Very nice campsites with own small house ablution (kitchen and bathroom). Andre and Bonquet are lovely and always happy to make a short visit of their farm. We could also pick up lemons, oranges and soft citrus. They do have great cottages but we did stay at the private campsite. Do not hesitate to stop here if you are in the area, we won’t regret it and likely you would wish to come back!! Thanks again Andre and Bonquet

Awesome Karoo hospitality from André at Rooidam, a wonderful overnight stop on the way to Cape Town. Endless skies and peace and quiet. The accommodation is comfortable and equipped with everything you might need for a self-catering stay. The farm dam/swimming pool was a hit with the kids

What a great experience! Friendly, clean and just different to the normal hustle and bustle we are used to. Worth while not just for a drive through on the N12, but even a weekend getaway...

Rooidam Cottages have quaint campsites nestled amongst the citrus orchards. The bird life is in abundance and the farm walks spectacular, especially at sunset. This is our second visit on route to Namibia, which we would most certainly recommend to fellow travelers wanting a very affordable overnight stop. The stretch of road between Middleburg and Britstown has been badly damaged by heavy truck traffic transporting ore from the mining operations, so travellers should take care because there are large potholes and some very uneven sections. In the distance we could see a storm brewing, with lightning streaking across the mountains and in no time at all it had hit us with a vengeance, sheets of water falling so heavily we could barely see the road ahead, pools of water with little riverlets rushing water to the lower ground. As quickly as it had started, it was over with the sun breaking through the clouds, streaming beams of light, reminding me of a Biblical scene I had once seen as a child. Upon arrival we were met by the farmer Andre and in no time at all we were set up and ready to relax after our day of traveling.

Lovely place to go camping. I spotted 12 bird species just around the campsite. A place where you can rest and just relax.

We were pleasantly surprised and very happy to find this campsite. It was a much needed break on a very long journey. The campsite is located on a working farm 10kms outside of Britstown coming from Cape Town. Each site has it own ablutions, which is spacious and spotless. Also a kitchen with basin and a one plate gas cooker. The night sky is beautiful and the bird life amazing. This is a place that is well worth stopping over. The owners are very friendly and helpful.

What a lovely experience and word class hospitality! Peaceful and safe. Hosts were most welcoming with home made biskuit and fruit. Rooms are beautifully clean, and private. Thank you to Andre & his wife, they were lovely hosts and we would love to return again.

Even though it is a 20km detour for me on the route I take, I keep returning to Rooidam Cottages because I love it so much. For those traveling along the N12 between Cape Town and Johannesburg it is very well situated

Excellent! Clean, neat and safe. Rates very reasonable. Well equipped Cottages with DSTV. Have Campsite with own ablution and kitchen for each site. The Karoo friendliness was fantastic! Our stay at Rooidam Cottages was very good and I can recommend it with a smile!

Easy in and out from the road. Braai facilities and I enjoyed the lovely free fruit. I was woken by a hen that even laid an egg in the braai place.
