This garden has about 80 acres to explore with plenty of activities to amuse both adults and young children. There are three cafe/restaurants in different areas of the garden with plenty of room both inside and out. Clean and well looked after. Different areas of the garden come into their own during the different seasons so people do tend to congregate in those parts. The garden mainly has more of a wild feel with a surprise around every corner. Plenty of well maintained paths....many suitable for wheelchairs Dogs, except for assistance, are not allowed. I can see why. Large free carpark.

Lovely gardens. Wheelchair friendly paths. Many types of wheelchair and electric scooters to hire on site. Play areas, cafe and tea room, shop and exhibitions which were interesting.

Old Harold certainly did have green fingers. Loved the place, certainly helps being in the demographic target audience. A tea shoppe and , Importantly, clean loos. I'm amongst friends here.

Love this Garden beautiful in all season's. Nice tea rooms, restaurants. A good walk with lots of plants labled and perfectly placed. They have a cool tree house and a play area that the children love.

Picked a sunny afternoon in Feb to visit the Winter Garden, rewarded by amazing colour combinations and a surprising number of flowers. Enjoyed the statuary too. Used two different cafés and couldn't fault either of them.

Great day out with the grandchildren. Two play areas and lots to see and do. The exhibitions in the garden were amazing. Our grandchildren loved finding the pumpkins

The lights are wonderful. I've been to lots of similar things at National Trust places and theme parks but they had things here I have not seen before. The wolf tree was incredible and the boxes in boxes was deeply trippy. I just loved it. The music got weird in places but the unpredictability was part of the fun. Had a hog roast roll half way through. It was vile but not their fault as it was a separate vendor. Shop was great, lots of local stuff and was cheap. Kids of all ages would go absolutely crazy for this light show. Go early. We had a 4.30 slot and didn't queue. Queue was huge when we came out at 6.30. Carpark is very organised with marshals.

Fantastic illuminated trail with lots of interest and lovely displays. Sound and light together with food and drink half way around. Great night, very reasonably priced and we will come back next year.

Beautifully laid out gardens with lots to see all year round. Great facilities too - 3 restaurants, a gift shop and unsurprisingly, a garden centre. If you live nearby then annual membership is the way to go - an affordable option allowing you to go as often as you like, and also including 3 guest passes per member. The only downside is that only assistance dogs are allowed, so you can't take your pooch for a walk around there.

I visited Light Up Hillier Gardens for the first time this year, as I’ve been to several different festive light trails in the past and as I live in Winchester, I thought it was worth a try as it was close by. I must admit, I didn’t have the highest expectations – but the whole evening took me by surprise! There was a vast array of different lights and experiences on the trail, all of which used the used the landscaped gardens of Hillier Gardens to their full effect. My favourites included Bloom at the very start, with a huge field of light up tulips, Flutter, with the colourful butterflies, and also their clever projections on the house. The whole trail took us around 2 hours, with a stop halfway for some mulled wine and churros. The food court in the middle was well set up and considering we were a captive audience – the prices were quite reasonable. Overall, I had a fantastically festive evening at Hillier Gardens. I have also done Glow Wild at Wakehurst and the festive trail at Stourhead in 2023, and Light Up Hillier Gardens was by far the best. If you’re looking for something to get you into the Christmas spirit – look no further!

Delightful place to stroll and find secluded peaceful spots. Plenty of seats in shady areas. The Tilia Tree café is in a marquee in what looks like an old car park but the staff are friendly 😊

Very beautiful gardens with a relaxed atmosphere. Spacious too so very relaxing even when busy. Large car park. Although might seem expensive you could easily spend at least 2hrs here - annual memberships are good value especially as there are seasonal areas of the garden so merits several visits throughout the year.

I am so glad I found these gardens, I was staying in Brockenhurst for a few days and wanted to incorporate a walk. The gardens were about a 30 min drive away, beautiful and expansive, there were so many paths to wander down and explore. The planting was beautiful, inspiring and well thought out. I was subsumed in nature and I loved every second. It was really helpful to be able to park in the gardens, it was also extremely well signposted from the motorway right up to the entrance. There were 3 eating places in the grounds to choose from aswell as the garden shop which had some really nice treats from local independent creators and producers. The team were also very welcoming and friendly- definitely recommend to anyone visiting Hampshire!

Even on a cold damp day in February, the glorious camellias and magnolias are worth the visit. Best restaurant is the one at the far end of grounds. Far less busy than one by main entrance.

Lovely gardens that I'm sure are beautiful in the spring summer and autumn but not much to see in the winter. Good tea rooms and lovely views.

We booked to see the Christmas light show with family and had a really nice time ... Good weather definitely helped! The food concessions and bar at the half-way point were OK if a bit over-priced. All in all, we had a really good evening.

A magical walk through an amazing collection of lighting and audio effects. We found the open air cafe and enjoyed the churros . A tad expensive at £ 2:50 for a single can of coke, but we were on a holiday mood and paid the price. A very imaginative use of the water areas and stunning illuminated groups of deer.

Loved it! Went for the lights and was NOT disappointed! Now looking into a year pass to visit more often. The weather was horrific but the place just made me feel great! Probably down to the music accompanying the light show but both me and the wife, and the kids really, really enjoyed it. Our autistic daughter loved it too, the whole place was pushchair friendly and just magical. 😊

Lovely Christmas light show. Entry over normal membership but family had a great time. Otherwise gardens are a great getaway anytime of year!

It was good to visit during winter period when the garden is at it's worst BUT it is a very great garden even now, can't wait for the summer to re-visit

Visited the light trail in Wednesday. Very well organised with extremely personable helpful staff. Light trail was amazing with co ordinated music. My only criticism is the food village which was extremely expensive for the food types on offer.

The Light Trail was beautiful! Despite booking, there was a queue of around 15 minutes to enter but it was fine. We were in the overflow car park near the Rugby pitch and were escorted across the road. The actual light show was amazing! Despite the number of people there it didn't feel cramped or rushed and you could go at your own pace. The food and drinks are expensive but you expect that at any event these days. All in all, a great time had.

Lots to see, lovely gardens and nice places to eat or you can take a picnic. There are wheelchair friendly routes around too. Still showing good planting in the Winter garden, would like to visit again in Summer when the Wisteria is out.

We went for the light show what a wonderful evening !!! So many creatives way to use lights and sounds Amazing 100% recommended. My daughter loved it !! PS I don't want to do all the pictures so I don't spoil the surprises !

The gardens are extensive and you can easily spend a day taking it all in. The site map leads you to approx areas, leaving you to work out your exact location. Plenty of champion, original collection, newly planted and magnificent trees here, as well as the various borders. This weekend, the colour was in the long border and the hydrangea walks, but our favourite areas were at the estate edges, where plant names required investigation. We enjoyed the unexpected pigs too.

Absolutely enchanting. The children were thrilled as was I. We found the coffee and treats ridiculously priced, so avoid it. Rather, take your own flask and treats. There is no where to sit at the end to reflect. No matter, we regrouped and found an acceptable spot down the road for a warm brew. Pitty, there wasn't a squeegy to scoot off the muddy muddles on the music foot pads. The little ones kept face planting. All wet n muddy.

Beautiful environment, well laid out. We went at night for the Xmas lights event which was well staffed and highly enjoyable. They say it's about 45 minutes to walk but with stops along the route, figure on 2 hours

A beautiful place to visit especially on a sunny day. Plenty of different gardens to see with a huge variety of plants and flowers. Magnolia avenue is especially gorgeous when in bloom. Staff are really helpful and friendly.

Absolutely magical evening at their Light Up event. So many gorgeous lights, with music and an interactive musical path... A complete feast for the senses! There are a wide variety of festive food choices that were all tasty (if not scarily overpriced). Only issue we had was finding toilets that weren't locked. Would have been nice if there were signs to help navigate. But honestly, the whole thing was lovely and we had a wonderful evening. Will definitely go back next year! Highly recommend it, it's worth every penny.

Lovely garden to walk round, lots of paths and left to grow areas, amazing number of different flora and several areas for children. Only advice take a picnic. Highly recommended

A really enjoyable walk through well maintained botanical gardens with a huge variety of tree and plant life. The free guide map was a little vague in places with some secondary paths not clearly marked. The yearly ticket option makes sense if you intend visiting more than once or twice, £42 for a full year per person with 3 free entries for a guest.

Stunning gardens, plenty of seats spread around the site. Nice places to eat and lots of restrooms. They have manual wheelchairs and electric scooters that can be borrowed & hired, best to book in advance. Stout footwear highly recommended.

What an incredible place to visit, I love the history behind the gardens and how amazingly beautiful it is. The coffee shop is a lovely spot to refuel yourselves. Another nice little surprise was the resident cat that was super friendly. Me and my family have only been twice but have both now become annual members.

I went along on as a parent helper on a school trip to the gardens and they far exceeded my expectations! They were very well organised and child focused. They had well planned, interesting activities for the children. The children learned a lot (and so did we, the parents!) and were engaged the whole time. I am looking forward to returning sometime to explore the bits we didn't see. I really recommend this place for a school trip for a wide range of year groups!

Beautiful place, lovely gardens. If you're into that sort of thing, they have a good selection of edibles and drinks, gift shop and a garden centre next to it where you can buy some of the nice plants you have seen. Worth a visit

Beautiful, peaceful and spacious gardens, a lovely tranquil walk. I love how all of the plants and trees are labelled. There is always a new part to explore, especially through the seasons when plants change colour. Plenty of clear paths and open spaces. Many benches to sit down and relax with a bit of lunch. Cafes dotted around various points too! There is also a park for children to play. Each part is split into roughly themed sections, trees, peonies, wisteria, small flowers, bushes, irises. There are some beautiful sculptures which blend in well. There so many parts to explore you simply can't do it all in one day! What I loved was that along the path there were musical instruments for people to play such as marimbas and xylophones. There was notated music that you could learn, or have fun composing yourself! It sounded very ethereal, especially when hearing it in the distant woods! There was also a garden which had a bee house and you could help water the plants. Very educational and fun for all ages!

Haven't been for years and absolutely loved it! What a wonderful day. Went with my family including 3 very small grandchildren (6, 2 and 13 months) who all loved it. Picnic in the grounds and very nice tea and cakes in the restaurant too.

Christmas Light Up in December 2022 was an amazing evening, our first visit to the garden and this was so much better than we expected. Everything was well organised including a very good selection of places to eat and drink half way round. The gardens looked so good lit up, we were mesmerized by the lights and music over the water, we spent so much time at this part. We'll go back again this year, even though we're not that local. Highly recommended for anyone planning to visit.
