What a piece of history in such a beautiful area ! Please note that they are open on Friday/Saturday and Sunday. I invite you to check their website to have the last updates. I arrived and met with very nice Park Rangers, they were ready to answers all of my questions. The house is very well maintained and we can feel the energy and the story from the past when we get inside. You can have a booklet to guide through the visit. It’s very impressive !

Awesome spot that should not be missed. Free and maintained by NPS (National Park Service). Alexander Hamilton's home with detailed exhibitions on his life. Home is maintained beautifully and the guided tours are very helpful to understand how he used to live. Free lockers on site to store stuff while on the tour. Make sure to signup for a tour time right when you arrive or you might be passed over depending on how busy it is.

Closed until further notice. I tried calling earlier today, but no one picked up. Didn't really want to travel over here to be let down with a close, but it happened. And their website doesn't indicate it to be closed whatsoever...even though the website is posted everywhere. It was a beautiful say today, so it wasn't as bad.

An easy subway ride from downtown Manhattan to see this restored house of Hamilton. You can only see 3 of the rooms and the entryway but some of the artifacts are original from Hamilton's day. And it is free, just reserve a time slot in advance.

I went during Open House New York's weekend event. That event was free. So my experience would be a little different from a normal tour. The biggest difference was that we went during the evening and the mansion was lit up by candlelight. The lighting was beautiful! Our tour guide was so informative and also funny. I went to the Grange knowing pretty much nothing about it. Learned a lot and got to take some very cool photos. The gallery on the first floor has lots of great info about Hamilton and the Grange itself. Gift shop was small but it has a variety of items. I definitely recommend visiting.

Life long New Yorker, first time ever coming to see this beautiful jewel of a home. Loved it, def agree with others - get there early for the tour with the rangers - otherwise you are walking on your own not really sure of all the great history. Came on Easter weekend and it was packed. Train stop is a only a few blocks away - all in all I loved it - I'm a NY history nut so this is right up my alley. Great 15 min video on the Hamilton.

I was disappointed with my visit. In my opinion an important historical landmark has not been adequately restored. The only part of the house restored to some form of its original use is the second floor but the restoration did not even encompass the entire second story living space. Three third floor which was the bedroom areas had not been restored and is office space for the employees and is not open to the public. In one area on the second floor that was not restored I felt a rotten floor board break as I walked through the carpeted room. It shows a lack of upkeep and deterioration of the house from lack of care in my opinion. I felt the displays on the first floor were lacking and not very interesting. The wait can be a bear. Only 6 people are allowed to tour the second floor at a time and no time limit is given so if you have slow visitors ahead of an annoying visitor that wants to ask the park rangers a bunch of questions you may be waiting a while. I'm still glad I went but I wish the house was more cared for and expanded for public view.

Very informative site. Great for anyone who enjoys New York and American history. We were allowed a self tour of 2nd floor due to the heat advisory. Worth the to see.

My love and I were in town to visit a friend and we planned on stopping by - as big fans of the musical we wanted to stop by the only national monument dedicated entirely to Hamilton! We both really enjoyed it. The staff were quite kind and the exhibits and video were fun to watch. We were able to go in the self-guided tour too. If you're going, make sure you give yourself time. Access to the house is somewhat limited, so give yourself time to sign up for the tour. It's a great glimpse into the life of a Founding Father.

Update as of 5/30/22 The Grange is now open! Book your tour online. Currently closed but the grounds are nice and the Park Ranger spent time talking with us about the property.

Nice house to learn about Hamilton's Life. You will only see the ground floor which is a pity, as they should decorate the top floors with furniture from that era.

Peaceful, relatively quiet with a nice shady yard. I've just spent time on the grounds haven't taken the official tour inside.

Mediocre. Original is the house & a piano forte; the rest are copies. You can only visit two rooms on the ground floor. It’s free but far away; not worth it. Best to read about it & see pics online.

Glad this house is saved, nice setting, restoration, important architecture and history surrounding Hamilton and his family. Staff helpful. Nice walk along the park to get to the house after a subway ride.

Such a fun spot to visit! It was a bit of a wait to get into a tour, but it was worth it. Very fun and informative.

Pretty good experience. Exhibits and film in the basement were quite informative and interesting. I do wish they renovate the other floors and more rooms rather then just the three on the main floor. The rooms that were renovated were beautifully done. Staff were friendly and informative.

I went here with some of my family this summer and it’s so beautiful. I’m a huge fan of Hamilton it’s my favourite musical and I was probably fangirling when we got inside

I have some friends that live up Harlem way 135th Street and during the day we like to take walks around that Park and on the north side that's the most beautiful house tucked away a little hidden treasure in a rough neighborhood a rare gym if you will when you get a chance check it out it's on the north side if you go to 140th Street and not 135th or the South side of the park that's where the house is and because the road goes uphill as you go north you just go to 140 and you only have to walk up a few stairs to see it you don't have to go from the south side and climb them out to see it it's beautiful I wish I took a picture if you're in the area check it out the safest easiest way to get there is on 140th Street and you just go west or into the park and three sets of stairs and it's right there

Only partially opened due to COVID, but what is open is very cool. Tour guide was great.

Interesting place, but there is limited areas where rooms with period furniture are. Tour is only to second floor and there is only a self guided tour which is a few plastic pages describing each room. At best, you will spend about 20 minutes before you are escorted out. Young Ranger was very unsure of his Hamiltonian history. Two films on 1st floor were somewhat interesting. I expected more

The 5 stars go to the park rangers who clearly have a love of history, the park and the neighborhood that it is in. It was infectious and inspiring. The house is interesting not huge but had an interesting exhibit and a good historical area including much original furnishings. I do recommend this to anyone visiting uptown new york it’s a little secret pocket of oldtimey amidst a very beautiful neighborhood.

Went to see the Hamilton Grange museum with a friend today. It was fabulous! A nice gentlemen gave us a tour of the former residence of Alexander Hamilton. He did a great job - it was like traveling back in time with him. He passionately told us not only about the life of Alexander Hamilton but also about his remarkable wife Elisa. Thank you to the entire team at the museum! It was a wonderful visit.

Great tour, amazing history, not just because of the musical!

It's just an old house. Worth visiting if you're in the area. It has a few displays, but nothing super interesting. If you're into Alexander Hamilton, it's a must-visit.
