We took two trips out to the USS Yorktown. One during the day where we took the water ferry over to her and got to do a self guided walk around her and look at all of her history. Very well put on with signage placed everywhere so that you can read about what you were looking at. the staff were very well informed and helped you to really appreciate the history of the craft. We came back later that evening to do the ghost tour. That was geared more towards kids rather than adults. Still neat to look around the vessel, and to hear some of the, at times, very far-fetched, stories of ghosts, but did get a little long in the tooth as the night or on. All in all, if you are in the Charleston area, you must take a trip out to the USS Yorktown. Well worth your time. Just with the ghost tour, take it for what it is.

We had so much fun exploring this air craft carrier! It can get a little crowded and hot walking through the upper decks but it’s an amazing experience. I recommend eating at Rodney Scott’s BBQ it’s the best southern cooking I’ve ever had.

Very interesting and interactive. Great for kids and adults. We had the senior discount and did a self guided tour. Handicap accessibility is slightly limited. You can get to the flight deck and the hanger area. Buttons are not marked well in the elevator. Lots of stairs for everyone else.

Visited this place with my husband who loves military history. We were amazed at the size of the ship and how much of it is available to tour. We really enjoyed being able to walk around the ship on our own at explore at our own pace, however I do wish they offered the tour as an inclusion to the ticket you purchase. I think having to pay for the entry ticket and then extra for a tour was a little much. Another we would’ve liked to see was more of the original layout of the ship vs having it turned so much into a museum. There are plenty of things to look at though and it’s a neat experience for anyone who has never been on a ship that size.

I would give this place a million stars if I could. More expensive than the USS NC but way worth it. Was $108 for 4 adults which isn't bad at all. Plan to make a day of it while you're here. We got here at 2 and had four hours and still had to rush so get here early to have enough time to experience it all. The gift shop closes at 5, before the place closes so go there first. Lots of interesting things to do and killed all of our phone batteries and my camera as well because we took so many awesome photos. No air but we were here on a cool day which was nice because some areas of the ships were very hot. The Vietnam experience was very awesome but everything here is. The medal of honor museum had a ton of interesting stories to read about why the men and women received the medal of honor. My grandpa was in WWII and it's really cool to kinda see what it must have been like for him. If you are thinking about coming here, you definitely shouldn't miss it. We loved it and it was worth every penny..

Really a great place to visit in Charleston. You can do a guided tour or explore on your own. One thing to note, there are a lot of narrow and steep staircases you will encounter while exploring the ships, but it's well worth the effort if you can do it. Fun for the whole family including 2 teenage boys.

Great destination for learning World War II history. Lots of planes to see and a self-guided tour of the aircraft carrier and the destroyer. Best experienced on cooler days. Tours are up and down steep ladders; however, the main flight deck is stroller and wheelchair friendly.

It’s a bit emotional and breathtaking to see and feel the ship that served the nation in the WW II, the sacrifices generations gave and the ingenuity of people who designed and built this grand vessel. It’s huge. Really appreciate the efforts put in by the people and authorities to maintain this as a museum to the future generations and a honor to those brave soldiers who lost their lives and those who lived to share their lives experiences to the future generations.

This was an incredible experience that I recommend anyone in the Charleston area check out! Patriots Point offers an amazing opportunity to discover first hand the history of our country and offers exhibits that would even be interesting to those not inclined to want to learn about history. I highly recommend checking out this aircraft carrier and the surrounding exhibits with your family. It took my family about 4.5 hrs to walk through all of Patriots Point but I would definitely say that it was worth the money and time!

Yorktown is one of the coolest things I've seen in a while. The history on the aircraft carrier alone is impressive. Not only is there a Vietnam tour, there's also a destroyer and used to be a submarine. Many aircraft to explore, including the Doolittle Raid B-25. You can even explore the Yorktown's interior all the way down to the engineering rooms. A must see if you're in Charleston.

You have to visit this place if you are planning a trip to SC. It starts with $5 per vehicle parking , parking is not easily available on the main concrete lot rather on the grass which is adjacent to it. Park it there and move along to the main entrance only to buy $26 per adult ticket , free for kids <6 A long stretch takes you towards the USS Yorktown 🛳️ , this thing is so massive with so much of details preserved that it looks you are the part of that history. You have in front of you the planes ✈️ , missiles , helicopter 🚁 that were part of Vietnam war and other wars as well. So much technology and interesting stuff to look around that anywhere between 2-3 hrs are required to go through each floor. Really enjoyed the visit

This is the most well taken care of ship I have ever seen! The detail put into the self guided tours was impressive. You can actually see what life was like as one of the crew members, or passengers. This is such a fun museum for kids and adults!

The USS Yorktown is a much loved and cherished vessel by those who tend to it. All of your parking money goes towards the maintenance of the museum. Plenty of accessible areas for those whom get around with more difficulty. There's a few locations that offer air conditioning so you can escape the authentic Yorktown experience for a few moments. Overall I would heavily recommend visiting this aging piece of our history.

Wonderful historically educating experience. My husband and I and our two boys, 5 and 7 spent over four hours on both ships and the Vietnam experience. It was so much information, so inspiring and so humbling. There was actually a reunion for the men who fought on the Yorktown being held while we were there. So to share space with some of the people who lived and fought on those ships was incredible.

Amazing experience with Operation Overnight aboard the ship! Boys from our local troop were able to spend two nights aboard the ship and were given tours by men who have served at high levels in the military. They did an amazing job balancing the weight of conflict with the enthusiasm our troop had for the planes and guns. Would highly recommend a visit to see the CV-10 and participate in all 4 self guided tours!

Great experience for the family! Just be warned that it does smell moldy and you tour very small tight, hot spaces. This is not the best place to go with strollers wheel chairs or the inability to do stairs. They do have elevators installed but you are limited where you can go! We had a blast exploring and learning the ways of the past and the awesome history!

One of four Essex-class aircraft carriers preserved across America as museum ships, CV-10 USS Yorktown had an illustrious career. The easily accessible hangar deck and flight deck has an elevator as well. A number of WW2 aircraft are tightly displayed on the hangar deck and the jets are on the flight deck. They seem to have discontinued the audio guide but run a guided tour once on a weekday. Much of the island is open to visit. There is another tour below decks. One of the nicest things are the memorial plaques by each type of WW2 aircraft listing aircrew who were lost. The Medal of Honor pavilion falls well short in an otherwise interesting ship.

All around great experience, I felt like a kid again exploring the ships inside and out. And once you got to the top there were aww inspiring views. This was a great hands on tour of these massive ships, and very informative. We had a great time learning about our history and the men and women that make our freedoms possible. We will definitely be visiting again.

Absolutely amazing experience walking in thw footsteps of heros from the past! You can spend literal days exploring every nook and cranny of the ship and learning its history. People with mobility issues have access but cannot get to every portion of the ship to experience Absolutely everything. Overall great affordable experience make sure to bring and drink lots of water as some areas are Stifling hot. They do have Air conditioned areas if you need to escape the heat.

Visiting the USS Yorktown is an amazing and worthwhile stop if you're in the Charleston area. Great tours or self paced exploring is available. There are several static aircraft on display as well. To walk through a living piece of history and get a feel of how our Sailors/soldiers lived as they served and protected our country was a very humbling experience. 🇺🇸❤️🤍💙🇺🇸

What an amazing experience watching the fireworks at the USS YORKTOWN! One of the best shows I've ever seen. Buy tickets in advance so you can sit on the flight deck.

We didn’t realize the price was gonna be a bit on the steeper side, even for military rate. So we just saw the outside of it, took some photos, and left. We also knew we didn’t have enough time for how much it was gonna cost to make it worth it. Maybe another time. Great view of the bridge behind you and so pretty to see the water overall. Also really lovely Gold Star Families Memorial Monument with flag.

Awesome place to go if you're visiting Charleston and I even saw a few dolphins playing near the ships! The history and all the details the crews have put into showing the details of the rooms/areas and what it was really like was fantastic.

It was an easy entry for me, I went there for my Grandfather's Anniversary of the ship they have every year. It's a great place to visit and in October is when the Anniversarys are held and everyone can come and meet the vets that served on the ship.

I love our nation's history. So stopping here and touring this Carrier was a must. Warning there is a lot of climbing narrow metal stairs, but it is worth it. To walk though this ship and get a feel of the people that served on it is great Only wish they had more guided tours and/or more audio stations within the ship. But overall a nice memory of what our family and friends endured.

👍 Nice park, even in the cold. The playgrounds are awesome. The trail along and across the river is pretty - paved and accessible. Lots of sports fields. I am guessing it is really busy in warmer months. The Michigan Vietnam Veteran Memorial is also quite nice.
