great place to see Nikole Hannah-Jones, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, launch her book, The 1619 Project: A New Origin Story, which is shockingly banned by 15 states at this time. Ta-Nehisi Coates joined her for the celebration. i sat in the balcony and had a good view!

Beautiful building!! I was only able to see it from the outside but it is gorgeous nonetheless! I plan to visit the interior one day and will check back to give details when it happens!!

One of the top NY States performance venues for the preforming arts. Get your acting on or your music vibes in check, before showing up on this stage. Artisan such as Sarah Bernhardt, Philip Glass, and Arturo Toscanini have preform on there very stage. A nice area to get dinner and go to a show.

Dance Africa 2023!🔥🔥🔥 You are transported from Brooklyn, New York to an authentic African Marketplace in the heart of the Continent 🎶 Always the best of times. Catch the show if you can but don’t let the fun stop there. The African Dance performances inside the Theatre from all over the continent is nothing short of magical💕 The real after party starts right outside the steps of BAM with the sidewalk drumming circle open to all and the friendly street vendors with their unique wares and vibrant selection of eclectic pieces you won’t find anywhere else in the world. Whether it’s African print yoga mats, to funky hats, to rustic jewelry pieces or one of a kind household items like hand woven African Prints place mats w/matching runners. You name it, the unabashed variety in cultural creativity will take your breath away. Now don’t forget to go there hungry as your tummy will thank you later. Whether you’re vegan or a carnivore there’s something for everyone. From freshly smoked jerk chicken to hot roasted corn 🌽 on the cob, bring small containers to pack an order to go😂 Wait, it gets even better. Your guaranteed to run into a old college friend, neighbor or someone you haven’t seen in ages. It’s like a family reunion, especially when the weather cooperates. I went there in my jeans and a white tee and left decked out in a beautiful Andikra Print piece that can be worn as a shawl or a shirt. Talk about a two-fer! Clear your calendar for 3 days of bliss cause you can’t see it all on one day. Buckle up and brace yourself for an unbelievable experience. See ya out there🥰 Harambe!

Went here with friends, and had a great time! We saw inu-oh, which was unexpectedly incredible, definitely go check it out! The theater was nearly empty, which is a little sad, because a movie as good as inu-oh deserves more. It was nice to have it be a bit empty though. The popcorn was terrible actually, which was quite surprising. The movie more than made up for it though!

This place — there's actually a total of three buildings — is incredible. This one, The Peter Jay Sharp Pavilion, is astounding! Walking into the ornate play theater feels like walking into the US Capital. Highly recommend!

The staff are organized, efficient, and polite. The venue has enough staff members to manage the entrance process for large shows. I had a wonderful experience. Thank you BAM.

Went to see a movie. Spacious and clean. Keep in mind that movies on weekends are shown starting at One but during the week, usually start at 4:30.

Top notch theater attached to an iconic multi-cultural performing arts center. As Roger Ebert once said: two thumbs way up 👍🏻👍🏻.

I recently paid my first visit to BAM's Fishman Space to see Chris Masters Dance compelling piece "Mausoleum." There is a lovely small auditorium with about 250 seats and excellent views. The on-site cafe includes a bar as well as coffee and snacks. BAM is a jewel in Brooklyn's crown and we are fortunate in havng this space available for the kind of groundbreaking work the center showcases.

The theater was clean, the staff was friendly, the concessions were fairly priced, my only complaint is I was late for my movie because bam has three locations and the ticket did not specify which of the three locations the film was being held. I had to run to each building to figure out which one was playing the movie and missed the first 20 minutes of the film

Great time at the opera house but we could hear outside sirens from our seats during the performance. You could see the stage clearly from the balcony, but the lights at the top of the stage were blinding since we were also trying to look at the super-titles at the same time. I know they didn't intend it, but I felt like we were being punished for buying balcony instead of orchestra or mezzanine seats.

BAM's main stage is a wonderful experience. The acoustics were fine, we had seats in that back.of the.mezzanine and could hear most everything. Mavis Staples was great.

Dynamic arts space. Became a member this year and went for the 2-night only performance of Trojan Women by the National Theater of Korea. Then went upstairs after the performance for Bamcafe live for some live local music. When you think of the arts that NYC can provide, you can find it all somewhere on BAM's campus. And chase it with a great variety of eats in Ft Greene. Its just a great night out and totally worth the membership.

We traveled to Brooklyn, my hometown, to celebrate MLK day with BAMkids. Eventhough it was crowded at times, we were able to enjoy the music, photo-op and crafting activity.

I went to Dance Africa on opening night. The show was amazing and then I returned on Saturday for the marketplace, which was jammed packed with vendors who had a variety of high-quality cultural merchandise from the diaspora, and foods, as well. If you have a yen for the southern cuisine you have fried fish and fried chicken , mac and cheese and collard greens from which to choose. There's also ox tails and curried chicken for the Caribbean palate and American, too. The vegan and vegeterian connoisseurs are not left out because you can get fresh squeezed fruit juices and vegan dishes, to go. I'm going back today for the last performance, and the marketplace, which unless you spend several hours there, you must make another trip(s). We must always address parking, the streets are packed tight, but because people are always in motion in NYC, you can get street parking in walking distance to the venue. I drove each time, otherwise, I would have taken the LIRR to deliver me minutes from BAM's doorstep. And, of course, the MTA will get you there, too.

Was there Friday night for a Red Carpet for Carworld. Upstairs was a live show before the movie. Very nice venue with downstairs room for a meeting area.

First visit to BAM for an inspiring and thought provoking ballet performance. Lovely team of people working there. They need to rethink how and when they move guests around and into the various spaces.
