much more.

Booked the tower to celebrate a special occasion and it couldn’t be any better. Located in the middle of the little village, the tower offers an incredible view of the bay from all its viewpoint. Refined interiors within a mediaeval tower. Unparalleled guest services extremely kind, always available and discrete. If you really look for something unique, that’s your destination! Top

A charming and unexpected (in a good way) room in the centre of the village. From here you can enjoy the tranquillity and beauty of the town of Portovenere and get advice from Sergio and Andrea on restaurants and activities to do during your stay. They are always friendly and helpful for anything.

When I reached out to Andrea to share the exciting news about our engagement and our upcoming holiday, his response was nothing short of exceptional. He and his colleague, Sergio, took the time to personally connect with me and discuss every aspect of our trip, crafting a tailor-made plan that exceeded our expectations. From the moment we arrived at Capitolare, Sergio's unwavering dedication and attentiveness made our stay truly remarkable. He was always available, going above and beyond to ensure our every need was met. The tower itself occupies a magnificent location, its presence defining the captivating cityscape of Portovenere. The interior design reflects a remarkable level of thoughtfulness and attention to detail, with each element radiating uniqueness and the highest quality. The rooftop view offered a breathtaking panorama, granting us the sensation of being part of history during our unforgettable stay. My fiancé and I were genuinely awestruck by our experience at Capitolare. The attention to detail and opulence we encountered surpassed any previous encounter. To describe the Capitolare tower as luxurious would be an understatement—it embodies a level of grandeur that is truly unmatched.
