Hamon Observation Tower

Tourist attraction

👍👍 It's free inside de young museum. Many tourists do not know that. There is a ticket for the museum, not for this observation deck. You can see the most of SF from this deck on a clear day! Make sure to reach there before 4 o'clock as it closes at 4:30 pm. They should keep it open in the night hours... People often mention views, city, Francisco, free, museum, view,

Free to go up! Better views than the ferris wheel for sure. When you go in go to the right of the ticket booth and there's a hallway. Going back to the elevators and hit the 9th floor observation deck and enjoy! There's even a small gift shop up there.

Great views of SF 💙 Its free to go up to the 9th floor. Its a must see if your in SF or near Golden Gate Park. There is a gift shop and elevators available. Went on a weekday and it was not busy at all.

Free and wonderful views of SF. Entrance through a lift inside de Young museum. Fairly small however on a quiet time it's easy to get nice shots of the city. If you fancy the art museum, cafe and park (maybe even the beach), this is one of the best tourist spots of he city. 🌉

Always a gem in GGP. A treetop 360 degree view for everyone! And guess what, it's free for everyone! Walk right in. Note admission fees apply to the rest of the museum.

Awesome viewpoint on the Golden Gate Park and San Francisco in general. If the sky is clear, you’ll see the Golden Gate Bridge and even Point Bonita lighthouse. Important note: access to the tower is free!

Truly some of the best views in the city in one of the greatest museums in the world in one of the most amazing parks... not designed for tall people.

Very nice views over parts of the city. Not high enough to see all, but still a must if going to the de Young museum.

The tower was built on 2005 but stems back to the 1800s. It is 144 feet tall and the exterior will eventually match the green of the trees due to its copper coating. It is free and it has 360 degrees views of Golden Gate Park.

    Beautiful views over the park.

Amazing view of San Francisco! I could almost see the golden gate bridge... Although make sure not to jump in the elevator a earthquake warning system will go off, and the elevator will stop moving for ~40 min. Highly suggest watching toddlers in the elevator, after all, you don't want to be stuck there, do you?

It is really great to see all of San Francisco! Well, maybe not all, but a large part of San Francisco! When we were there it was fortunately clear, so we got a good amount of it!!

Wonderful views over the park and surrounding city. Well worth a stop if you're already in the de Young Museum.

I grew up in San Francisco and love this observation tower. The views are spectacular and the large photo of S.F. is fun to look at to spot familiar places.

Very neat! Part of the deck was shut down for repairs I presume, but great view of golden gate park and the city beyond!

Entrance is to the right of where you enter to buy Deyoung museum tickets. Good to stop by if you visit the Deyoung. It's free entry as well if you aren't visiting the Deyoung but would just like a great view. They also have a small gift shop as well.

This is an excellent way to appreciate the beauty and diversity of the city of San Francisco. 360° views and a large permanent aerial photograph allow you to really identify all the points of interest in neighborhoods and so forth throughout the city. In addition you've got the incredible view of the immediate neighborhood including the living room on the American Academy of Sciences the ferris wheel and the tea garden.

The Hamon Observation Tower offers a great place to sightsee most of San Francisco. Take a look at the city map and find where you live/stay.

This is an absolute must if you're visiting San Francisco. It's free to enter and the views are spectacular.
